But I want to add hopefully the takeaway is not that sighted people are "lucky", but that blind people are capable, happy, and ultimately, just like you! And maybe even more than that, it's not even about blind or sighted, it's just two great performers.
This gives me goosebumps. My Dad died of cancer in 1999. This song was one of his favourites as he literally lay on his death bed. 7 years later, on my Dad's birthday, my son was born. He was diagnosed as congenitally blind. He, like Chris, strives to break down barriers and stereotypes. Blind people are no more incredible than sighted folk, but my God, do they work so hard and think outside the box. Chris, you're an inspiration. To my son, you are incredible. ❤
I’ve been watching Strictly for years, and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier about someone lifting that glitterball trophy. I’m not from the UK, so I usually don’t know most of the contestants. Let me tell you… getting to know Chris and watching him every week was such a joy. He is so naturally funny and engaging, his dancing was brilliant, but what I love the most about him is his gentle soul that shone through his interactions with the wonderful Dianne. You could tell how much he appreciated her. Those kisses on the back of her hand after every single dance and the genuine “did I do well?” as they embraced got me every time. You did so well, Chris. This was honestly one of the most brilliant, iconic and joyful show dances that I've ever seen on strictly come dancing! I'm so, so thrilled that Chris and Dianne won, they are absolutely incredible and have proven that anything is possible and you can achieve things that other people believe you can't! ❤❤

Score - *10* Chris has brought his best game and at the best time, this was so joyous to watch, and yeah he does have the music in him 100%, this was so beautiful, his ballroom has always been amazing, lovely to see such an improvement on the Tango he originally did. The power and energy gave throughout never faded and I love how happy Dianne is everytime they finish, she's just the best and the most worthiest pro of the gliterrball, her and Chris have worked to a level nobody has ever on Strictly before and it shows with how beautifully consistent they've been each week, this was just pure magic and entertainment, everything a Showdance is truly about! ❤

After quite honestly the worst year of my entire life this has been the best thing to happen all year for me. I see you don’t achieve those dreams the dreams that I have for myself after being snob so tight and for her to achieve that with Chris who is to fight all arts has honestly made me so emotional and I am so happy for her, and for him
Chris and Dianne thoroughly deserved to win it and to do three dances in the final I thought was exceptional - also to remember all those steps without any visuals at all is immense - I liked it when Chris said he wanted so much for Diane to win it this time aswell 😊👍
All of the comments about him not being the best dancer when it's rare that the best dancer actually wins. The last time was probably Kelvin Fletcher in 2019 but its a rarity that you get someone who is the best dancer AND connects with the public which is the most important part
I knew it was in the bag after this performance. Tbf all the finalists danced amazingly well but Chris and Dianne have just been such a beautiful pairing and I adore them both.

The lyrics of this are very apt. “You only get what you give” - they gave us joy, great dances, lovely personalities so we gave back the love with votes. “We’re gonna kick you ass” they showed the negative messages that Dianne got that he’s prove them wrong with dancing a humour. So proud to see sarcastic, blunt but not that active Chris become a soft and bouncy young man through the love of dance and help of a sweet friend.

Not trying to be combative, but from a disability rights point of view, “the inspiration vote” is also problematic-you might want to look up the idea of inspiration porn.

@@thegabrielhyde Yes I can understand where youre coming from, even without looking it up, I can understand disabled people not wanting to be an inspiration etc etc, I myself to a degree am disabled by mental health issues and I guess I wouldn't be so happy if someone said I was inspirational, I would rather not have mental health issues and not be inspirational. but still its thought provoking for people to kind of put themselves in someone else's shoes and feel what it might be like and realise that they are overcoming hurdles every single day of their lives and that does to a degree make them inspirational. They are something to aspire to and make you feel more like trying harder with your own challenges. Maybe that sounds more complimentary, but I guess its still inspirational. I think Chris was more than his disability to be honest, it was his personality, the blend of him with Diane, she also has a lovely personality so the two together blend into something special, Maybe Chris would not have been as popular with another pro. But together they had a winning formula.

Huge congratulations to both Chris & Dianne, thoroughly deserved...i never stopped voting!!! A great genuine partnership, both on and off the dancefloor. They have both brought out special things from one another and surprised each other along their emotional Strictly journey. I hope they continue to dance and to show the world just what people with disabilities can achieve in life, if given the opportunity and loving support. Dianne is already an amazing dancer but on a separate note, as a Teacher to get Chris to that standard of dancing was just jaw dropping. I hope the British Royal Family watched last nights Final, as they both now deserve to be recognised in the New Years Honours List for what they have just achieved and highlighted to the world...that anything is possible regardless of a disability, if you have the right loving support around you. I haven’t watched the show this season, and seeing this made me cry. How, just how do they do that given he is blind. You can see the supreme effect, concentration and training in every step, gesture and movement. With Diane conducting Chris’s movements with Chris throwing himself into the dance and yet continually searching for the synchronisation with Diane through human contact. It is so heartwarming. And to top it off this guy is so funny in real life. And what a gentleman. Thank you both.

