Fully agree on all points. As a user of FSD for a year and half at this point I can say it does allow you to be more aware. I am one that still holds the wheel and keeps my foot near the pedals. It's usually that I want to give it a little help more than taking over safety.
It has come a long way and as it is learning I have learned how to operate it in a more patient and measured way. As you use FSD you become more aware of what it can or might need a little help in doing. That's great because you can be confident and ready for the strangeness that humans bring to driving.

Wonderfully instructional guidance, a relaxing experience watching the FSD manage most of the drive. I think this is the perfect video to counter the malicious clips. Thank you for once again being the voice of reason to us all!

Hey Omar, you should inform people instead of having to shake the steering wheel to show that you’re paying attention, you can just roll the volume scroll wheel on the steering wheel . This is much easier way to tell the car you are paying attention and you don’t have to worry about the car being taken out of FSD .I Look forward to seeing you at the Tesla takeover. Keep up the great work.

So thanks for the video, and the ride along. I myself drive my Tesla on FSD all the time, because there’s nothing about driving that I find exciting. I put driving a car up there with doing household chores, like dishwashing, mopping/vacuuming, floors, making beds, and doing laundry, none of which I ever wanted to do, and so I personally cannot wait until FSD does all the driving. Cheers 🥂

Thanks for the video. Tried the full self driving for the first time today on my Model 3.
I’m fairly disappointed in how often it was prodding me to keep pressure on the wheel when my hand was already on the wheel. It also disengaged a few times when I would then grasp it- apparently it felt me trying to turn the wheel
Also, I was going 65 MPH in the left lane when a car was rapidly approaching from behind. My car did not move to the open right lane- so I disengaged the FSD and moved to the right lane.
Most dangerously : I was in the right lane when another car entered the acceleration lane. The Tesla slowed but so did the other car; the Tesla sped up but so did the other car. When I saw an impending problem I quickly changed to the open left lane. My wife had a fit !!
The FSD so far, has been anxiety provoking. Of course I’m not used to it but read the above examples for yourselves.

I have 3 months complimentary fsd for new M3
I like driving so I wasn’t really interested in fsd. Tried it once and turned it off 2 minutes later because it was too slow for me (didn’t realize or have updated software that has the other modes)
Tried it again after I noticed aggressive mode and woah what a difference
Fsd is like riding a horse, just gotta nudge when it’s not going exactly where you want to go
I could definitely see the potential in the future but I think I enjoy driving the Tesla myself too much for now
Thank you for the tutorial and contributing to this system

I just got FSD finally for my hw4 Model Y. in this week's push..I didn't have my hands on the steering wheel, but had them near it, and I got a warning to assist slightly so I did, but it kept beeping at me so I "assisted" more and then it disengaged altogether. SO when I activated FSD again it said I can only have that happen 4 more times and my FSD will be suspended! this sucks for someone trying to learn how to use it in the first place...I need to make some mistakes in order to learn. I'm driving in my neighborhood so going slowly without traffic so I can get a feel for the system and it works. Your video is super helpful!!!

It's interesting how well FSD seems to perform on your videos. I've been using it quite a bit for the last 30 days, locally and on a 1200 mile trip. My experience isn't as spectacular as yours. On major highways it's fine but around town it behaves quite erratically and I have to take over quite often and not necessarily in complex driving scenarios. I hope V12 is as good as Musk is telling us.

Thanks for this video on using FSD. Couple of questions on FSD to anybody using it:
I don't see the poster answering any questions.
1 - How much more aggressive is FSD when you put the system in that highest mode of driving?? Does it make the system a little more dangerous at intersections or doing various speeds on the road??
2 - Living in Northern Illinois, I am always wondering how safe it is using FSD in snowy weather? I know FSD wants to do posted speed limits, but I don't think it knows the road conditions. Also I know it is up to the driver to determine when to use FSD in winter weather. I would not use FSD if the weather was really bad an I know the cameras would get degraded due to snow and ice buildups on the vehicle.
FSD is cool, but right now i can't see spending the extra dollars for the system. Plus how quickly can we get on the FSD Beta soon as we pay for a subscription and do a request for beta? I hear there is a wait time, but how long would it be? I don't need the EAP features.
    Anyway, take care.

