Do you know if there’s still salmon coming in to the harbour? I know the stopped the hatchery a few years back but wondering whether there’s a population that keeps breeding 🤔
awesome video. really a gr8 feeling wen a kahawai decides to slam ur softbait really hard and fast. they seriously pack a solid punch on the light tackle
Hey bro you might not see this but on the off chance you do, when do kahawai start coming around these ways again? counting down the days till i can go kahawai fishing again
Hi, can’t remember as it was awhile ago. Probably not mate, they tend to sit out in deeper water. Could go have a look though, haven’t been much kahawai action in the harbour this year which is weird. Best bet is to go down to Taieri Mouth but you’ll need a freshwater fishing licence
Heading down there in a couple weeks, hopefully some good fish🤙 if ya got any spots aye just help out like ya usually do mate. And as always farkin great video
Where in the harbour are you is it in the upper part near port otago or the area around wellas rock I was thinking of doing some kayak fishing and I don’t know any good spots in the harbour
These KAHAWAI are much better on the ( fly rod ) 6w OR 8 W on a slow sinking wet line anyone thats tried it knows its 10x more fun get that fly rod out !!!!! :)))) THEY RUN FLAT OUT RIGHT OUT INTO THE BACKING !!!!
Mark Tomlinson there’s no point because you wouldn’t land one, not in that current. Maybe in slack water at a river mouth but not a 20 metre channel roaring with current.

Is there any good wharf fishing spots in Dunedin?
ShiftyHQ main wharf near the train station, can catch lots of fish off there.
What gear would you recommend using to catch fish off that wharf? Been there a few times and haven’t got anything before
Should get yourself some small poppers
New Zealand Fish Hunter definitely, I had some bigger ones at home but didn’t think on bringing them.
FishingForeverFilms jump on Ali express and have a look at their 9gm poppers they have a few on their for cheap
My favorite eats. And looking forward to plenty when I come home. I am so sick of salmon.
Maurice Brown cheers bro
