    I'm a professional drummer session studio player for professional studio yes ,noticed soul tone endorsement,are just discounted cymbal prices nothing more that's not an endorsement when you pay

      It absolutely is, though. Most artists on these companies’ rosters, especially newly signed artists, start with a certain ‘artist price’ percentage over cost. That’s normal across the board. But yes, they do also support some of their more visible artists with free cymbals

    Hey Rob, quick question. so say I've made several videos on TH-cam in the past using certain gear, and was recently endorsed by a different company. would the endorse company require you to take down previous material of you using other "brand" gear?
    Thank You.

      +Mark Mullen Nah. Companies understand previous arrangements, man. I guess they might appreciate it if you did but they wouldn't ask you to remove them all. You can still see older videos of Russ Miller playing Yamaha, Thomas Lang playing Sonor, Peter Erskine was with DW for YEARS before his recent switch to Tama so most videos you'll see of him when you look him up will be on DWs. It happens. It only really matters what you play while under contract with your current company.

    VERY wise words!! I'm sure you've worked very hard to earn your endorsements. You obviously believe in those companies as evidenced by your many high quality sound demo videos, which are excellent.
    {I'm a Paiste Blue Label Formula 602 player myself. The crystal-clarity and raindrop-like shimmer of my 22" Ride makes it my all-time #1 Ride cymbal! } Congratulations Rob!!

    You hit some major points Rob. A close friend of mine got a endorsement deal with Tama back in 2003 and at the time his band had been signed to a major label and they told him that depending on your fame/exposure status determined what quality of their instruments you could receive. If you were a new and up and coming talent, you wouldnt get the big nice starclassic kits, but the intermediate Superstar kits. And they did offer huge discounts at the time if the artist wanted a pro-quality kit, but it definitely wasnt free. Only big name stars who usually get their signature gear like joey jordison, chad smith, mike portnoy and Guys that have huge followings and help them sell. Those are the only ones who techincally get the "free" gear lol. Great video Rob!

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always heard that an endorsement deal means that the artist endorses the company, not the other way around. In other words, I wouldn't be endorsed by Sabian, but rather, I endorse Sabian.

      +Trent Davis It actually woks both ways by definition, so you're right as well. I endorse or support these companies because I believe in their products and publicly encourage others to use em, and the companies endorse me by supporting me and career. I guess most people identify the term 'endorsement' as the artist being 'endorsed by' the company.

    This was such a great education about the ins and outs of endorsements! I really dig what you say and how honest you are about the business side! So many of us have to learn the hard way and with great tools like this video, we can learn from those that already are there. Your work as a musician is very inspiring! Keep on bringing the beatdown!

      +Kyle Tupper Hey, thanks for the positivity, man. I sometimes don't or can't post as often as some of the other dudes, but I'll try to keep the vids coming 🙂

    The thing about endorsement is, taht you can´t easily play gear from other brands in public.

    It's just something to work towards! Great words of wisdom, man! It'd be great to be endorsing a company I fully and totally believe in!

    • @RobBeatdownBrown
      @RobBeatdownBrown  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +JP Fontenot It just feels better, man. There's a certain level of pride knowing you get to officially represent the gear you love. When I talk about Yamaha gear at clinics, it's easy to be passionate about it because I've been playing their gear for a very long time and can answer any question about it. Took a short lived hop over to Pearl back when the Reference kit first came out but eventually came back home. But dudes that just chase after a deal for the sake of getting a deal forget that they have to pretend that they like the stuff. I was offered a nice Mapex deal a couple years ago, but I'd be faking the funk talking about those drums and y'all would see right through it. So I held out and just told myself, it's Yamaha or nobody. A few days later, Yamaha called me and branded my ass.

      +Rob “Beatdown” Brown I'm hoping I can work my way up like you did and endorse the companies that I LOVE to play. You're an inspiration, thank you!
