I just bought the sea side aquatics fish trap. It has a feed cylinder so the food drops into the trap only and a good door latch mechanism. I was skeptical it would be that easy too. Skipped feeding the first day. The second day I put food in the cylinder and swished it around a little so they could smell the food. Not even 3 minutes later I caught my neon dotty back devil. I broke down the rock works so many times to catch fish before. Will not go without a trap now. Well worth the money.
The yellow goby is very gentle with corals and don't squeeze around much. It usually just very lightly lands on coral, vs. the green goby likes to squeeze among coral heads... if that makes sense?
I was super psyched and lost my cool-as-a-cucumber composure, lol! I don't have a DSB, had a half-assed one when there was still sand in my refugium. It was not deep enough and definitely not large enough an area to be effective.
Just wondering if your going with a bigger tank why are you still going to get ride of the tang their so hard to keep and with one that has no ick you should hold on to him ?
I just don't think the big tank will be ready in time, so as soon as the tang is too large for this 45g I'm re-homing it. Oddly I haven't had much issue with blue tangs ever since the beginning! It's on my bullet-proof list of fish in terms of track record... on the flip side I have more problems with "easier" fish disappearing in my past tanks. Very odd.
i think the blue tang will be ok for a few more weeks. i would hang the fish trap from your light so its up off the bottom and just in front of the frog spawn. i would think you would have better luck catching the blue tang that way. also one would think that you are going to get only one shoot at this as soon as that door moves the blue tang is going shoot straight out. i would allow him to go in and out a few times before closing the door. blue tangs to have a good memory. i hope this helps and go luck. by the way good catch. 👍
Thank you Yoshi, good idea since the tang seems to hang out higher up in the water column. The trap does have small holes at the top for hanging so what you say will probably work!
hey, I was researching the copper band butterfly today and came across a previous video of yours. I was wondering how much success you had with it, did you get it eating? also, did it ever bother your anemone? any info would be much appreciated
Hey Graham, you found my olddd video! =) the Copperband unfortunately did not last long in my old tank, probably 3 weeks? If I remember correctly it did eat live black worm but one day it just disappeared. It never bothered my RBTA / Purple LTA and knew to stay clear of them. I think finding a healthy speciman that is already eating at the LFS would be pretty key... also if you can pick one up that had been successful in someone else's tank would be an obvious choice as well!
Inappropriate Reefer thanks for the reply. I'll keep a good look out for a good specimen. keep up the good work and informative videos. I've learned a lot from what u say 😁
Your conure is really cool I had one last year and he was awesome but he hated my kids and I mean hated them hahaha so he had to get rehomed..... good job on catching the fish ... you'd think it would be easy wouldn't you hahaha I guess having the bird wanting to play didn't make it too easy for you lmao 🤗
Hahaha! I keep hearing that parrots are the equivilant of having a 2-year-old kid that never grows up... I am not sure if I look forward to fatherhood now, my parrot sometimes can really be a handfull!!
awesome job buddy. The tang looks OK for now.

the tang looks like he will be ok for a couple of months dont be too hasty to give him away/trade him in he has plenty of room. great video
That was very cool ! Do I see a yellow goby also if so he doesn't bother your polyps

Luv the parrot, do more videos with him/her
I love the reaction to the catch. HAHA. Good job!
Great job catching the fish .. i would say hes ok for a couple of months
Hilarious reaction when the goby was trapped! Lol
I'm a big fan of your tank. Everything looks great. Are you using a DSB?
I was super psyched and lost my cool-as-a-cucumber composure, lol! I don't have a DSB, had a half-assed one when there was still sand in my refugium. It was not deep enough and definitely not large enough an area to be effective.
what kind of fish tank is that is is the new nano max from red sea ?

Nice! I need to try this.
Love the White Belly Caique, it's funny alot of reef keeprs I know also have birds and alot of other pets.
Pretty awesome that you actually recognize the White Bellied Caique, do you keep birds as well?
Inappropriate Reefer yes, I have a sun conure.
The tang is swimming comfortably, I would say you have more than a month before it's an issue.

hope the saltwater don't make your parrot insane lol
That blue tang is fine man. He still has months to go I think.
Oh and awesome bringing in the parrot.
Funny as hell bro. what if the parrot crapes in the tank?
May have a mini algae bloom =D
What’s the name of the big coral in the centre at the top of the tank?
Frogspawn 👍
Does your parrot scratch the glass when it holds onto the edge?
No problem with my parrot hanging onto the side so far!
Your bird is drinking salt water. That's bad for your bird.
Yes it really is
The blue tang is tiny it can stay couple more months
I think he's fine u should remove him once he triples in size
Thanks guys; don't know about tripling in size but I think I may be OK with him being another half inch longer...
Lol brilliant! I want one.

Inappropriate Reefer I'd say parrots are slightly worse but then I have 4 daughters and they could out talk any parrot hahaha they never shut up lmao
Nice bird
Love the parrot lol
Use a turkey baster with food suspended in water and blow the suspension in the trap
Also frozen or live food atract better
Hope that bird doesn't poop in the tank. Might be good luck, though. :D
Epic
Reefer mean stoner ☘💨😆
O my god the caique is going to poop in the water can't look
Extra nutrient? =)
you can use a algea magnet next time and make the trap stick to side of tank
Solid tip!
