      100% Actually, I said this to him... you're human, no human can resist twisting that throttle to experience that pull... it is a problem. I guess a lot of these bikes are sold when the points rack up on the licences or after a few NDEs.

      I ride a 2002 and geeza never really give it a test ride on that red one - you need to open her up a bit - at 4 to 5k rpm they roar and then at 7 to 8k rpm they go ballistic.

  • @CRFLAus

    I don't understand making quick judgements riding around the city and then going halfway to redline and coming to any conclusion. Saying this bikes riding position maybe worse than an R1 is nuts bro. Your take on this bike is opposite of 90% of other reviewers. Anyways I agree to disagree, and take it easy mate.

    The blackbird might not be a good car swap. Way overkill. A 1100cc sport bike like that will go through tires like crazy. And it doesn't get great mpg for Portugal. In the U.S. you can buy blackbirds for 2500-4000 all day long. but it doesn't have a shaft drive. I still can't get the 125cc to 1100cc jump. good thing the blackbird is very smooth and docile if you want it to be.

    There's something fishy about that bike, although I'm not arguing that mechanically she's not sound. A Honda 1100cc IL4 engine will do easily over 300-400k km with minimal maintenance. The issues are: 1 - being a 1997 bike, its colour should be Candy mythos magenta R-228C which is darker and metallic; that's definitely not that colour; 2 - it's frame should be grey not black

    I've got the 2002 fi model with a power commander and a tune. Even more smooth and at 7000 rpm it's a missile. but also i went on holidays to Luxemburg last year riding hairpin turns and 90 km roads as well as highways. Smooth as butter from 3000 rpm all the way to the redline. i've got a 3 piece pannier set from givi so plenty of space for all the holiday gear and when you're there you can leave the top box on for day touring so you can store your helmet and gloves when you walk aroun a city somewhere. brilliant! I've got a kawasaki h2 sx se as well, but the Honda is still the smoothest. I'm hanging on to the Honda for sure!

    WHen you take it above 260 is when its power starts to make you understand how serious that machine still is today, and lets be honest that wasn't a proper test lol. Btw to compare a 750 with 92 hp machine with a 1100 167 hp saying it's not much faster tells me that you are not quite a test rider lol. 😉

    • @theportugeeza

      I get what you're saying, but I know what my friend wants to use it for... also, there were two versions of engine for my bike and mine has 106HP... just sayin'... 😅Not interested in an uncomfortable bike that only goes fast in a straight line and only shows it's power after you've lost you licence... it's a toy. DOn't get me wrong, I like it... but it's a one trick pony.

    • @Insightts
      @Insightts 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@theportugeeza well with just 106 hp it's something else for sure, I can't even understand why to do such thing to that bike 😄. My blue one is a 2000 injected one yet with analog gauges is a beast even for today standards and was my late old man's bike who passed away last year and it always reminds me of him which makes it a bittersweet feeling but things are what they are. Nevertheless it had only 2500 km and it has not much to do with then impression you had from that one, surely is not made for racing, for that you have the one thousands which nowadays have even more horsepower than the xx but they have not the same feeling when you ride them above certain speeds and they are not as grounded. For an everyday city use not even you gsx f is the right bike, but I know what you mean and surely one can't ride it for hours on end, it's an hyperbike not a sportouring as some may claim, in order to surpass it other manufactures had to come up with newer engines with bigger displacements, turbochargers like the H2 or in the case of the one thousands increase to crazy horsepower and unreasonble rev counts which make those bike a maintenance nightmare. Cheers to you and if you ever come by Vendas Novas say something and we may have a couple of beers together and chill a bit.😉

    The famous heavy, thirsty and wobly boat, Do not buy it, they tried to make it good at a lot of things and they ended up with a bike that its really not good at anything, its not a real sports bike, its not a real tourer, suspensions are crap, driving position its crap, and those 97 ones are still carburaters, wich, as amazing as it may seams, are still much better then the latter fuel injection ones. Take it outside Marinha Grande and into a real road and you´ll strait away realize what am I talkig about. P.S.- You brocke our agreement, I subscrived your Channel and you didn´t call me for a few beers (which I said were on me) when you would come down near my place, specially when riding and talking about motorbikes 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    • @mariomarques4247
      @mariomarques4247 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cloudbasenirvana Yes I did, I had two friends who bought brand new XX's at the time, one was a 96 or 97, still on carburetors, and the other one was the fuel injection upgraded model a few years newer, and the only way they could beat the 600's was on a straight line, but against the R1's, like mine, they had no chance, even on a straight line.
      They were too heavy and couldn't handle on slow curvy roads and not on fast curves either, on fast ones they would dangerously wobble in a way that more often then not, the central stand would rub the tarmac. While on the R1 I could go flat out with knee down and it would feel like it was curving on rails.
      It was better as a tourer, but still not ideal, the seating position was to agressive for that with the foot holders too high and the seat too low, which is far from ideal on long trips, and if they installed luggage boxes in the back, it would turn the bad handling and stability into far worse even on straight lines.

    Thanks for testing it on my behalf, dude. I've turned it down. It's nice enough, but as I said to the guy before I saw it, it's not the exact bike I want; a bit too big for my first proper bike, too heavy, too fast, and not exactly the most suitable for the riding I want to do. And I think my car is in considerably better condition and worth more. So, er...What happened to the speedo then? Lol.
