Totally understand. Family must always come first. As a 52 year old rider who is (let's be honest, completely obsessed with MTB), your channel has been an incredible source of inspiration and knowledge. Your video from a few years back helped me hit the rock roll feature at Mill Creek (A-line only). I followed your instruction and hit it competently. Please know as you dial back that your videos have been watched and very much appreciated.
That last track... Oh my, so much work has been done on that! It's been a pleasure riding with you when I have my Sydney trips! Look forward to more and the future of the channel at it's slower pace.
Huge fan of the channel Craig, and always loved the regular posts, but long format, quality vids every month sounds great! Looking forward to the new direction for the channel and wish you all the best mate 👊
Great showcase of local (unnamed, unfound) gems as usual. Again, you've made all these steep gnarly natural trails look easy, they so aren't! You've always kept it positive and I thank you for the support of Mal Mtb. Im not sure POV is dead, but it needs a layer of creativity on top which does take time, and with a young family there's never enough time. Great direction you're taking the channel. Power to you Craig 🤟
Interesting video. Your point about being a father and how you spend your time, is really great. I'm close to 50 and my kids are teenagers. Spend quality time with them while you can! Graciously accept that riding and having fun is still awesome but goals change and you won't ever be that lightning-fast invincible 28 year old again. Priorities change and we don't bounce when we hit the ground like we used to.
Been a fan since your days with riding the norco bikes 🤘 Really love your content especially the muddy Awaba race and Ourimbah super flow on the optic! Love how you’ll take channel forward with supporting talents. Good luck!!
Great videos great content , love that you don’t have crap music playing over the top of your videos. I like the sound of your new direction of videos too. Remember to always be kind to yourself and family. See you in 2025 mate.
Thanks bud, glad you prefer the heavy breathing to royalty free music. I really wish they made it easier to use good tunes that everyone knows on here. More Joey cam next year I reckon 🙌 🙌 🙌
Any video you make I always make it a priority to watch! Even before dashcams Australia! Lol If the videos are only monthly that's totally fine mate, your content is quality. Remember it's the quality over quantity! I've been back and re-watched your videos all the time!
Cracking trail there at the end - the amount rock work is insane!! Glad to see you are not hanging up the camera my friend as I can relate to your riding, rather than people like Remy who are amazing but I am never getting to that level ever.... so your vids I will always watch. I feel you on the young family and time, my kids priorities make it nearly impossible for me these days to ride let alone contemplate even making vids, so to now require ones that are super long.... hard pass. I really hope next year adjusts to allow a bit more time for me to get back out on the bike and I would love to ride with you more (although may need a moto just to keep up 🤪) so fingers crossed things pan out for us both!
@@TheDangals I feel ya mate, hopefully you get out more next year, you were on such a good run before you got injured! Always a pleasure riding together! Forget the moto, ebikes are the future!
You've got some great terrain & woods that look fantastic. I was hoping it was somewhere in the US, but I'm guessing NZ. Also cool to hear that you work on the trails.
Hey Craig been watching you for years, I’m actually Emma’s husband but didn’t have a Gmail so go under pseudonym haha, love your local content as a wonny person and watched your first hits at S flute a million times. Definitely a favorite. Glad you’re continuing with it all and appreciate everything you do.good luck mate
Love your vids! Understand you cutting back for valid reasons but I disagree with one thing you said. I would totally come back to watch the trails you re-ride. They change often enough, have a look at bunker run at the moment. Plus your content strikes the sweet spot for me. I would watch or rewatch your vids over a heap of other TH-camrs. I think I’ve seen all of your vids over the past few years at least. Regardless, keep up the great work in whatever capacity it may be. Enjoy mate.
hey Im an 14 year old up and coming rider with multiple businesses that i have started to fund my racing dream. i would be over the moon to show you around my setup and everything else involved.
Hey Mcphee, been watching your channel now for quite a while and love your vids. Its very sad to see all these awesome youtubers leave the Mtb scene such as BCpov, vancan, mahalo my dude etc... but glad to see your still gonna be making vids. i also have a question about the RS vivid air vs the vivid coil? is there a significant reduction in playfulness or liveliness between the two. I would be putting it on quite a progressive frame so bottom out wouldn't be an issue. Which one did you prefer? Thanks Mchphee!
Thanks man, appreciate the nice words. I've never tried a vivid coil but the vivid air has a very planted feel and wouldn't be my first choice if I wanted a poppy supported bike. I prefer the vivid air over the SD coil as it feels more controlled to me. If I wanted poppy/playful I'd go a SD air with the standard air can. I'm playing around with that and the linear XL air can on the ebike and the difference is huge. Video to come on that!
@@MTBMcPhee Thanks for the feedback! The bike it would be going on in the future when (or if) i get one haha is the Atherton S.170 with DW4 linkage making it very responsive to rider input, its specced with a 180 fork/170 shock and its quite progresive and is shipped with a coil so im afraid the SD air wont cut it as its not beefy enough. Would you pick coil (SD coil or Vivid coil) or air (vivid air) on a bike like this? i don't want the bike to feel sluggish and dead though. Cant wait for the different air cans video as i might upgrade the shock on my stumpy evo rn from a Float X performance to a SD ultimate! Thx Mcphee!
@ I think either would be great but I’m an air convert after having such a great experience with the vivid air. It pedals better than the SD coil and you get all the adjustment of an air shock. Sick bike choice by the way!
Thank you 🙏 It's also for me that I need to be motivated to film, so I need a new angle or story to tell. You'll definitely see these trails again in the future but in a new format 🙂
BCPov is another one that’s gone, though Eric has started a new channel as he’s travelling around the world on a motorbike. It’s an interesting one. I think the other issue is the cycling industry as a whole has tanked post covid, people just aren’t all that interested in mtb let alone consuming mtb content anymore either. I’ve been a huge consumer of mtb TH-cam content but I’ve scaled right back, I still watch Dale Stone without fail but these days I’d rather chill to some Japanese or Korean manufacturing videos 😂
@@lemonadejars yeah, I find there’s less content than there used to be, so I’m on here less, so my motivation to make videos also suffers. That’s a good observation about the state of the industry, I’m sure that’s a factor vs. the past few years when people were stuck at home. Maybe I should give these manufacturing videos a look 😂
@@MTBMcPheeyeah, noticeable how Dave, Nick/Vancan, boostmaster etc have all been pretty quite of late. As a content creator does it not get rather exhausting having to crank out videos frequently to stay on top of the algorithm? If you didn’t get the perfect shots or ride footage did you even enjoy your ride? Process X is a good start youtube.com/@processx?si=2JWTzL7XtqY7X1P1 and helps me fall asleep 😅
>people wont come back and watch the same trails Other channels redo "how to do XYZ" and other niche content leaders are replaced by those doing exactly the same thing. I am unsure if having new edits of the same trails is great but I am unsure if it should be completely discounted. Particularly if you do longer format.
I meant to say it's also less fun for me editing the same trails as well. If there's something new to show or something new to talk about then I'll be happy to share it 🙂
