I think it would be useful to be able to use it within your plugin to create the correction curve for printing, so that multiple points can be interpolated.

I have a plugin which can do just that, please see www.digitalblackandwhite.co.uk/paper-grey-curves/

@@dbw I know, I purchased it, but in my opinion it has too few interpolation points. With 21 points, it could possibly work better when the paper's dmax is low. Starting from a higher black point, it has too few points to interpolate the curve and ends up lightening the image too much. Could it work better with more points? Can you recommend the best consumer spectrophotometer for printing?

@@danieleaccardo2217 Personally, I would have liked to have had 21 points on the curve but Adobe only allows us to plot around 14 points on a curve. As for the spectrophotometer for printing, I personally like the DataColor Spyder Print

What do you use the wedges for? If you print them, how do you know that the values have been printed correctly?

Print the step wedges through your normal workflow, just as you would a photograph. Then looking at the patches will tell you if you have good tonal separation between them. Some papers do not respond very well down the bottom end of the scale, they can lead to crushed tones in the shadows so using the patches will aloow you to see how well/poor that particular paper is.
