While I agree 100% that this was murder, & he deserved life in prison, preferably in general population, it’s hard to know exactly how the evidence was presented in court: it’s entirely possible this narrators’ hindsight presentation of the case was more compelling and straight forward than what the jury heard.
he literally had a history of domestic violence towards her, lied about accidental discharge (he knows everything about guns), changed his story several times, and couldn’t even cry. he needs life
He’s clearly p$ycho but why not leave him? I never understand that part. And entertaining other men behind a controlling man who is abusive is very bold

As a disabled vfw I can tell you that you don't "accidentally discharge" a round while removing a magazine. The firearm should always be on safe till pointed in a safe direction. Dropping a magazine and racking the slide become second nature. We were also taught and had drilled into us trigger awareness. Why was his finger on the trigger during the process? Considering the fact that Nemetz knew his way around firearms, the domestic violence against Danielle, his arrogant demeanor during the trial - smug facial expression, crocodile tears and wearing his wedding ring - and the multiple stories he told the police, how could anyone think that this was manslaughter?

Considering he went with the story "it was an accident," I would be surprised if he gets anger management counseling. He gets out, gets another girl, and she ends up abused, too. Heard the story a million times. People like him don't change.
He strikes me as a narcissist and psychopath who is extremely self-centered (vain) and can't feel empathy. Psychopaths tend to make a lot of faces in their photos to hide their lack of feeling.
Yeah, it's little man syndrome. He needed guns, tats, liquor to feel tough, blamed her for his insecurities. Poor girl didn't deserve this. I wish I could beat him up, he should be in jail for life, letting this sick pathetic F*** out soon is disgusting.
As someone who grew up without a dad, he passed away when I was 6 months old, I feel for Danielle. All we want is belonging, people to love us. This guy took advantage of that and thought he was above her. R.I.P
My husband is a disabled vet. I've only fired a weapon 3 times in my life. We, as well as our 17 and 11 year old daughters, know that you NEVER aim a weapon at anything or person you do not intend to kill, and you absolutely do NOT rest your finger on the trigger. This guy knew EXACTLY what he was doing.
Even in sweden where we dont have us shitty weapon laws ,( sweden have no weapon aloud at all only hunters and police) we teach kids to never point a softair gun or any "toy weapon " against someone or animals.
I believe the American gun training even phrases it _only point the gun at something _*_you're willing to destroy_* Apparently that phrasing was chosen with purpose.
I never TOUCHED a gun. Not even airsoft guns. And I know very well you do not rest your finger on a trigger. I have a water gun and I don't rest my finger on the trigger. The guy was a soldier, I mean...
Yeah actually out of all the true crime channels I watch I had to say this is the best narration. At least for me. Legit sounds like you could narrate for forensic files or another series on television
We can thank his mother for creating an egotistical maniac. This poor sweet girl did not deserve this. I so wish someone had stepped in and helped her out of that awful relationship before it came to this. She seemed so defeated, I always want to save people like her. They don't deserve this. 😢

