    Build yourself a better fence instead of killing wolves who have already been decimated once and finally making a comeback, greedy farmers find a new career or better protection for your livestock

    Finally taking steps to restore an ecosystem that ranchers destroyed and now they’re too entitled and privileged to find another job just like everyone else has to do.

      as the west goes dry the ranchers looking for more places to make ranches , and nobody is thinking about the rest of the ecosystem and then the animals are killed or starved so places like wendys can sell burgers to the dumb masses .

    Yellowstone needs the wolves to have balanced ecosystems for both plants and animals. When the wolves disappeared from Yellowstone, the environments became unbalanced. When they returned, the environments became balanced and Yellowstone returned to its rightful beauty and health.

    Yes a wolf may come and eat your animals because they've been doing it for thousands of years... and your Ranch is in their range. They have to eat too...The best defense against wolves are donkeys...not guns

      @@blackout07blue And maybe those ranchers should be restricted from allowing their livestock to graze for free off of public land where wolves and other predators should always be allowed primary ownership of the land. Keep ranchers off public land, if they can't keep their livestock going, reduce the amount of livestock they farm. It's not rocket science. Their livestock also use substantial amounts of scarce water across the country on crops for feed. That is the real reason for scarce water across the US: Too much rights given to a 'crop' that has now turned into a weed. . ..

    I like what the young rancher said. There needs a balance you can’t get rid of ranchers and you can’t get rid of the wolves. Whatever the perfect balance is either it be seasonal harvest to keep numbers in check or different methods of hazing wolves into keeping clear of human activity. It isn’t gonna be easy but let’s hope we can all think and understand everyone’s side including the wolves

    What’s the most frustrating is that ranchers are fully reimbursed by the government for any livestock that is killed by wolves. They didn’t say that in this video. So the ranchers are in their land and really just mad about losing the Elk business.

  • @ebybeehoney

    Why is "we always did this" used as an excuse? The wolves were there longer than the ranchers. Doesn't that give them precedence?

      I really don’t have sympathy for the guy whose family probably evicted the former tenants and has profited from livestock for the better part of 2 centuries, but his son does make a valid point at the end.
      Serious restrictions on what you can and can’t do beyond the boundaries of an ecological area should be heavily considered, there needs to be something like a buffer between these spaces and public land.

    • @JJ-gv8yz
      @JJ-gv8yz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Says the person who knows nothing about the livestock business or about the family in this story.

    • @mk1gti
      @mk1gti ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. They didn't give precedence to those who built carriages and wooden wheels, they learned to move off to other jobs. Ranchers need to do the same. Their livestock not only take up far too much land, private and public, they also consume the majority of dwindling water resources that should be used for other purposes. That also goes for the bottled water industry.

    The government subsidizes some of the most profitable corporations in the world. Maybe they should start helping the little guy instead and subsidize farmers for livestock predation. It’s a win/win for everyone but Wall Street.

    • @mk1gti
      @mk1gti ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe capitalism needs to return to it's roots: No subsidies whatsoever, you survive by your profits, not subsidies. Most corporations would fold practically overnight, which would be a good thing.

    The comment of wolves having a devastating impact by the reporter at the end is flawed. Wolves have had more of a positive impact for ecosystems and stability. The only ones they have a devastating impact on are the ranchers who refuse to coexist with wolves, and making hunting harder for elk hunters.

  • @pn6944

    The young rancher saying they are the endangered ones is a bunch of b.s. If his ranch was not there, the ecosystem would thrive with predators and prey, unlike his claim that if the ranch was gone there would be no wolves, no elk, no etc. This reporter should have questioned why he made this comme t when even a 10 year old would understand it is not true.

    It’s difficult for people who don’t live in Montana and Wyoming to empathize with the residents. I visited the area and spoke with them enough to understand a little. I’ve seen how they live. It isn’t so easy to change careers mid life. There are organizations that pay them for their cattle loss, but I think Nathan Varley always did a lot to communicate with his neighbors. That helps a lot.

    If I had a mom and pop shop that was failing, I would pivot to something else, not complain that "we've had this for generations." Adapt or fail. The wolves have as much, if not more, right to that land as you do. Sorry you can't cut it farming. Do something else. Change careers. People do it every single day. You're just mad that an animal your family help hunt to near extinction is back and trying to rebound. I have no sympathy for you digging your feet in the ground and not looking toward a more sustainable future.

    bringing the wolves back fixed Yellowstone's ecosystem, they returned elk to their proper numbers, but some people keep thinking that the elk number is too low because of wolves but recent scientific study and evidence has discovered that the elk came down because of a problem with grizzly bears instead and not wolves. Also humans should not hunt wild animals for sport it is cruel and wrong and does not work as how they claim it to be.
