Don’t mind the new design concept but Love the clean look of the redesign. BMW needs more stability in their designs
The original BMW design looks so good! love the new X3
You made it look like a Buick from the early 2000s
Yeah, agree. A bit too American imo
Yeah but it already looked like a Buick
This is one of your best redesigns you've made imo. Truly makes it actually pretty decent looking. Still, I would like to see the side changed as well as that is definitely an issue with the current design. Also the front and rear don't quite match each other, front is a rigid and quite straight design while the rear is a lot more organic, kind of becomes two ideas fighting with each other.
I think you should send your redesign to BMW to make them realise how badly they screwed up . Well done !
I like the new x3. Your redesign makes the car look more static imo
Nahh BMW makes BMW look more static xD
In the front the redesign looks more static indeed, I also like this new X3
Great rear design. Much less cluttered and adding some harmony in the design, one of the key characteristics of BMWs in the past.
Now you made a Land Rover Velar in the front hahaha. The diagonal lines are a graphic move that’s coming from a few of their previous concepts. A cross hatch they’ve become infatuated with
in couple of hours you have created something much more superior to what bmw design department has been working for few years. congrats - you alone are better than dozen of 22 year old colleague graduates for some reason sitting on bmw's payroll
The color and the frontend, the new X3 definitely looks like a capybara on the road.
Front looks so much better 👍I wonder if the aftermarket will come up with something like this.
Rear also an improvement, but it still doesn't feel completely right to me
The redesign is cool and i coyld accept it if that were the official design..
Though the front fascia looks like an F90 M5 blew up tall, which isn't a bad thing.
It's nice 👍🏻👍🏻
These modern interiors have made me appreciate the new Bugatti Tourbillion
@Thesketchmonkey I would like to see a redesign of the Nissan Titan based on the first generation Titan. Nissan is planning to end production of the Titan this summer and cancel the truck. I would like to see what a new one using the original design might look like, hopefully it will get their attention and create some hope for this Nissan fan.
I like the rear redesign but I don't like the front
This redesign is a rare case where I personally think the before design looks better even though I dislike what BMW has done too.
Just the overall shape of it makes it void of any improvements.
I like the 2018!
I always enjoy your videos and appreciate your perspective. I have a 2020 X3 and love the looks and performance of the vehicle. My only concern is the horrible stiff ride. I put on aftermarket springs, which helps, but make sure to do a full test drive as the ride is quite jarring. Other than that I love my car.
i dont know about you but for me the new design does not give bmw vibes and the redesign gives skoda x range rover vibes
Like your redesigned of the X3 which has improved it. Didn’t have issue with design of grill, just that something wasn’t right with the overall design. Rear lights are fine, but the interior does not works. The out going model was classy whilst this new car fails to keep the subtle design.
Great redesign, i would have liked a chamfer for the grill as well, or atleast a very small seperation between the grill and the headlights with body colour. Or I guess i just don't like the LEDs in the grill, it should just be blacked out.
I feel what impacts the bulbous look more are the side panels not having any sharp/sporty lines and the weird non-circular wheel arches. I'd like to see how you would incorporate those in your redesign
BMW needs to have you redesign their entire lineup. So much better and more “BMW”
I love the rear end redesign of yours but honestly I love the front end of the original… it’s actually more funky and less static than your own front end redesign
I agree fully
Also in my eyes a huge huge improvement!
Hey can you the ND3 miata, specially the rear end. Thanks.
Much better - it looks a properly integrated design
Reintroduce cover for rear cup holders, draw cover to centre console and the means to drop seats
I totally agree the 2018 generation it’s definitely the best looking
Congratulations on the redesign! You could also have removed the vertical division in the front lower intake that BMW now seems to put in every car. And make the wheel arches graphics more traditionally round instead of the squarish thing that BMW is putting now.
2018’s X3 was perfect design!
Thank you for removing the black plastic below the kidneys. That thing alongside the lower vertical division are two of the works things of recent BMWs!
Please review/redesign the 2025 M5.
They’ve made it look like a Kia Forte had a forbidden love-child with a brick.
Well, maybe not exactly like that, but it looks more like an Asian sedan now, at least in my opinion.
So you reckon you can design a better BMW than BMW? Would love to see your original car designs.
Redesign > Production
While I don’t hate the outside of the new x3 your design has a lot more confidence, some changes I would maybe have done differently myself, but the original design just has so much doubt and uncertainty.
Nice!
