    What was shocking to me was a kid starting lose hair at such a young age. Without any medical condition like alopecia. Without having genetics of hair loss. There has to be some stress he must be going thru in the house. Men in general wont stress out so much at such low age that they would start going bald. Isnt that evident??

    • @ju3041
      @ju3041 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +64

      yes, that really made me feel so bad for the kid who had so much intense stress that he started to lose hair. It's actually very common among abuse victims. The level of fear, stress, disgust and terror that these two brothers went through, to get to the point of no return and doing the unthinkable. When you have their whole family repeating time and time again that they were good kids, that they've always been gentle and nice, and all of these family members witnessing weird and inaproppriate behavior from the parents - it's already so much indication that they were suffering all these years. If they were so calculating that they "murdered their parents for money" there would be many indications that they were actually cold hearted, so why did no family member ever say that...?
      It's almost like the entire system made sure to show through this case that kids who are being abused never ever have the courage to speak up because otherwise you'll be pubicly ridiculed, laughed at, called liar and put in prison anyway.

      They used the media propaganda machine and late talk shows, SNL skits, day time talk shows, to drowned out all the expert therapists testimonies so the masses would forget it. Prosecution was lying behind the scenes. View what Judalon Smyth says about Pamela Bizanich in part 2 of her testimony. She states the prosecution just lies and is why Judalon did trust them. Prosecution were very corrupt. They probably paid a few media outlets to keep their narrative going to the public.

      So they can spend their remaining years fighting in court again? No, it is best they enjoy their freedom if they get out. This happened so long ago at a time of severe corruption in the DA office. This justice department is never going to admit publicly that it was corrupt. Everyone knows it, but it's never been addressed. The judge is in his 80's most of the prosecution from second trial is too old or dead now. Actually during an appeal many years ago by the brothers to the supreme court justice of appeals, one judge out of three questioned why the brothers defense was taken away from them among other things during the second trial. He saw it as unruly. However he was outnumbered by the other 2 judges. So it's an impossible fight with a system that has so much power.

    These poor men had to sit in the courtroom and relive the trauma of their childhood up to adulthood in a nationally televised hearing with photos of their 6 and 8 year old bodies being shown for 11 weeks!!! To tell the story consistently and accurately for that long and for the prosecutor to say you probably imagined that or that is what you wanted to happen is infuriating to hear. I was 8 years old when the murders happened and a freshman at trial and the media portrayed them as preppy rich brats greedy for money. Now listening to the facts, I see these two men were hurting and as a mother now I feel compassion and empathy for them. And yes a preppy rich kid can have a horrible life behind closed doors at home. No social class or status are exempt from having pedophiles or rapists among them

      @@S.Blonde But that isn't what happened. Their juries ended in a hung trial. Women voted manslaughter, men voted murder. At the time, people still did not believe men could be victims of s*xual abuse. People did not want to believe incest happened. The 2nd jury did NOT get to hear the full story because the judge through out their abuse testimonies/allegations (including 6 previous witness who were not allowed to testify at all!) the prosecution and the JUDGE said that because they were males and because they were children during the abuse that the battered women's syndrome law did not come into play so they could not use the abuse and imperfect defense to plead their case. They lost the ability to tell their story. The jury did NOT get to hear the story, the testimonies, the evidence. The 2nd jury was given 2 options. Guilty of murder or not guilty. Everyone knew the brothers did it because they said they did but they lost their ability to defend themselves in the 2nd trial. They should have had the option to defend themselves and be found guilty of manslaughter. Past jurors have even come out saying they did not know the whole story and had they heard it, they would not have voted yes to murder. Some past jurors have stayed in touch with the brothers.

