Also wanted to add here and call out here that part of Nymphia’s reference for “yellow” was a reclaiming of the use of yellow as a derogatory term used for East Asian folks. So there is a lot of layers to how that is a political statement, even if the lyrics overall weren’t her best.
I keep hearing the thing about Nymphia dropping words in the rusical, but the only instance I saw (and I've watched it a couple times) was when she messed up the word "narrative", and even then she did well with the facial acting and the choreo for that part, so I thought she was pretty good.
Overall, the season was pretty fair. Not rigged as much as other seasons. I do 100% think Nymphia and Sapphira should’ve both been crowned and I’m confident the majority of people would agree as well. A shame really.
Morphine was the obvious winner in the lipsync against Megami. Saying that the win should go to Megami because episode was devoted her redemption contradict you not giving Nymphia the win in the advertising challenge... Besides placing 2nd is still a redemption, it worked for Silky.

Morphine barely won the first 2 lipsyncs, and she definitely didn't win the one against Megami. And I don't even like Megami.
@@arctikstorm well morphine was up against the 3rd/4th/5th best lip syncers in the cast, and she already beat the 2nd best, so you gotta give her props for that. She truly knows how to lip sync and I think it was deserved.
I wouldn't say one note, but they are very similar, and I think that hurts her compared to other finalists since she lip synced 4 times compared to Nymphia (1) and Plane (2)

I just feel like more should matter than the final lip sync. It should be a massive factor, but at bare minimum the finale performances should count IMO
@@RuPaulsDragRaceRejudged That may be true, but Sapphira’s finale performance was t that good either. Like she’s not really a good performer with choreo. Her one weakness. The best part of her performance wasn’t the opening with the opera, and some of the moves her dancers were doing. Like it wasn’t awful or anything like that I’m just over people overhyping her. Like this outcome 100% made sense based on her actual performance ability. Two of her lipsyncs this season she won because the other Queen was either horrible, or in the case of Morphine, had no wins.
Q staying over Amanda is no controversy. If you watched the Roscoes episode, all of the girls on the S16 Cast said, that Q won the lip sync by a mile. I actually believe they edited out Q's best parts, to make Amanda leaving on a high note, with everyone thinking she won. I think Q really did great in this Lip Sync.
I've never been so torn when casting my fan vote. In fact, I think I went and voted for all three, canceling out my own vote! Definitely agree with your alternative ending here. What a terrific and joyful season!
Great video. Even if there are things I disagree with, I love seeing someone else’s perspective. One thing, I think Symone was the first queen to have the first 2 challenge wins. She won her girl group and the acting challenge.
Mind you, sapphira won the improv challenge because her group actually completed the prompt, in the same way that Q won the design challenge because she was the only one who wore neo-goth.
for the smackdown, i think it would be more fair if they had whoever skipped the 2nd round pick their opponent because it seems a little ridiculous if Plasma or Mhi'ya lipsynced once and then were immediately put in the final lip-sync. they probably would both pick Megami and we would get the same result.
I agree that the final lip sync was a lot closer than the majority make it out to be. I also agree that both queens deserved the crown. Had the grand prize been less I think this may well have happened
In your win tally at 18:20, Nymphia should have had 3 wins, not 2. Talent, Ball, Girl Group. Also question: How is Nymphia’s score lower than Plane when in this scenario, she has 4 wins 0 bottoms but Plane has 3 wins 1 bottom? Hell, she should have a higher score than Sapphira since she has 1 bottom.

Nymphia should've won the make over. If it was make over by itself, Q should've won. And if it was just the dance, plane should've won. But combined, Nymphia did the best when considering both aspects of the challenge.

My only disagreement is that morphine should still win the lalaparuza. I disagree with the as7 comparison because morphine deserved it like raja and won the lip sync like Yvie.