Another great video. In addition to touching the wheel to prove you are engaged, these other functions also substitute for the wheel touch. Not certain this was communicated so clearly. For example, adjusting the set speed on the right wheel up/down 1 notch, without needing to actually hold on to the steering wheel, substitutes for the wheel touch. This is especially convenient while driving along highways, but also works in city streets. I do find the jerkiness of the steering wheel disconcerting, particularly at the beginning of the execution of turns from a stop or very slow speed. It does take some “technofaith” 🤞🙏🕯Please do show a round of lane changes in FSD on one of your highway trips if you get the opportunity. Thanks again!

The way look at using FSD is an extension of my driving meaning that what ever FSD does buy definition and liability is on me.
So when I see videos of people letting FSD do stuff should not. I just think they are the fools for letting it do it then complain that it can't do it.
Anyone who purchased FSD has been let in on early access to what is "possibly" one of our great achievements as humans.

Yes, it does shift over towards the far edge of the lane when passing or being passed by larger vehicles. On my 11.4.1 recent rental experience, the adjustment for potholes and other imperfections in the road surface, not so good at avoidance of these.

So it will not avoid potholes, or man hole covers, because they can’t see them, neither does it recognizes these imperfections in the roadway, however, it will drift to the far edges of the lane, even crossing the edge defining line if necessary, which I think is very impressive, so if you think about it, being able to define imperfections in the road surface, such as potholes and manhole covers that are not covered must be something they are definitely going to have to be able to do, particularly if we’re going to get to a level 4 or 5 situation, with having a fleet of robo taxis on the street.

I don't get it. What's less work, micromanaging your automated driving vehicle, or just driving? With FSD, you not only have to understand the road situation as if you were driving, you also have to understand what FSD is doing, decide when it's wrong, and take over in an instant. I'll wait, thank you.

  • @edhill8568
    @edhill8568 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Enjoy your videos but since the roads you drive on have few if any obstructed view intersections you're not able to share the actual FSD experience with people who live in areas where obstructed views are common. For example I drove in Houston last week and didn't have any obstructed views. Almost no disengagements. Got back home in Mass and lots of disengagements where the B-pillar cameras just cannot see well enough to make safe decisions. Two totally different FSD experiences. One excellent and one pretty bad. I just don't know how Tesla can solve the B-pillar camera problem when bushes block the view and FSD cannot do what I do which is lean way forward to make safe decisions. At one intersection FSD consistently tries to go when vehicles are 110 feet away going 40 mph. Bushes simply block the view of the B-pillar camera which I solve by leaning way forward and creeping at 1mph. I have lots of other FSD testers in the area that have exactly the same problem.

Omar, I agree with you completely, BUT you and others it the Tesla community keep referring to FSD beta as FSD. FSD beta is an ADAS that is being used by Tesla to collect data and develop solutions necessary to achieve Full Self Driving (FSD) capability. The Beta version is not a fully autonomous system. It’s obvious why people outside of the Tesla community are confused and we share the blame. We need to stop calling the beta version of Full Self Driving (FSD). FSD has not been released.
    Autopilot is not FSD…
    Enhanced Autopilot is not FSD…
FSD beta is not FSD, yet.

FST is getting unbelievably good, but it still needs to be corrected at times. That’s why we’re in the driver seat! We must take control when things go wrong or FSD needs a little throttle push to prevent delays and piss off other drivers! Another common mistake is being in the wrong lane before return, and a simple lane change by hitting the signal light, may be required to correct your Navigation path! It seems like sooner than later it will become better then we can drive! That’s when Tesla will become the most valuable company period! 💎🙌TESLA🇨🇦😎2565 SHARES 💪

Once Tesla improves FSD another 5-10x, it will still not be level 4. But when it gets that good, ppl will start paying a lot less attention as it will almost never need any inputs. It will also be used by a lot more ppl at that time as it will actually be something useful. When FSD fails at those times, it can be a lot more dangerous as the driver might not be attentive enough to take control on time.
