    I can't thank you enough. It ain't bad enough that the cam phasers rattle like crazy if the truck sits overnight. Now I am getting the P0430 code. You really helped take a load off my mind. It ain't even my truck. I told my brother not to buy it. Only has like 130K miles on it. I told him to buy a Toyota but he wouldn't listen.

    I just paid $2000+ to have bank 1 replaced, I was told code PO420. A day later the engine light comes back on. so I bought a code reader and now it’s PO430. All dealership mechanics are crooks. I wish I had seen this video before I put truck in the shop. I’ll be doing this one myself. 😡😡😡😡😡

      Sometimes it's not even the converter that's bad. That's what is happening to me I got the p0430 code and my cat is working fine and I replaced the o2 censors. It could be something else that is triggering the p0430 code so if u buy a new one and u don't fix the smaller issues first, the code going to come back even though u replaced it. The first thing u should do is check for other problems then if it's nothing else then your cat is bad but make sure first before replacing it. That's what I'm doing right now

      @@ekey7675 someone mentioned fuel injectors possibly causing it.. is that a possibility? Also mine was misfiring I could tell, do you think that affects it?

    Thanks for the great video. I had the PO430 code come up a while ago and since the truck 2011 f150 (5.0) ran fine I thought it was a exhaust leak. The previous owner had installed dual magnaflows and I thought he didn’t get everything tight. I’ve had my trailer hooked up for a couple days with nothing on it. (Trailer Approx 1250lbs). Truck was still running fine. I pulled out on the main road and it started running like crap. I drove for about 5 min and shut it off. Came back and it was very hard to start, but finally did. Drove and dropped off the trailer and got home. Checked with my OBDII and the 430 code is still there; but now cylinder 5.6,7 has misfire. With that being the same side as the 430 code I’m thinking the O2 sensor or Cat is bad since the 430 code had been there way before the misfire codes. Gonna get the thermometer today and go from there. Hoping for the best. Thanks for giving me some direction! Probably replace plugs and the 8 coil packs as well; truck has about 135,000 mi and I don’t know if the coils have ever been replaced. They are still fomoco brand.

      I think it’s 02 sensor since you said it started running like crap, I believe the o2 sensor can actually dictate how much oxygen to release but I’m not sure. If it’s shaking every 3 strokes then it could be a spark plug too

    From what I understand a person should use anti seize in the O2 sensor threads. On my 150 Yamaha I suspended the O2 sensor in chemtool overnight just up to the threads. It cleaned up real nice and afterwards it purred like a kitten at low RPM.

    How does it get hotter after the cat?

    • @volvo09
      @volvo09 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It ignites small amounts of unburned fuel and hydrocarbons inside of it. So it's completing combustion that wasn't done inside the engine.
      If you ever see a car with a spark related misfire (a cylinder not burning any of it's fuel) the cat will literally glow cherry red because it's overworked, and that'll also kill it in a heartbeat.

    Is the P0430 the driver side bank on all Ford F150? I have a 2005 F150. Isn't it true that different makes and models can have the P0430 code on different sides, so the P0430 code isn't always on the drivers side. It depends on what vehicle you have?

    • @fredwilhite423
      @fredwilhite423 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Did you find out your answer? I have a 2011f-150 and have the 430 code (drivers side ?). Had it before thinking it was just an exhaust leak. Now I have cylinder 5,6,7 misfire. They are also on drivers side; so I’m thinking the 5.0 motor is drivers side as well.

    • @nicholaswilder9653
      @nicholaswilder9653 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I tried to do some search and I think it depends on where your cylinder 1 is located and how it is directed to the exhaust system. my 2011 f150 is the same on the video and I am getting p0420, which is the passenger side cat. The exhaust manifold leaving cylinder 1 will give P0420 while the other side of the engine with cylinder 2 will give P0430.

Those are both in Fahrenheit. Autozone has one that reads up ro 716 degrees and is only $45. You may look around and find a cheaper one.
