Phil leads us into the King Arthur legend.
"The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table" was Rick Wakeman's second studio album for A&M Records and also the third which he himself describes as a solo album.
It was released on 27 March 1975.
It is a concept album based on the stories and characters of the King Arthur legend.
It actually fulfils the worst prog clichés: a mythological theme, bombastic orchestral music, massive use of choirs.
At the beginning, a meaningful voice announces the well-known prophecy about the sword in the stone - whoever pulls it out shall be king of Britain 🇬🇧 .
Drum rolls and fanfares then introduce the first track, "Arthur", which tells how Arthur finds the stone and pulls out the sword. The music is the soundtrack to a costume ham. Which should not be taken negatively, please.
Wakeman began writing the music in 1974 while recovering from a heart attack, and recorded it with his five-piece band and the English Rock Ensemble and the New World Orchestra and the English Chamber Choir.
It is progressive rock at its best. I love it 🥰 !
Thank you, your Majesty our King 🤴Phil, for sharing this legend.
" It actually fulfils the worst prog clichés: a mythological theme, bombastic orchestral music, massive use of choirs" ......yeeeees and i loved it for that :D :D :D :D
Very good album. Still have my copy from back in the 70's and also on cd. And it's 🥥coconut free!! 😂😂😂
Thank so much for this Phil. You really do come up with the best vinyl playback on YT. The equipment and playback quality are always top notch. I shared a room with my older brother in the seventies and I've loved this album ever since he played it to death on his Dansette :)
Kind words thank you! Pleased you enjoy the channel, stay tuned and feel free to share the content!
I share your memory

I've got a request Phil. Two great tracks on vinyl - either or. "State Of Independence" by Donna Summer, or "Gorecki" by Lamb.
Great suggestions - I've put them on the list!