Am I the only one disappointed in the jury? I get that they have a difficult task but God damn I can't see how they came to that conclusion. Its really disappointing to know that the few people that this girl had in her life will never feel like justice was served. When this guy gets out in a few years I pray he doesn't do it again.
When the narrator said his mother hired a top-notch attorney I had a sinking feeling about what was to come In terms of his verdict. I feel so sorry for that young woman. She was beautiful and had a full life ahead of her. She deserved so much better than this.
May his life be miserable and unfulfilled when he is out of prison. Justice was not served, karma has to finish it. RIP Danielle 😇 and full-hearted thoughts to your family and friends.
I guess she received her karma if that's how you want to look at it? What does God say for women who cheat on their husbands with multiple men? What karma do they get?
Obviously she cheated on him multiple times with multiple men. She basically humiliated him and while she didn't deserve to die, that makes it harder for me to feel sorry for her. Some men can ha dle that, others will snap. Doesn't make it right of course. She deserved to live.
The interview Skylar gave at approx the 20.00 min showed his true personality I think. Smirking, dismissing his mother's choice to finance his 1 million dollar bond, and still wearing his wedding ring was hard to see after knowing he emotionally & physically abused Danielle. The worry is that when he gets out he'll be young enough to repeat this all over again.
Well she was a lying conniving trick. Anytime someones wife is receiving roses from random dudes it would make anyone flip out. She was mentally abusing HIM by openly sleeping around and receiving gifts from men. She was probably physically abusing him too! While he's deployed working his ass off, she's opening her legs for the entire town. DISGUSTING. Skylar is INNOCENT. Crime of passion at most.
@@JanoyCresva a lying conniving trick who spreads her legs for anyone? You do realize he murdered her right? No, I don't think it was premeditated but he sure as hell isn't innocent. Where was his compassion for his wife, at the moment of her death... he was not in shock, he was covering his ass!! Refusing to tell the neighbours who came to help, what had happened??? He is beyond weird. Did he not have enough time to get a story straight.
How the jury can hear about his abuse of this young woman and still think he killed her unintentionally is beyond me. A young man who knows so much about guns. Stupid jury
Anyone with even the SLIGHTEST amount of firearms knowledge knows damn well you NEVER point a gun at anything you don’t intend to kill and you NEVER put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to discharge the weapon. That jury is incredibly disappointing and they failed that poor girl monumentally. At least she didn’t see it coming and didn’t have time to be scared…. I hope. 😞
Yup. Never handle a gun until you know whats in the chamber/magazine, never point at anyone unless youre in danger, never a finger on the trigger until youre ready to shoot. Its the very first thing my uncle told me when he was teaching me. Its the very first thing that you go through in basic training in the military as well - firearm safety. There is NO EXCUSE
I know I wasn’t a juror but pointing a gun at the back of his wife’s head seems premeditated to me. She doesn’t get her life any more and he’s free and clear in 13.5 years……fair? Not at all.
I don't understand why 2nd degree murder wasn't a thing here. Even if they want to say it wasn't premeditated, like he didn't plan out the date and time, it seems like there's enough to say he intended to kill her when he put the gun to her head. I thought manslaughter was killing someone on accident, and 2nd degree murder was unplanned but intentional homicide. The intent here feels so clear! I don't understand what the jury was thinking calling it manslaughter.
And he's free to kill again, which he will. As a Felon he would not be allowed to own guns, but this kid is a sick control freak with a pampering mother and a drink problem. He'll kill again, it's in his blood.

As a veteran Infantryman who spent 2 tours in Iraq, when I first heard this case I knew that boy was lying. At Benning, they hammered it into your head about muzzle safety and muzzle awareness. We had a soldier in my platoon who hit his girlfriend. The whole platoon was called in on a Saturday morning to deal with the soldier. Afterwards, he called every married soldiers spouse to apologize as to why we were called in. He never did it again and became a model soldier. Soldiers need to speak up and report domestic violence. We got a speech every long weekend or even just a weekend about domestic violence against anyone or anything (animals). Group punishment does work if utilized correctly. This kid murdered his beautiful wife. He didn’t deserve her and his unit failed her too. They knew about it or heard rumors about it. It should’ve been taken seriously and should’ve been investigated.
Thanks for sharing that story, and my apologies for not knowing the chain of command (Sergeant or Senior Drill Instructor?) but that's a great job by your superior for having him call your spouses. We all make mistakes, some worse than others and some are unforgivable, but glad he learned his lesson and made it a priority to change his ways. You're lucky to be part of such a tight platoon. Appreciate you 🙏
Remember, if someone does something and you feel any form of "icky", leave. You owe NOTHING to anyone. You don't have to explain why you're leaving, you don't have to apologize, we all need to be more in tune with listening to those feelings we get.
He'd have been off cheating on her and his guilt was put off onto her like abusers do. If you're ever accused of cheating ask yourself why and investigate privately.