THIS FEELS CORRECT! I'll fully admit to being a Sapphira stan before Episode 1 even aired, but I do think that what I perceived as the producers pushing Nymphia through a couple of rougher weeks was very much tempered by how well she did in her finale lipsync and runway. I 1000% am glad to see someone else agree with me that Plane should've been in the top for the Rusical (Q's comedic timing definitely improved by the time we got to the Improv challenge but her earlier attempts didn't resonate with me), that Sapphira should have won the Advertising challenge, and that Dawn should have been in the bottom/eliminated in Snatch Game; in Untucked the girls all speak up about how they were surprised she was just safe, and in an episode that also had Nymphia's Jane Goodall, that speaks volumes to me. I'm deeply curious about the world where Nymphia's runway look (or in this case, immunity potion) doesn't keep her from the bottom for Snatch Game and/or the Anthem challenge, because there's the possibility her LSFTC wouldn't go over quite as well if we'd seen her lipsync style ahead of time in the way we saw Sapphira's multiple times before. I also would definitely argue for Nymphia winning the Goth challenge even with the lighting washing out the details of her dress, though, just because Q's styling really worked against the impact of her look. Imagine if she ditched that fishnet top and let the neckline sit low, and if she picked a tall, Sasha-Velour-at-S9-Reunion-style mohawk to go with it--the proportions would have SUNG, and design challenges have arguably even more to do with styling than construction. But yes, nothing but love for my TWO winners of Season 16!
the day lots of you realize that the goth challenge win could’ve been given to Dawn or Nymphia, but absolutely not Q, is the day we’ll know peace ❤ Q’s look was giving more of punk than goth. And the prompt RuPaul gave them was Elvira & Morticia Addams which Dawn & Nymphia clearly hit point blank.
Did I really change that much from the original season? Dawn and Xunami swap placements, but apart from that and a couple wins, it’s not insanely different

Also Plasma was winning the lip sync against xunami and miyah until that “reveal”. Lastly having plane over Nymphia in the political challenge but I accept that’s just my opinion and Ru/production. The thing I doubt we will ever get a double crowning again just bc of how much money they would need to give out. Cause ig someone said who counted how much money was given out during the season was around 450-500k. Had it been a double crowning another 200k would’ve had to been sent out as well which would’ve meant 650-700k would’ve been sent out and I just don’t think that would happen. It was different for Monet and Trinity since the prize at that time was 100k. Who knows maybe it could happen again but financially I don’t see it happening.

I agree that Q staying over Amanda was fair (Amanda won but the lip sync was close enough for Q to stay), Sapphira was amazing in the final lip sync, and a double crowning was deserved. There were some SCORCHING takes in this video, but I'm not actually mad about it. I don't think the season would have been half as interesting without the top 4 that we got. I also totally agree that a Sapphira and Nymphia double win felt correct.
If I’m judging drag race, then I can change the lip sync song for each episode. I would get a park and bark for the goth episode to save Plasma. And I’m not sure a double win would work but Sapphira and Nymphia were very close it’s true.

While Plasma’s sewn look for the ball wasn’t great, it was way better than Plane Jane’s. The low placement realistically should have been between Mhi’ya, Amanda, or Plane Jane. I personally disliked Plane Jane’s third look the most (like what was it?) and even though Mhi’ya and Amanda had misses, their third looks made sense. So, I’d have given Plane the low on the ball. Nymphia using her potion on Snatch Game being how Dawn goes home is… a stretch. Yes, Dawn was bad, and she would have been the low placement, but she wasn’t bottom two worthy over Morphine or Xunami.
If Dawn isnt there for the goth design challenge then Plasma wouldnt have changed her idea midway through.

I just feel like more should matter than the final lip sync. It should be a massive factor, but at bare minimum the finale performances should count IMO
@@RuPaulsDragRaceRejudged That may be true, but Sapphira’s finale performance was t that good either. Like she’s not really a good performer with choreo. Her one weakness. The best part of her performance wasn’t the opening with the opera, and some of the moves her dancers were doing. Like it wasn’t awful or anything like that I’m just over people overhyping her. Like this outcome 100% made sense based on her actual performance ability. Two of her lipsyncs this season she won because the other Queen was either horrible, or in the case of Morphine, had no wins.

