same... the day i discovered them was the day i saw them live, right after magma came out... amazing concert, and they're now one of my favorite bands there was a kid about 10 years old there with his dad in the front row... after the show the drummer(Mario, joes brother) jumped down off the stage, gave the kid his sticks and took a picture with him

I don't watch the Olympics, so I was today years old when I heard about it. I actually didn't know much about Gojira either, but that performance was epic & I'm excited to check them out. They are coming to my hometown in a couple of months

I haven't seen much of the Grammys, but now I've seen this interview, and I've seen the acceptance speech by Petrucci, and man... I must say they give such a good impression of metal musicians! They are so polite and articulate, and are such gentlemen, much more than many others there who just think they're the center of the universe, and just think of themselves. I'm impressed!

Joe Duplantier and the entire band are gentlemen and good people. I love their music and I like it very heavy. Their early albums are fantastic but Fortitude is a beautiful album.
Joe is such a nice and gracious guy. I don't care about the grammy's at all. In fact the core of message and information he was passing on juxtaposed by this "red carpet" event couldn't be more in conflict, and in its own way represents exactly what is destroying the Amazon rain forest.
Saw them live in Seattle 4.16.22 and their music is amazing. I wish the notion of them being stoner metal didn’t make me stray from their music. There’s so much I missed out on prior to seeing them live with Deftones.
Yknow the interviewers had allot of respect and time for joe…it must be refreshing to talk to someone at an event such as that with something more to say than your typical industry made star. He dosent have to tow a line as much as more mainstream forms of entertainment so it makes it interesting when he could make his band infamous in the mainstream by saying something outrageous and ‘rock n roll’ yet instead choosing to treat these women with sincerity and conversations of compassion as opposed to the usual self aggrandising topic of conversation to be found at a red carpet event
I dont like that he (and metal bands in general) has to make excuses for their music/metal for the dumb grammys crowd and interviewers to understand/accept them, eg "our music was extreme but we have mellowed down, metal music is more and more accepted", etc.
Gojira is much more deserving of "Best Metal Performance" than Dream Theater. Been a DT fan for 30 years, but have never considered them Metal. Gojira are monsters!
They did good letting him speak about what he wanted to say. Just because they aren't injecting themselves into the conversation at every opportunity doesn't mean they were bad.
