    Outstanding learning video. A few other things I have learnt bagging fish..... 1) sometimes you want a double bag and sometimes you want say newspaper between bags just to make the transport even less stressfull for fish. Marine fish can be spiney! 2) some bags dont have rounded corners, and this may put a fish at risk of injury if they are in a corner and it gets squashed by the bag being placed down a certain way. So some bags its worth taping the corners. 3) the trick you see Cam do where he rolls down the bag to create a "floaty" before placing bag in aquarium is more important than it looks. It has many uses but is super useful for holding bags open during fish transfers, and during acclimatization. 4) when it really matters, consider using double rubber bands, this gives you some insurance if one breaks. 5) different guage nets have different speeds, but faster coarser nets are are more likely to damage fish eyes and slime coat. Using a slow large soft fine net as a blocker/trapper and a smaller fast coarse net as a chaser works well for me. 6) Some fish are easier to catch after lights out when they are sleeping, tactical ninja style. 7) fast fish are weak to slow net tactics and slow fish are weak to fast net tactics. Often a fast fish will just swim into a slow or stationary net if given half the chance. 8) be super careful not to crush fish heads when you bring net against glass..... its a bad end to the effort. 9) if a fish gets a fin caught in a net, always cut the net and never the fish!!!! 10) If its a clever fish...... dont let it see you through the glass holding the nets!!!! Be stealthy and approach tank with them behind your back. Sometimes it helps to not make eye contact with target fish either. With difficult and already spooked species surprise can be important to a quick capture :)

      I use the fine nets for tangs. It’s pretty rare they get their scalpel caught in nets but I do it just to be sure. Cam

    Great video ! When is required to use oxygen instead of air? How many hours trip? What is the oxygen concentration in the mix?

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We usually use oxygen regardless of how long the fish is in the bag, however anything over an hour and it’s definitely important. We use medical grade oxygen which is a higher concentration than air, but far from pure. Cam

    No double bagging, just in case?

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We do normally double-bag. I often use newspaper between the bags for fish with spines or sharp teeth, but I’ll probably cover how I do that in a future video. Cam

    How have u guys done keeping the chaoti wrasse thriving? We've had issues with them and def not a cheap fish as well! 😆

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They aren’t particularly easy but we are lucky that they’re found close to us. I think the biggest problem is that they don’t travel well, and don’t recover from the long trip overseas. They’re actually a pretty cheap wrasse here. Cam

    Wish I could get a choats Wrasse for 75$ aud here in the states! They're rare and very expensive here, you aussies are spoiled with the selection of animals you can get for the aquarium! Lol great video!

    Hey, another great video! Would you please consider doing a video on GHA management? I'm battling GHA and can never seem to get it under control. Its ruined the hobby for me because I can't get my tank looking the way I had envisioned. I made the difficult decision to take my setup down because I've lost interest in the hobby due to the GHA. Perhaps your expertise could help me to save the tank and my fish!

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GHA sucks. Have you tried continuum Equation M? Cam

    • @NoelG-IRE
      @NoelG-IRE 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would add a tuxedo urchin for bad GHA but that’s like a plaster. It may heal, it may get infected and get worse. You could also try a bristletooth tang as they are a serious clean up crew for algae. The best thing to do when you can’t figure it out yourself Is to do an ICP test. That will point you towards the imbalance, but the biggest thing for algae is normally TDS above 0, then maybe high no3 and po4 coupled with too much light and not enough flow/ nutrient export. Every tank is different so I don’t think a video would be a solution to your problem. You need to tackle it from every angle to get to the bottom of it. The starting point is the icp as it will give you a baseline and target to work with. My money is on the water source tbh. I’m testing this theory at the moment and so far (touch wood) no GHA yet on month 6 of this build. The major difference with the new build is my water source and a blue eye tang coupled with a heap of snails and it’s like night and day compared to my last tank where I was battling dinos after 3 weeks. Ultimately GHA killed my last tank and I’ve spent the last year making sure it doesn’t happen again. There is no magic pill to this game but from my own experience, fix the real problem first and then add something that will help you clean up the mess and keep it under control. The alternative is to just add chemicals but either way the only way to get it out of the tank is physical removal. The issue with that is the algae is binding up the no3 and po4, so when you remove too much too fast, these levels can rise sharp and cause a chain reaction which causes the algae to come back even worse! This is all a learning game and sometimes the same “trick” won’t work on 2 different tanks. TLDR: Get an icp test, fix your water and add a tuxedo urchin and bristletooth tang. Few big snails can also work but if you have lots of frags like me, that could be an issue! Best of luck with it and keep going, you will figure it out!

    What are your techniques to catch a fish in a established reef tank?

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I caught an Angel out of my display tank recently using the method I did at the end of the video with the cleaner wrasse (bringing it to the top with food and a quick single swipe). However every situation is different, and I typically recommend fish traps. Cam