Bullshit. He was active duty military. There is not a person who has been active duty who would ever point a gun at someone's head, whether they thought it was loaded or not, unless they meant to use it. Nor would they assume any weapon was unloaded unless they had cleared it fully. Nor would they have had their finger anywhere near the trigger. A married woman has no business being best friends with another man. Period. Didn't deserve to be killed at all. But obviously she wasn't the perfect wife.
My step dad was a police officer. I remember him saying that anyone who says that a gun "accidentally discharged" while cleaning it, its b.s. Anyone who owns a gun and is cleaning it has to remove the magazine and remove any rounds in it to take apart and clean it. This man knew what he was doing.
Your step dad was wrong then. Yes ppl who ows a gun obviously know how to do it, but people make mistakes. Lots of ppl accidently kill or injure themselves while cleaning their guns.
And even if it you truly thought it was empty, WHY in the world would you point it at the back of your wife's head and pull the trigger? Is that some kind of sick joke? Can't believe the jury let him off so lightly on this.
They don't kill themselves while cleaning it, because there's literally no way to do that in a way that requires you to pull the trigger, and it definitely will not fire after you've disassembled certain components, which is what cleaning a gun entails; ie removing the BCG from my AR. You're also conveniently ignoring the fact that the barrel was pointed at his girlfriend's head; was he cleaning the buttstock? He certainly didn't breakdown the bolt carrier group.
This guy was displaying all of the classic signs of an abuser right from the get go. Isolating his partner, controlling the finances, accusing her of being unfaithful and never allowing her to make decisions for herself while doing whatever the hell he wanted, when he wanted.
It’s so hard to see people you love fall into this trap. I just had a family member enter a really abusive relationship (he is a guy) and it unfortunately also had all clear signs. Isolation, controlling of finances, worry of infidelity. She would beat the crap out of him with bruises all over his body and then say if he said anything she’d bruise herself and go to police. It was totally wild, and all the while he was completely blind to it and didn’t take any of his family (who he was close with) advice. He is doing better now, got away from her. Scary stuff.
@@parallelarc3837 You should look for a documentary on TH-cam that was produced by BBC three called "Abused by my Girlfriend". It's about a young dude named Alex Skeel who was only 17 when he met her, had two kids with her and endured three years of being beaten with hammers, slashed with carving knives, deprived of food to the point of starvation and had boiling water poured over him constantly. His family were constantly trying to help him get away from her but he just couldn't leave. Finally a neighbour heard screaming coming from their flat and called the police. When the police showed up they had to work hard to get him to leave the house and go to the hospital because she had cut his hand really deep with a bread knife and he needed stitches. The doctor at the ER told the cop that if they hadn't gotten him out of the house when they did, he would have died. The doctors estimated that he would have only had about another week or so to live. I think the doco comes under the heading of "Real Stories". It's a really fascinating story. And a story about survival.
Scary to think he’ll be out in 7 years… there are parents with daughters that may never know this story and their daughter could fall victim to this man again sometime. 😢

He will be out in less than that. Most of the time you don't have to serve your whole sentence if you have good behavior. So he will most likely be out in 3-5 years

It's baffling that some go so far as to say "in some cultures this would be acceptable, are you bigoted enough to say they're wrong?" I'll say it. Yes, those cultures are wrong and inferior.
Dumbfounded that his Mother would sell her car, house, jewelry, etc., for a $1M bond. That's some denial right there. Great video as always. Tragedy this guy got such a light sentence.
Well she was the one taught him about guns at age 4, so there's a lot of guilt there for her. Trying to prove he didn't really intend to kill his wife would be #1 priority for her, to try and erase the guilt. But of course it never will.
The way he acted in his testimony was sickening. He acted like he was the coolest dude in the room. Then he keeps breaking down but no matter how hard he tries, he can't even get one tear to come out. IMO, I think he was afraid he was fixing to lose her and his control.

Yep, there are "raging bulls" out there who come in many shapes, but one of their most common traits is rushing the victim into a relationship and preying on those who are already vulnerable. I believe teenagers and young women need to be educated about certain dangerous male personality types because some of them may come with a perfect "cookie-cutter" outward appearance, but their internal world is a complete mess. It was not something I expected to hear from my ex-spouse when he casually said, "if the government asks, I would kill you and I would kill my mother," as if it were a daily routine. Sadly, this girl didn't have both parents looking after her, and sometimes that vulnerability is exactly what predators like to exploit, especially with young women from less privileged backgrounds.

He's a narcissist
His wife was unfaithful. Not that it makes it okay, but he obviously couldn’t keep her in check. Happens a lot esp to army guys.

Danielle truly WAS indeed a miracle baby. My mom had twins that weighed a pound more than Danielle did at an early birth and lost them four days later after they were born.
