Arrow Head made Helldivers 2 on Autodesk's Stingray engine, which was discontinued in 2018. Despite this, they managed to finish the game, and I'm loving these goofy glitches, it reminds me of good old Halo times.

I'm not sure, but I always have this feeling that terrain type and angle, and if you were sprinting or not, affects fall damage. Like falling on sand, shallow waters or slopped terrains. It's probably wishful thinking, though.
They got them James Bond ejection seats now? Spared no expense with a galactic defense budget, I guess. Also, it would be fun if the guard dogs just stayed outside when you get in so you're safe but you can still attack the enemy.
People keep talking about Stingray as if they actually know how it works or have actually worked with it themselves. Too many arm chair devs. By the way Fatshark also use Stingray for Dark Tide AND Vermintide. They seem to use it well. Just because Autodesk has stopped supporting Stingray (which apparently its common for this company to suddenly stop supporting software of theirs), doesn't mean its out of date or obsolete. Many other games, and game engines also as well have their own various amounts of jank or silly things happening. This goes for Unreal 5, RedEngine, Unity, Creation, Frostbite, Snowdrop etc...
Exactly. Blaming the engine for problems playing just sounds like copium from people taking themselves too seriously. Have I cursed design decisions in this game before? Yes, many enemt types annoy the fuck out of me. Have I blamed the engine itself? No, of course not. This isn't Bethesda pushing Creation engine still almost 20 years later
Mission Idea (this is what I think): it would be cool if they would add underground missions for the bugs, like you would have to drill into an underground hive and just eradicate everything in there Rock and Stone.
Another example Same scenario in Space Marine 2 Sometimes the chaos marine in campaign mode hit you, your blue tin can will launch into the sky like a rocket. And of course skip some checkpoints and cause the deadlock of proceeding the campaign.
The Worm bug isn’t specific to the FRV, it seems their implementation of the prone after ragdoll sometimes has that effect. Also I’ve seen the guard dog circling around the backpack before, it’s likely cause it gets just the right path so it never gets close to the pack to be collected x3
i wonder if you can get a punctured fuel tank that makes it lose fuel faster, or if that's something planned for later on/was considered and then removed... lots of possibilities. can't wait for more vehicles.
This video has made me realize how cool it would be if we could use the jump pack mid-ragdoll. However, comming from someone who knows bearly anything about game disign i'm going to take a wild guess and say that coding something like that would be unfathomably hard, so I'd rather have a working DSS than that
I believe the Darktide and Vermintide games are also based on this engine. I think the jank in those games tends to come more from Fatshark (the developer) releasing the games too early, though.
We should be able to use jumpacks while ragdolled! I would love to see us frantically swerving in the air like the jet troopers do when electrocuted in Star Wars: Force Unleashed.

most of physics used in games are made in 2000's by havok and despite their claims of making updates they actually stopped updating in 2013 and this is the why games use pre rendered graphics or animated physics or fake physics to let you believe the game has an advanced physics engine but it does not also new games make you wait for 40000 years to render the shaders and suck up everything you got on your pc so you can have close to real graphics but not physics i think someone need to buy havok and its source code and start updating it otherwise games won't advance and demand a nasa computer

it also runs pretty well relative to its graphical quality.
So many modern games run worse with much worse graphics

of course you survive that fall, but when you fall from a 2 meter height it takes half of your hp bar