      @firehorse66elaine you'll have to go back to the doctors testimony from the first trial, but the damage was definitely of a sexual nature. He said so on the stand. The child not only had severe tissue damage to the palette of the roof of his mouth, but his uvula at the back of the throat (the little dangling thing) was nearly torn off. This damage was from something being repeatedly jammed into the childs mouth. He was, I think, 6 years old at the time

      @@S.Blonde It was because of the judge. They had hung juries for a reason in their 1st trials. The judge then tossed out their abuse allegations as defense. He said they were not protected by the battered women's syndrome law because that law protected women only. Not children and not men. He took away their ability to defend themselves in the 2nd combined trial. He also had 6 witnesses from the 1st trials kicked out from the 2nd trial. They were given the options of a guilty charge for murder or not guilty. The brothers had already admitted to what they did but no longer had the ability to defend themselves. The jury did not get to hear their defense present it's case for the abuse and the fear that let to the crime. The judge forced a guilty charge by taking away their defense. That was on the judge. The juries can not make a proper decision without the defense having the ability to defend themselves.

      I bear secondary trauma scars from my kids’ life stories and primary trauma from being beaten against by a kindergarten girl then accused of bullying *her* and mandated to attend a meeting…so, society needs to pay more attention to happenings around them, take an interest, take a stand, protect the vulnerable, and make demands.
      Teachers, social workers, nurses, counselors, etc. are at the end of the river desperately trying to snatch kids from going over the falls. We didn’t put them there. The more and more I dig into this trial (I’m 49 now and remember it going on, but didn’t pay too much attention at the time) this breaks my heart more and more. They were railroaded by the system and if they’d been females it would have been totally different. I pray they get a new trial or released. 😓🙏

      Nope, the same men who didn't care that the Mendez Brothers were abused were the same men in society that would claim women who were abused brought it on themselves. There's a reason Feminism exists.

      Acá no se trata de género porque muchas mujeres no hemos recibido justicia, se trata es de que los abusivos paguen. Deja de comparar víctimas que de eso ni se trata.

    The big reason (aside from the disallowance of the SA claims) in the second trial for the guilty verdicts is the OJ verdict. Jurors were afraid to find the brothers not guilty based on public perception.

    • @mb8219
      @mb8219 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not so much the jurors. There have been jurors who said if they had known about the abuse - and they didn't because it was excluded from the 2nd trial - they would have voted in favour of the boys back then. Some were horrified when they had learnt of the abuse. On the other hand the judge and DA/Prosecutors were the ones hell bent getting a conviction and I think if the judge could have had his way he would have sentenced them to death! Can you imagine.?!

    OH Jesus!!! 😢💔😭😭 My Heart breaks for them!! Their Pain is SO Deep! No one can truly understand it but them. Why is there So much Suffering in this world?! 😭 Why do Children have to go through this?! They might have been Wealthy but they were Completely Broken people, no amount of wealth & comfort can give you satisfaction if you are Tormented like this on a daily basis as a Child! They, especially Erik, were just Sex Slaves to their Depraved, Safistic Father who took pleasure in Completely Dominating them knowing he could get away with it because of their Pathetically Wretched Mothers enabling! They were just Children! Totally & Completely Vulnerable from such a young age 😢💔 Truly breaks my heart! They Need to be set Free! What a Disgusting Miscarriage of Justice! What a Tragic Evil done to them! Let them go, Let them Finally Live their Lives Free of this Evil & Depravity! Love from South Africa ❤

    I was pretty young when this case played out and while I knew of the case and the murders, I never knew of the details. My gosh, now learning of the absolutely HORRIFIC details of abuse, I am just flabbergasted that this all played out as it did. The abuse is difficult to even consider as a total stranger to these men. I can’t imagine for them and those close to the circumstances how profoundly awful it must’ve been. The parents will have been held accountable by their Creator upon their deaths. I take some solace in that fact. I hope the re-evaluation of this case brings justice.

    I’m so glad this vid post used the term oral rape vs oral sex. I realize we know more re: sexual violence now vs then but it kills me watching Erik have to recount his experiences so painfully, and the term “sex” being used throughout. It may seem like a small detail but for survivors I hope we’ve learned the difference since then and words matter

    No one ever questions rich people. A lifetime of abuse went by without intervention and the results were horrific. I understand the brothers needed to be sentenced for their crime, because at their age they could have gotten help. A reason to murder someone doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get punished, just perhaps less time.
