Dont use pattern parts. MANY of them have larger diameters than the Bosch units. THEY WONT FIT!!! and if you force them in you wont get it out again. Also try to have a long 8mm spanner to refit the securing bolt. Above all make sure you have a part that fits ( less than 1imm diameter, and a bucket full of patiece
My corsa rev-counter stops working once in a while: every other gauge works except it. Then it comes back alive, then it dies, very sporadic. Sometimes it works but shows very low revs like in the highway shows 1000! Can it be because of crank sensor?
I'm fairly certain the rev counter is provided it's data from the crank sensor. There is a high probability the sensor is at fault but it could also be a wiring issue.
First of all, you had to spray the sensor with some wd40, and leave it for about 10 minutes. Then, you go under the car (You already know were the sensor is....you can use an 8 mm ring wrench to turn the screw loose. It`s easier to get the sensor out. (I did this the same way) Then you unbuckle the connector, and use a Bosch crank sensor...spray a little bit on the new one, and put it in. For me it was one of the most easiest sensor replacements.
@@Papa77sGarage I hope it wasn`t sarcastic what you wrote, but it`s true. It starts great, but now my odometer is doing weird things like, if i drive 50 km/ph it starting to go to 180...200..80...90. If i stop the car and contact of, and start again and drive, the odometer does his work. Could that be also a sensor problem? I drive a Opel/Vauxhall Tigra 1.4 easytronic twintop 2007, and changed also the fluids for the clutch actuator and gearbox. It`s strange, but they say it`s a common problem with these cars. Upate: It was a sensor, the left front wheel abs sensor wasn`t good anymore, so i decided to change it for a new one, and the speedometer (odometer) is working fine again.
Just had this nightmare on a Corsa C but the plastic connector was so brittle it just broke off. Ended up getting some mole grips on what was left and wiggling it while levering the grips out with a screwdriver. Came out really easy once I got the technique right
I have two codes come up on 2016 Corsa p0016 and p0017 and car makes a rattling noise when started would that mean the sensor needs replacing thanks any info would be appreciated
I'm fairly certain both of those fault codes are related to a correlation fault between crankshaft and camshaft sensors. With the rattling on start up I'd be 90% certain the timing chain has too much slack in it and this is causing the fault codes.
Thanks. I know , what should have been 10 minutes maximum was probably 5 times that. That the way things go some times. I think there may have been plenty of swearing when I wasn't recording 😂
My Speedo kept bouncing around at random speeds getting stuck at 60 80 then 120 for good, I brought a code reader and it gave me a crankshaft sensor fault code managed to replace it today and drove it and this time speedo did not move at all from 0, tomorrow I will reset the fuse and make sure the connections are in good on the sensor and it’s all the way in just incase. If that doesn’t help will it be the cluster that’s at fault? any ideas?
The crank sensor doesn't give vehicle speed information, it's responsible for engine speed (rev counter.) I can't remember if there is a vehicle speed sensor located in the gearbox or whether the ABS module sends the signal. What model year is yours?
@@Papa77sGarage there’s no lights on dashboard, no fault codes. Every gauge apart from speedo is working. I took the fuse out yesterday it went to 120mph, I’ve plugged it back this morning it’s back at 0 but displaying no speed when driving
I would be really impressed if you got it from above. I'm pretty sure the inlet manifold and starter motor will block any access. You could try parking on a tall kerb to give more access underneath so long as you don't mind working in the gutter!
I have an opel corsa d 1.3 2008 and it starts perfectly after 2 min it shuts down and then it wont start again for a while. Do you think it is the crank shaft sensor or there is sth wrong with the ecu. I would really appreciate if you give me your opinion on this case.
I'm pretty sure the ECUs are common for water ingress. They are located under the scuttle panel at the base of the windscreen. It would probably be worth getting the fault codes read as well.

I replaced crankshaft sensor on my Tigra.Error code was also deleted and it didn't help. Error code for crankshaft sensor still comes up and car stals in idle.
Was it a crank signal, circuit or performance fault. Have you checked the continuing of the wiring from the ECU? Is the sensor getting the correct voltage? These are what I would be looking at next.
@@Papa77sGarage I also noticed that my speed sensor doesn't work. I will first try to change speed sensor and check the wiring. When the error code for crankshaft was deleted engine worked fine a couple of kilometers and than crankshaft code showed up ugain. When the engine is cold it doesn't stall in idle only when it's on working temperature. It will also stall when i'm stopping if I don't add rpm. In my street there are road works and after I drove on that road this problem with sensors occured.
You've literally not put it in correctly its not seated fully only the half that is bolted is seated the other half is still hanging outside the block, what a bodge job 😂 don't put these in using the bolt people, fully seat it and then put the bolt in

Probably not. Im pretty sure p0017 is the camshaft and crankshaft positions don't correlate. I'd be looking for a stretched timing chain or even the timing being out slightly. What model year is your Corsa?
@@Papa77sGarage that's what comes up crank and cam correlation bank 1 sensor b, I've unplugged the cam sensors and they bring other code's up, it's a 63 plate with 49k on it
@@r34watson47 first thing I would do is check the timing. It's not that difficult, rocker cover needs to be removed and there is a blanking plug at the front of the engine just below the air con pump. I think it's a torx 55. The timing tools aren't that expensive off eBay and I'm sure there will be plenty of videos on here showing how to check the timing.
@@r34watson47 that's good, I never know whether I'm talking to someone who has a bit of experience or a beginner. Even with just the rocker cover removed you might see something obvious like a slack chain or the guide broken. There are 2 slots in the end of each camshaft which when timed up should be parallel with the top of the cylinder head. A flat bar would go in there but if they don't line up the timing is out. If they do line up you can take No 1 spark plug out and see if the piston is at TDC. It's not as exact as the timing tool but should give you a better indication.
Great video mate. Followed this one. Replaced mine but unfortunately the sensor wasn't the fault. So now i've changed this week. Battery (which was poor) Ignition coil. Spark Plugs Crankshaft sensor Cranks but does not fire. Will test if i'm getting spark to plugs tomorrow. Booked into garage on Monday.
@pataleno What ended up being the issue and did you get it fixed. I've also replaced the battery, coil pack and spark plugs in mine after it cranks but wont fire.
@@brandonwilkinson4750 Yes mate. The Timing Chain slipped , needed a new one. Cost me £450 to get replaced. Sigh. At least the Engine didn't seize. Car running good now. Think it was all down to not changing the oil as frequent as it should be done.
@@johncollins8304 I think the problem was the quality of the sensor. If I remember correctly it was the cheapest one available. I would think a better quality one would fit nicer in the hole.

Could see the o ring compressing giving you trouble putting it in maybe lube o ring before might help👍great realistic video helped me loads.
Realism is what I aim for and lubrication is a good suggestion.

@@zzhughesd they can be, as you've seen. If they are tight in the hole it can take a while.
I was struggling with vice grips so used some pb blaster and got a wide chisel in and it popped right out. Just a tip for anyone struggling

I just had to do this on a Corsa C, one week after changing the driveshaft. It would have been trivial to do with the driveshaft out.
It is a bit of a hindrance.
Took me nearly 3 hrs to do mine on my back. For £50 I rather pay a garage with ramps lol. Any great video

Aftermarket ones are less than £30 but I'm not sure how much a genuine Vauxhall one would be.
