Complimenti, questi video sono stati di grande ispirazione per me, li sto studiando attentamente e ogni volta che li riguardo riesco a capire qualche piccolo dettaglio, grazie per la condivisione.

Great explanation! I've built a lot of V6 Merc's, and other's for work anyway, and always learn something new.. if you're not learning then you aren't living!

    Nice video.
This takes alot of hours to do right.
Just remember before honing the cylinders.
Grind the port windows ring clearance 20-30° works best because that fingerport cylinder design love to ring flatter and brake ring or ring position pin.
Need more air and more fuel to after this job

Hi David, great video . Getting ready to port my FF block to 260 spects. I am looking for a old 260 blown block to copy . Any thoughts. Do you know anyone who has one ? Thanks

Any thoughts on merc 120 4cyl 2stroke porting. I want to port intake and exhaust. I want to go from 4 round holes to 2 oval holes and do exhaust mods to prevent blow back from 30degree overlap. So question is. Is there a problem with going from 4 round holes to 2 oval holes? All the porting I see is ppl squaring the 4 holes but then there’s only a thin thin bridge. Where as if day you were to make 2 oval holes then the center web will remain stock. Nice an thick an strong.

I have a 260 drag block bridge port and a 280 great for duplicating Mercury high perf engines

Dont cut out that bring port!
That bring is a upgrade cylinder design.
I have dont the test meny year ago.
The 2000cc Bring port makes more power on trace then 2.4l fingerport.

Exhaust is that high on these? 184 degrees. Wouldn’t that put it opening 88 degrees after top dead center? Not sure how you’re referencing.

You can sure spend some hours grinding on ports. I worked over my old inline 4 cyl Merc like everyone uses on the little hydroplanes but a V 6 adds a lot. At least Merc is dam good from the start because I hear the old OMCs had some really sloppy castings from the factory.

Hi mike. Im currently wrkn on my 99 merc 120 inline 4. I’m looking for any info on intake ports I’d like to port the 4 round holes to 2 oval holes leaving the center bridge alone remaining nice an strong vrs wat I see ppl do witch is squaring the 4 holes put witch leaves thin thin bridges. Would going with 2oval be ok. Not raising anything. Also on exhaust side I can do exhaust wrk to relieve the blow back from #3 into #2. I believe. So I’d like to port exhaust ports. Either making 2 ovals or leaving the outside holes alone and turning the two inner holes into a single oval. Again I see ppl squaring leaving thin thin bridges. Got this motor torn down just at stand still mainly because I feel 2 oval ports be better then 4 squared ports but very very little info of this stuff available. Lastly I don’t see reed stuffers available and I hear that would be good idea so is there an amount to shave off intake surface to act as a reed stuffer so to speak. Plus there’s a lot of material coming out to clean up transfers an such witch creates more crankcase volume so after that I think even more need for reed stuffers or shaving the intake. Any info I’m all ears and much appreciated.

Doesn't really matter once the work is done.
*,From my experience with a few drag ported steel sleeved fishing motors I've ported and built, they can't be beat for the money any day and EVERY day!

Does this porting promote flooding of fuel

PROB A FISH MOTOR IF IT HAD OIL GEAR HOLE TO BLOCK OFF... CUT THE PORTS TO LIKE A DRAG MOTOR.

NO BUT HES CLONING A DRAG WITH A FISH MOTOR

And they run GREAT long as you feed them the extra fuel they need! **And never, ever use the junk piston's Merc uses in their 2.5 fishing motors, I swear by the pro marine Vertex style or even just the pro-v pistons..