Q staying over Amanda is no controversy. If you watched the Roscoes episode, all of the girls on the S16 Cast said, that Q won the lip sync by a mile. I actually believe they edited out Q's best parts, to make Amanda leaving on a high note, with everyone thinking she won. I think Q really did great in this Lip Sync.
I've never been so torn when casting my fan vote. In fact, I think I went and voted for all three, canceling out my own vote! Definitely agree with your alternative ending here. What a terrific and joyful season!

Mind you, sapphira won the improv challenge because her group actually completed the prompt, in the same way that Q won the design challenge because she was the only one who wore neo-goth.
for the smackdown, i think it would be more fair if they had whoever skipped the 2nd round pick their opponent because it seems a little ridiculous if Plasma or Mhi'ya lipsynced once and then were immediately put in the final lip-sync. they probably would both pick Megami and we would get the same result.

I agree that the final lip sync was a lot closer than the majority make it out to be. I also agree that both queens deserved the crown. Had the grand prize been less I think this may well have happened

Nymphia should've won the make over. If it was make over by itself, Q should've won. And if it was just the dance, plane should've won. But combined, Nymphia did the best when considering both aspects of the challenge.

THIS FEELS CORRECT! I'll fully admit to being a Sapphira stan before Episode 1 even aired, but I do think that what I perceived as the producers pushing Nymphia through a couple of rougher weeks was very much tempered by how well she did in her finale lipsync and runway. I 1000% am glad to see someone else agree with me that Plane should've been in the top for the Rusical (Q's comedic timing definitely improved by the time we got to the Improv challenge but her earlier attempts didn't resonate with me), that Sapphira should have won the Advertising challenge, and that Dawn should have been in the bottom/eliminated in Snatch Game; in Untucked the girls all speak up about how they were surprised she was just safe, and in an episode that also had Nymphia's Jane Goodall, that speaks volumes to me. I'm deeply curious about the world where Nymphia's runway look (or in this case, immunity potion) doesn't keep her from the bottom for Snatch Game and/or the Anthem challenge, because there's the possibility her LSFTC wouldn't go over quite as well if we'd seen her lipsync style ahead of time in the way we saw Sapphira's multiple times before. I also would definitely argue for Nymphia winning the Goth challenge even with the lighting washing out the details of her dress, though, just because Q's styling really worked against the impact of her look. Imagine if she ditched that fishnet top and let the neckline sit low, and if she picked a tall, Sasha-Velour-at-S9-Reunion-style mohawk to go with it--the proportions would have SUNG, and design challenges have arguably even more to do with styling than construction. But yes, nothing but love for my TWO winners of Season 16!

Secondly, Megami beating Morphine for it being “her” episode when Morphine cleared in most people’s eyes.
Thirdly Dawn being bottom two in Snatch Game just because she was given a “safe” edit.
Also Plasma was winning the lip sync against xunami and miyah until that “reveal”.
Lastly having plane over Nymphia in the political challenge but I accept that’s just my opinion and Ru/production.

The thing I doubt we will ever get a double crowning again just bc of how much money they would need to give out. Cause ig someone said who counted how much money was given out during the season was around 450-500k. Had it been a double crowning another 200k would’ve had to been sent out as well which would’ve meant 650-700k would’ve been sent out and I just don’t think that would happen. It was different for Monet and Trinity since the prize at that time was 100k. Who knows maybe it could happen again but financially I don’t see it happening.

I agree that Q staying over Amanda was fair (Amanda won but the lip sync was close enough for Q to stay), Sapphira was amazing in the final lip sync, and a double crowning was deserved. Not shocked at people disagreeing in the comments but idk, I think this was judged really well

I'm seeing some plane Jane favoritism.
While Plasma’s sewn look for the ball wasn’t great, it was way better than Plane Jane’s. The low placement realistically should have been between Mhi’ya, Amanda, or Plane Jane. I personally disliked Plane Jane’s third look the most (like what was it?) and even though Mhi’ya and Amanda had misses, their third looks made sense. So, I’d have given Plane the low on the ball.
Nymphia using her potion on Snatch Game being how Dawn goes home is… a stretch. Yes, Dawn was bad, and she would have been the low placement, but she wasn’t bottom two worthy over Morphine or Xunami.