This is just astonishing. Astonishing for McCausland being so great AND Buswell for TEACHING a blind man to dance. I saw Chris as a stand up several years ago and he was genuinely a very funny guy. And seeing him now... my flabber has never been so gasted.
Over past few years I have become used to the best dancer not winning but I feel this was the first time in a long time when any one of the finalists would have made worthy winners. I did think from quite early on that Christ had tremendous musicality and timing, not just for a blind guy but in general. It was clear he was doing performances that many people with sight would struggle with. My money was always with Chris but I wouldn't have argued if JB, Sarah Hadland, or Tasha Ghouri had won because they are each brilliant dancers. Strictly really is a great dance completion but not like any other. Others focus almost exclusively on technical prowess whereas, through the decision to let the public decide the winner, SCD takes into account that aspect of dance which is ephemeral. It comes in the form of joy, pleasure as well as technical competence. Chris is certainly an inspiration for people as his success and achievement reminds everyone to look beyond what is immediately apparent and see the potential which may be obscured on all of us. I enjoy SCD but this season really has been one of the best. Well done to Chris and Dianne!
Congratulations Chris and Dianne! I knew would ultimately win. Any one of the others could have won on any other year, including Jamie and Montell, who both went out too soon. My votes actually went to JB, but it seems fitting to have someone extraordinary win the finale that celebrates 20 years of Strictly. It really encapsulates what the show is about, what it does for the participants and viewers, and that it is more than just great dancing. You've been amazing Chris.

Chris is what this show is about , taking a someone who has never danced before and teaching/training them to such a high level that you can't tell who the pro is amazing, and the fact that he is blind is even more amazing 👏 well done dianne and hats off to chris . The lyrics of this are very apt. “You only get what you give” - they gave us joy, great dances, lovely personalities so we gave back the love with votes. “We’re gonna kick you ass” they showed the negative messages that Dianne got that he’s prove them wrong with dancing a humour. So proud to see sarcastic, blunt but not that active Chris become a soft and bouncy young man through the love of dance and help of a sweet friend.

phenemonal, Im so so so so glad Chris and Diane won. I was in tears, anyone saying it was the sympathy vote really hasnt a clue, its the admiration and inspiration vote. Just so so so so so so happy for them.
Not trying to be combative, but from a disability rights point of view, “the inspiration vote” is also problematic-you might want to look up the idea of inspiration porn.
@@thegabrielhyde It's a fair point but Strictly has had a number of celebs with various disabilities and apart from Rose Ayling Ellis, none of them have come close to the final so Chris (and Rose) must have had votes other than the sympathy or inspiration vote
@@thegabrielhyde Yes I can understand where youre coming from, even without looking it up, I can understand disabled people not wanting to be an inspiration etc etc, I myself to a degree am disabled by mental health issues and I guess I wouldn't be so happy if someone said I was inspirational, I would rather not have mental health issues and not be inspirational. but still its thought provoking for people to kind of put themselves in someone else's shoes and feel what it might be like and realise that they are overcoming hurdles every single day of their lives and that does to a degree make them inspirational. They are something to aspire to and make you feel more like trying harder with your own challenges. Maybe that sounds more complimentary, but I guess its still inspirational. I think Chris was more than his disability to be honest, it was his personality, the blend of him with Diane, she also has a lovely personality so the two together blend into something special, Maybe Chris would not have been as popular with another pro. But together they had a winning formula.
@@jackiejo3812 very good point. perhaps personality came into it also, perhaps the pro they were dancing with affected the vote too, there are so many factors, you cannot really pinpoint his popularity to his disability imho. I don't vote but I was really happy that Chris won.

Huge congratulations to both Chris & Dianne, thoroughly deserved...i never stopped voting!!! A great genuine partnership, both on and off the dancefloor. They have both brought out special things from one another and surprised each other along their emotional Strictly journey. I hope they continue to dance and to show the world just what people with disabilities can achieve in life, if given the opportunity and loving support. Dianne is already an amazing dancer but on a separate note, as a Teacher to get Chris to that standard of dancing was just jaw dropping. I hope the British Royal Family watched last nights Final, as they both now deserve to be recognised in the New Years Honours List for what they have just achieved and highlighted to the world...that anything is possible regardless of a disability, if you have the right loving support around you. They have been an inspiration to the UNIVERSE!!! Love and best wishes to you both...keeeeeep dancing!!! Len Goodman will also have been watching, with a big smile on his face. I haven’t watched the show this season, and seeing this made me cry. How, just how do they do that given he is blind. You can see the supreme effect, concentration and training in every step, gesture and movement. With Diane conducting Chris’s movements with Chris throwing himself into the dance and yet continually searching for the synchronisation with Diane through human contact. It is so heartwarming. And to top it off this guy is so funny in real life. And what a gentleman. Thank you both.
Hope you now go back and watch all his dances, well worth it, but have some tissues handy.

This is just astonishing. Astonishing for McCausland being so great AND Buswell for TEACHING a blind man to dance. I saw Chris as a stand up several years ago and he was genuinely a very funny guy. And seeing him now... my flabber has never been so gasted.
Over past few years I have become used to the best dancer not winning but I feel this was the first time in a long time when any one of the finalists would have made worthy winners. I did think from quite early on that Christ had tremendous musicality and timing, not just for a blind guy but in general. It was clear he was doing performances that many people with sight would struggle with. My money was always with Chris but I wouldn't have argued if JB, Sarah Hadland, or Tasha Ghouri had won because they are each brilliant dancers. Strictly really is a great dance completion but not like any other. Others focus almost exclusively on technical prowess whereas, through the decision to let the public decide the winner, SCD takes into account that aspect of dance which is ephemeral. It comes in the form of joy, pleasure as well as technical competence. Chris is certainly an inspiration for people as his success and achievement reminds everyone to look beyond what is immediately apparent and see the potential which may be obscured on all of us. I enjoy SCD but this season really has been one of the best. Well done to Chris and Dianne!

Congratulations Chris and Dianne! I knew would ultimately win. Any one of the others could have won on any other year, including Jamie and Montell, who both went out too soon. My votes actually went to JB, but it seems fitting to have someone extraordinary win the finale that celebrates 20 years of Strictly. It really encapsulates what the show is about, what it does for the participants and viewers, and that it is more than just great dancing. You've been amazing Chris.
