I think he moved way beyond being caught up in the drama, the drama that found him. I believe if that crap happened today, he would've remained in the Senate. I too wish he was in our Senate, but he's a guy who can still contribute wherever he is in the world.

I'm 74. All through elementary school there was a good size group that received free breakfast and lunch every day. No one thought it odd. No one made fun or whispered about it parents and local businesses supported it. Children do better when they aren't hungry. Remember, trump and his band of creeps, have wanted to get rid of free lunches, snap benefits, and all programs that raise people up. 8:48

As a person who was a hungry student- No food @ all in our house for 3 days when I was in 9th grade & not much the rest of the time, I think that plan in project 2025 is especially cruel. Don't want abortions but couldn't care less about kids after they're born. What big hypocrites! I could not support any candidate who doesn't care for the elderly, children, the disabled, the ill, the poor, immigrants & refugees, the homeless as the Bible instructs us to do. Rising up out of poverty is a monumentally difficult endeavor. Anyone who does it has my appreciative congratulations. I was defeated in that. People make better citizens and larger tax payers when we rise. It's in the governments own self interest to help us achieve success. Then the government has a bigger income. The only kind of government that works is described in the Constitution of the United States. All other kinds eventually fail & I'll add impoverish the citizenry. James Madison, who largely wrote it examined every form of government & took all the best practices to form ours. Of the People, By the People, for the People! US! We are one Nation, one people, one Family. We need to help each other. Take care of each other. The strong are duty bound to help the weak like families do. One Race people-HUMAN! 😅

Mick Mulvaney acknowledged the Harris-Walz team, made up of a California and Minnesota Democrat, is “very, very liberal progressive ticket.” “I think he's just a little bit more liberal than folks realize,” Mulvaney said
In 2019, GovTrack, a non-partisan organization that tracks bills in Congress, ranked Harris as the "most liberal compared to All Senators." One measure the organization uses is comparing how many bipartisan bills each senator cosponsors to how many bills they co-sponsored in total. Harris had the lowest at 15% in 2019.
At cost of $350 million, approximately 1,300 properties in Minneapolis were damaged by the civil unrest, of which nearly 100 were entirely destroyed.
Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said he asked Walz for troops three days before he gave the green light.
Walz, who served in the Army National Guard for nearly a quarter of a century, clapped back at Frey.
"I don't think the mayor knew what he was asking for," Walz said. "I think the mayor said, 'I request the National Guard, this is great. We're going to have massively-trained troops.' No, you're going to have 19-year-olds who are cooks!"
So not only did Walz misread the riots but delayed the Democrat mayor's request for National Guard for three days, Walz also insulted the National Guard, which he was in and quickly got out of before his unit was deployed to Iraq.

He is a national treasure, but I surely miss his valuable voice in Congress. He bowed out at the tail-end of respectable times; his integrity speaks volumes. The lucky part of that event is that Mr Franken is still making headlines, in Minnesota, on air, able to share his strength, dissernment, intelligent truth, and brilliant humor with us, his fellow Minnesotans.
The federal government lost, but Minnesota won, again. We do have excellent Minnesota citizens, always active in politics, always interested
in truth, justice for all, and genuine human dignity and decency. Bravo for having Mr Franken on your program, so the national stage can see
what they lost, after he nobily resigned from the Senate, for admittedly accounting for his gap in judgment, treating someone unfairly, in a less than deserved position. His past, now, seems like nothing when compared with the present list of performers and job-holders in the very
same congress of which he was a part. Greetings and applause to Franken for continuing to spread his viewpoints, opinions and learned
teachings with all of us (especially me), here at home. I hope he continues to enrich our lives with common sense, humor and distinction.

The reason why Scandinavia has such a great economy and why their populations’ rate happiest in the sociological datum. We lived on the edge of disaster, stressed & afraid every day of our lives. We see homeless people, we shudder & say a prayer. For that could soon be us. 😮 You well to do brethren, we depend on to fight for us, make laws protecting us, to help us educate our children in public schools(It's all we have), to vote with us in mind, to be compassionate towards us, to see just how hard our daily lives are. Remember we don't have air conditioning to escape the heat. Do you understand just how exhausted the heat makes one. We depend on you to really see us & help us by learning how hard & bitter our lives can be. Then vote for people with a heart. The nordic model would never work in the U.S. It's not even about taxing the rich -- the lower and middle classes of America will not agree to substantially higher taxes, like a nationwide 24% federal sales tax (using Finland for example)... which would be in addition to the state taxes they pay... Which is another reason -- you guys are unitary countries with 1 government. The United _States_ has > 50 governments, plus the federal government... people's taxes are split between state and federal in the US, the federal side of things is too small to make sweeping changes across all of society, and you aren't going to get all 50 states to agree to anything.
You guys also are very small, socioeconomically homogenous countries with low productivity/GDP. It's great that what you guys are doing is working for you, but it isn't realistic to think that system would work elsewhere like the behemoth that is the US. It is so different at every level, economically, politically, legally. It is apples and oranges -- it would be a closer comparison to compare a country Norway to Massachusetts (which has a slightly bigger population) than to the US as a whole.
I only say this because the Nordic countries are often touted by the American left as some dream model that America should aspire to but it is so unrealistic for about a hundred reasons, the American left should stick to ideas more grounded in the reality over here.

