- For this week's Solo Saturday (better late than never), we take on the dragon in One Deck Dungeon! This game has quickly become a favorite of mine for solo play!

I ordered the game today so I am no pro. I don't think you played badly I think the game is meant to be hard. But the one thing I saw that seems important is flexibility. Working as hard as possible to get dice of each type so you don't have to constantly trade for black is probably very helpful. But having said that this game remindes me of rogue like games on PC where winning is quite hard even if you play well sometimes things you need just don't come your way, but it makes the wins all the sweeter. Hope you do another, and if you do I am rooting for you, you got a new sub today from me because harldy anyone shows when they loose. Much respect.
Hey thanks so much! If I didn't post videos of me losing, there wouldn't be a lot of videos to watch. :D I do think you hit the nail on the head about flexibility in the game, if you aren't well balanced, you will struggle. Have you had a chance to play the game yet, assuming that you've received the game by now. Interested to see how it has gone. I do think I'm going to try the campaign mode as I hear it's a bit more forgiving - maybe I'll do a series for a campaign.
@@GeekCityUSA I did get the game and I enjoy it. The campain mode is definitely easier as you get to set the difficulty yourself and gain perks. If you do a series make sure to balance your dificulty and dungeon. I did my first run as Warrior in the level 1 dungeon on easy (where you start of level 2) and it was way too easy so I didn't count the run. I will definitely play more in the future but in the same order I bought the Reckoners (another dice heavy game) and am quite hooked on it.
13:30 I think you forgot the black “encounter bonus” die you get for being level two.
6:00 If you used the two pink 2s on the large box, you could have converted the pink three and blue 4 to a black 3 in order to cover one of the yellow boxes.
Wow, great feedback, you are absolutely correct. I'm going to say that this was the moment our plans had failed and this is why I was unable to beat the dragon. :D
@@GeekCityUSA in that case, you'll like this one too... At 14:40, you could convert your two 1s into a black 1, and then use that along with your remaining two pink ones to satisfy the three pink required for your skill to gain a black 6.

I got this on Kickstarter but haven't played it yet. I tried reading the rules, but was confusing to me (may of been tired). Watching this replay has given me a good understanding of the game, and makes me want to play it now.
The rules weren't written well, a couple grammar issues, and it left me questions too.
This game has one of the worst rulebooks I've ever seen. There's a revised version in pdf form on the website that's slightly better.
nice playthrough of my favourite game! note thought that there are many rules errors in this video due to the player rushing things, forgetting things and not reading the cards correctly. plus a fair few tactical decisions that were questionable, but that is not as important.

Tough game and it took me a long time to beat all the end of level monsters....your strength etc goes up and you sheet looks OK to face tougher monsters.
Bought the expansion ( poison etc ) when it it came out but haven't played it yet.
Like your style and subscribed.

Can you convert stored skill cards for experience 42:31 when you want to level up? Or are the skills locked as skills when you choose the card as skill and not experience?

Ooh, CoB the card game. I LOVE the board game version (finally got it recently). I'll have to look into getting the card game - Runebound too, I've wanted that for a while - this seems like a viable excuse. :)

If you get it, make sure you pick up the unbreakable bonds expansion, it's the one that makes the game soloable
Oof, good try. The dice math in the game looks rough. I get rogues are supposed to rely on luck and running away. But by the time you get to the dragon, you need to have racked up a lot of atk dice, and need po perfect 6's.
8:10 When this happens I immediately take the level up. Is there an official rule regarding this?
The rules state "after an encounter", which this *maybe* could have been since the Wraith's power said "BEFORE" the encounter. Hmm... not sure which is proper. It would have been nice to have that extra black die, that'w for sure!

Hey Geek City USA! I'm not sure you still play this game, but I don't think you're supposed to cover all three Floors in dices when you are in the third floor. Like, I think you should only cover the floor your're on, so on floor 3 you don't have to cover floor 1 and 2 with dices.
I wondered about that too, but page 23 of the rules book (v1.9) says, "Slide the dungeon card up, to reveal the new floor's effects and challenge boxes. All visible effects and challenge boxes, including ones from previous floors, are now in effect."
Ill be damned. Well, Ive played with a single floors challenges until now and Ive enjoyed the difficulty levels, so I will stick to it. Thanks for answering!@@ImTheC
my suggestion: play in campaign mode and start with the paladin.
Rogue and archer are too advanced don't start with those.
Just off the record all 1s and 3s rolled against the phantom are immediately discarded, so it would of been 2 damage and 1 time loss. Otherwise I liked the playthrough.
You're not bad at the game, the game is just bad.
The only way to have a chance of winning is to play the campaign game, where you gain new abilities throughout multiple games. Otherwise it's almost impossible, no matter what decisions you make.
Well, I feel much better about myself now! LOL. I've struggled with this game, but I really like it, so I guess I like the struggle.