I love the 2022 one
Hot take: The new X3 looks great. It's the pinnacle of futurism and it's going to stay good-looking for a very long time.
no
For Chinese Market yes
@@uzisol ah now it makes sens lmao
I think it looks great too, the shape of the rear looks good and reminds me a bit of the back of the G02 X4. The front looks better than I thought it would.
i really think that the design will age just fine, just like the current x5 that people hated or the newest 5&7 series. BUT my problem is, it looks too crossover-ish instead of an SUV. For some reason, it just looks small, more like an X1/GLA level.
5 series looks like crap compared to the 7 series, the 5 series looks like being designed by a Japanese, especially the inspiration comes from a Honda Accord for the front fascia, and a Toyota Camry at the rear
I really don’t like the new X3 design. Have a 2020 X3 M40i. Sticking with it.
I like your design, but it's less aggressive look. The front looks more massive and it competes with X7 😂
I like the new grille design even if it's not connecting perfectly.
In the back, I like both tail lights, but your curvature looks better.
My fav X3 is actually G01 LCI because of the tail lights. The original lights are too big, too weird.
Feels a lot better, but not a big fan of the crashed headlights, feels less aggressive and more static.
Bmw is starting to look like GTA V cars
I like BMW is going towards clean design. I like new X3.
this is why YOU should be head of design for BMW
love most of your redesigns, also you made me understand why I like a design and what conflicts when i think something was off
You said it yourself, the X3 looks like a minivan and you made it look like a small SUV, which looks great.
The black plastic on the first gen looks tactic, military, land rover-ish, and I kinda like it
Congrats, you made the front end look like the new Lincoln Nautilus…. I’m glad BMW has differentiation between models and they’re taking risks. They could be like Audi or MB where you can’t even tell what model it is until you get up close.
Great redesign
Nah man the redesign looks horrible, WTF
@jjjjjjj3376 the car overall just looks ass! It still doesn't look good but it definitely looks better
So you basically made BMW X7 before facelift?
I have to admit I like the original headlights more than the redesigned ones.
All X3's look good except the 2025.
The E83 still looks the ugliest to me
why didn't you redesign the m50 version
BMW should hire you and fire whom ever is designing their cars these days sheesh!
BMW are truly lost 😢
You have to work for BMW. Your design is way better than theirs. They should make everything they can to get you on their team!
Just as you said, X3 is always the weird child 😅
„Chamfer“ mentioned in this video: 4 times
This redesign is so much better to look at. I was so much annoyed by that headlight slightly poking the kidneys. It annoyed the hell out of me. Hopefully BMW starts from the scratch and think again about their designs. I used to love BMW but now I just can't help but see them as just an automotive product.
in my opinion, the redesign is looking comfortable at present but BMW maybe catches the next two years? btw the new X3 is way better than 5 sedan
Exactly that thing looks like a Accord and a Camry mashed up, plus the 7 series looks decent after seeing the new 5 series
So much better.
Onloy thing I would've kept is the kidneys the same size
I believe someone from BMW is sabotaging the company 😅
I don't mind the front of the new one, or your design. But that rear end is a lost cause not matter how hard you try lol
More spaceships from
BMW
I like your deisings better than this version of the X3 2024
That redesign is *CLEAN!*
You make the design go backward in time lol
bro you just turned it into the non-Msport version
redesigned front looks like an Skoda lol idk why
It looks so much better now
You have inspired me so much that I look at cars and try to make some changes on things that annoys me 😅
Thanks my mentor
This looks like it could be an X1 like it looks soft and cartoonish. Your redesign makes it look more stately like an X3 should. These cars are pushing 60k they shouldn't look like an X1.
❤❤❤
I like your redesign way better, but bmw made that thing way too beefy..lol😂
Bro just made a 5 Series SUV and calls it a redesign 😂
I normally agree with your redesign but even you putting 2 led housings is old and making the head lights sooo big is very late 2000’s we do have to remember that even in there first x3 was funky and aimed for youth and playful and so called more affordable
If you wanted a more serious design pay more and get the x5
I believe its youthful playful and colours a more in trend then your x5
At the end of the day its a bmw and it looks better then the Chinese brands and there being unique which most brands copy each other
current BMWs look like a 5yo was asked to draw them from memory
I understand your logic but I feel like it just makes the car more boring and generic. Lines don’t always have to be symmetric and aligned. Look at modern art, modern interior design etc and I think you will start to see what BMW was thinking. I think their execution is not perfect but at least it looks new and different.
The 2018 model looks the best, by far. As of lately, BMW has lost its design mojo big time.
The weirdest part to me is the from the rear three quarter view… the back glass is too small and the D-pillar is angled weird almost like the XM. Also no wheel arches makes the side look bland like ugly iX
Not a fan of the original design, but I like yours even less it gives me beaver vibes like the infamous IX
Before redesign:🤡
After redesign:😈
10 times better
Hyundai lookin headlights killed me but looks great other wise
Original = NO
Redesigned = HELL NO
Funny enough when you put the redesign next to the original design...