An american's definition or perception of 'Left' is so far out of step with the rest of the world.
I doubt your country even has a thing that could be regarded as 'far left'
Left means having a society that looks after everyone, treats them with decency and respect, and ensuring people are given opportunities to make their lives better.
Conservative/right wing means keeping power, decisions, resources, greed, punishing people for being poor or uneducated, and just ensuring the donors are rewarded.

Things that Conservative and Center Right in western and Scandinavian Europe support unequivocally: Universal health care either operated or managed by the government in cooperation with frontline providers, free movement of skilled workers (except UK) , marriage equality, access to affordable child care, child tax credits or subsidies, parental leave, right to annual leave, right to paid sick leave. How leftist would this make them in the US context?

    • @kejmat
      @kejmat 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

@@youtubewatcher2 I am not from Europe. In Australia we have universal health care. It's there for all those in need. All you need is your Australian Medicare card and not a credit card to receive first class and immediate health care. We know and expect nothing else. It's just decency and I can't believe one wealthy country allows its governments to not give them the same.
We also have generous work entitlements such as a minimum of 4 weeks annual leave with a 17.5% bonus added to the pay. It''s great for our tourism industry.4 weeks minimum. Many receive much more.
Work ten years and you receive Long Service Leave. Long service leave is a period of time that you can take off work, with pay. You'll be eligible for 13 weeks' paid leave after 10 years continuous service with your current employer. You will then continue to accrue long service leave at the rate of 1.3 weeks' leave for each subsequent year of service after that. In most states it's portable. Just do the time and the recognition is there.
No one works for tips or expects them. No one. People are paid a living wage. It's just the decent thing to do.
Sick leave is a minimum of ten days per year. Minimum, Because it's needed and no one's fault. It also allows experienced and valued staff to return to work when they are able.
Parental leave is available and generous. Each parent can take up to 12 months unpaid parental leave, or up to 24 months if their employer agrees.
Marriage equality was for horrible reasons, due to a conservative government at the time, was overwhelmingly voted for the positive by the public. It shat them right off. And we have it. The sky hasn't fallen in and people just go about their lives. Also it makes the society that more inclusive and accepting. It also costs nothing so the conservatives' donors can't complain.
      It goes on and on.
Our centre right/conservative/far right laughing calls itself the Liberal Party. and it's truly as vile as American Republicans. They're in opposition now but I fight every day to ensure they never return to power in any way.
Voting is compulsory so the turn out is over 90%.
Not everything is perfect. But join a party that means change and get active.
America has the dream team of Harris/Walz to bring their country into the 21st century. Do what you can to help them.
Also thanks so much for your reply.

This is a rather complex issue - it is reasonable that many people misunderstand it. There are three important points (all verifiable) that might not be obvious to a non-military reader.
**This was not (nor could it have been) a planned retirement. Walz accepted an appointment to the Sergeants Major Academy (A 2 year program.) He also accepted a “conditional promotion” to Command Sergeant Major. These events incurred an additional 2-year service requirement (beginning at SMA graduation.) Failing to meet this requirement would result in a retroactive demotion to Master Sergeant (technically he was never promoted.) Walz “retired” 8 months into the academy (almost 3 ½ years before he could “keep” his CSM rank at retirement.) There is zero chance that the National Guard would have approved this intentionally. They would not have wasted a 2 year high level training program on someone with a scheduled retirement in 8 months.
**He did not retire in the traditional sense. He just quit (as his unit prepared to deploy into harm's way.) He just stopped showing up. All of his retirement paperwork was done “in absentia.” His NGB 22 is marked “soldier unavailable for signature.” It took some time for the Minnesota National Guard to figure out what to do with this. There is no precedent for a 24 year CSM to just “quit.” He was eventually demoted and retired (again - without his active participation) as the best possible resolution for a completely unheard of situation.
**Perhaps most importantly - Waltz made a career of claiming to have done what he walked away from. He claims to have led troops in combat as a CSM. This claim was removed from Harris’ campaign web site just a couple of days ago. I just learned yesterday that he had Congressional presentation challenge coins made (with CSM Rank) - that he gave to supporters as a memento.
It is difficult to explain (to non-military people) how uncommon (potentially unique) and how reprehensible this conduct is. CSMs do not walk away from their unit as they prepare for a combat deployment, they do not just “drop” the Sergeants Major Academy, and they certainly do not claim non-existent combat experience. They absolutely do not brag about rank that was retroactively withdrawn under the most embarrassing of all circumstances.

They want humane public policies and work that provides living wages, thus leading to a dignified life. Since the Reagan era....those conditions have been slowly but surely removed from American citizens.

@@lizoconnor2752 the problem is that those issues are caused by the very policies the Biden and Harris campaigns support. The policies haven’t worked on California. Now even salaried employees who went to school are starting to struggle, due to rampant inflation caused by the current policies (which would continue). And raising minimum wage contributes to inflation; when companies have to do that, they often raise their prices. Then other companies do so as well. Pretty soon all the prices are raised and the only thing that changed is the schooled and salaried employees are like “well, great, now I’m struggling too.” This is evidenced by California. You don’t want to raise wages, you want to lower prices. Which means stopping inflation, investigating shady business practices, and removing some of the needless regulations that businesses have to pay to obey.
Cheaper energy and supply chain solutions are also helpful. So is a better trade agreement. And making sure the social programs are going to the truly needy and not people who choose to stay low to get free money from the government.
