    Love and appreciate the information you share! I use various techniques that really become one experience in a natural environment with gross and fine motor activities-- so many opportunities for using gestures and continuous engagement-- taking a trip back to go forward. most of my sessions with my language learners are gross motor and social interactive with encouragement to request sensory breaks including quiet. Many times I will ask the question by checking in or I will notice them becoming dis-regulated, label or narrate what I observe "it looks like you are wanting sounds..." and prompt them with a modeled prompt accordingly for imitation. Gross motor activities for an appropriate learner will provide many opportunities for narrating and labeling as well as teaching natural expressions, running preference assessments, and to checking in.

    Thank you for putting all of this information out there. My little guy is just over 2 and is a late talker. I have been really learning a lot from you and really wish I would have known so much of this when my little guy was 8-10 months. I feel like we are a bit behind but I also feel like it’s not the end of the world because there are so many kids out there that have had and do have these challenges that are able to succeed.
    Thank you for your videos and time.

      Try not to worry! You never know what you don’t know until you know! Also regardless of age all kids will run through the same sequence so start at the bottom and build confidence and motivation and your child for accomplishing the easier task and then move on to the more difficult ones! You can do it! I believe in you! 💛

    Any tips for a child that isn’t answering questions? Like what is your favorite color? Are you hungry? Yes or no questions have been the biggest struggle. Thank you!

      Hey there! Do you notice that he enjoys rhythmic books / rhyming books / shows / songs, etc? Does he repeat what he hears on shows, tv, from other people often?

    • @Jadeiscool112
      @Jadeiscool112 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheSpeechScoop yes he does likes rhymes, songs and he repeats what he hears in the videos and also repeats what we ask him to say..but he does not say things functionally like when he is actually suppose to use them.

    Hi my baby is 19 months.sign of autism and don’t speak any word.only make some sound ,not for communication.he makes sounds alone.I try some therapy from TH-cam.he looks on my eye and mouth.he found me funny and he laughs and happy,but don’t try to copy.how can I teach him to speak?please help me from which video I can start with my boy..thank you

    • @TheSpeechScoop
      @TheSpeechScoop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would start working on prelinguistic skills! You can look up “11 prelinguistic skills chart” and there is a great one from teach me to talk. Laura mise also has some fantastic prelinguistic ideas
      And then work on imitating actions, and teaching gestures prior to teaching words and talking!
      I also have a video on gestalt language processors which 85% of children diagnosed with autism process information and that way son I do have a video on “jargon and echolalia: gestalt language processors” and it will definitely help and understanding how to work with your little one at home!!

    • @TheSpeechScoop
      @TheSpeechScoop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! Keep working on the vowels and then building consonants overtime starting with the first developmentally appropriate consonants /m, p, b/
      Check out my apraxia videos for speech sound hand cues to learn how to cue the sounds!

      So that sounds like an expressive language delay

  • @jenanabdulwahed
    @jenanabdulwahed 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi 👋 I have a question my 2.5 little one has lots of single words and phrases but has hasn’t got a lot of gestures , can’t turn take etc would you suggest we go back to work on these prelinguistic skills?

    • @TheSpeechScoop
      @TheSpeechScoop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm no, not necessarily. If he waves “bye/hi,” blows kisses, gives high fixes, and points, I would not recommend going back. If he does not, I would recommend going back because I might think his expressive language is higher than receptive & we don’t want to increase that gap because it’s harder to go backward to improve! Let me know if you have other questions!

    • @jenanabdulwahed
      @jenanabdulwahed 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes she does wave , does gestures to over 50 songs , points etc so I’ll just keep working on building words and use more gestures during our play time

    hi i’m 14 and my surname is ormerod and people always mistake me for saying ‘wormerod’ or something with a ‘w’ and i get that with loads of other words with ‘r’ in them ive tried some of the exercises from one of your videos a year ago for helping with saying the letter ‘r’ and i’ve had no luck with them so far was just wondering if you had anything i could try

    • @TheSpeechScoop