The original design looked just how a BMW would look, it looks so BMW i don't know how to explain it, it looked more BMW than the redesign
Your front end doesnt work. Sorry
Modern BMWs need to be seen in person. The design choices they make don’t reflect when in videos. BMW is doing what Lexus did starting with the 4th gen GS back in 2012. Make heavily designed cars that spark curiosity and emotion as ultimately that is what sells. Part of getting a luxury car or any product is the image it exudes. BMW has the performance and newfound reliability to back up its designs, Lexus has reliability to back up its designs. You can’t really blame them tho, bc the numbers have really shown that the actual customer base likes these designs choices.
I have to say that i am starting to see a bit of the spindle grill in modern BMWs. The black detailing under the kidneys is getting pretty annoying and lazy gotta admit
Your redesign is the better looking. But still because it's based on the BMW actual redesign, it looks too angular, too EV-ish. Not feeling it.
The shape and dimension of the overall vehicle is also awkward. They made it longer and lower. Station wagon vibes instead of the sporty SUV.
i would buy your design
I absolutely hate all these new BMW designs… it pisses me off. I guess I won’t be getting a new one anytime soon.
I was originally a potential buyer of the new X3, but when I saw the design of the X3, my first reaction was, oh, it's really ugly. I won't spend a penny on it
The 2025 X3 has a bloated/puffy face, and overall messy design features all over the body.
Even the old X2 M-design looks better than this!
I see every change you made and understand that it looks cleaner. But it’s looks like the generic version of their design. Theirs just has that extra touch that says “hey.”
You’re redesign look much better
you had a BMW but you made a Kia :(
Sorry i dont like your redesign, the front is very ‘in your face’ now. I think the x3 is 95% perfect, the only thing that i think doesnt sork is the shapet triangle shape of the headlight ending at the grill, which gives it a fragile look. If this triangle stopped a little earlier and was squared of it would look a lot better
My hot take: x3 has never been a good looking vehicle to begin with, the 2018 my being the most acceptable looking. Bmw's new models have no speck of it's original bmw identity left, so much that there really is not much any designer can do to improve the looks short of designing the entire car from scratch again.
Bro is saying a whole lotta nothing
BMW lost it with the design lately. I don't think even your re-design saved the front end. When you cleared the mess, the front end turned into Range Rover. Rear re-design really saved it though. Don't even get me started with the interior, what a mess
They look like Chinese cars
Cmon, the outside looks ok it doesnt need a fix... its the inside that has the problem, cheap loooking materials, almost everything is plastic and everything is so plain that looks like a cheap chinese EV
Honestly the new one is not bad at all..they nailed it by not goin too overboard in an extremely weird way and kept the grille to moderate size..it's an agressive and stylish look I feel and maybe the only thing that's questionable is the diagonal grille inlets on the base model 😖
Hi Marouane, I have been watching all of your videos on the new BMWs lately, and I have an overall observation ( I do not have any academic knowledge in design, but I love to sketch cars and am a petrolhead). I agree with all of your opinions and comments regarding BMW's recent design language. I mean, there is not really any room for disagreeing-- the new BMW designs are obviously hideous! However, your damage control sketches aren't working that well, either. For example, this particular one didn't work out IMO. Despite all your reasonings behind the edits being spot on, it ended up looking bland.
My theory is that these BMW designs are irrecoverable. Underlying the weird graphic, these are weirdly shaped: there is no curve anywhere. The 'industrial' looks creating the impression of sheets of metal being pressed together, and no distinct stances, also lines and shapes bending abruptly without any flow. BMW is deliberately trying to create a design language that stands out specifically because it is unelegant, brazen, and disruptive. I think BMW is well aware that anyone who grew up seeing 80s, 90s, and 2000s BMWs and having an emotional bond or attraction towards BMWs will be simply repulsed. Maybe they have a different breed of customers to which these cars appeal. I mean, we live in a world where Tesla trucks are also selling like hotcake! I would say that if you want to redesign these abominations, please also consider reshaping and correcting the odd lines. For example, BMW tried to give the new M2 the same wide body kit shape as the E30 M3 and failed poorly I would say. Meanwhile, Audi made a brilliant homage to the Audi 90 GTO though their RS6 GT (almost the same can be said for the Ferrari Daytona--> Dodici Cilindri). I would be super thrilled to see you redesign the M2 like that: properly reshaped and restructured to make it look like a perfect reimagination of E30 M3, or this X3 reshaped to have more curves and flowing lines.
