I have one of these and like it pretty well--the "double gate" feature is more convenient compared to a regular carabiner. However, I find it interesting that for only a couple bucks more than what most of the "keychain grade" carabiners cost, you can purchase some of the simpler climbing grade carabiner. No, they may not lock, etc. but they are rated for much more weight, which could come in handy in a pinch.
nice review- good item to use for attaching at a constant hold with the ability to use bottom half for hold and release- similar to a trapeze style function. I tried it for some time and would advise against it to hold key rings . I dropped key rings of it so many times ,just really glad I was not over a drain grid or walking out an elevator when my keys fell out of it. This also does not work well with one-handed use it is too narrow a profile to be stable when needed , I use a climbing carbnr
@gorillius hi: if you hook your key ring and wrap it all the way around the top of the "S" and CONTINUE to PUSH the key ring all way way down the center bar (bringing along the left side wire if you look at the s-biner so that it looks like a right side up "S") and push it all the way until the key ring is free from the left side wire, you will find that your key ring cannot fall off anymore.
i've had a few of the s-biners for several uses around camp and my bag. the spring tension on the gates just are not strong enough and key rings will just slide down into the notch the gate rests in and then right off. i do not trust the s-biners for anything where loosing the item would be bad (like keys). i do use my s-biners to hook my nalgene bottle to my bag or hanging things from my hammock suspension.

People should be aware that Nite-Ize also sells a plastic version of the S-biner which isn't nearly as good. THANKS!!! :o)
