April is right about the BMW smell. Women have a greater sense of smell than men but my old BMW 2002 back in 1985 had that smell too. I think it's the leather in the seats. BMW uses very thick leather that holds up longer than other cars. I believe it's the leather they use in the seating. PS. this format of April on location and LIVE from the bronco was actually good. The content was really excellent and the cat was no where to be seen. Great episode.

That's not the whole reason for the price differences, of course (the Ferrari 400/412 is also in the 2000 unit range, and basically no one wants those), but the production and availability difference is a big factor for two very "poster" cars from the era.

#1: Note on that Grand National. It's the basic model and not the special GNX everyone wants. The problem with it is that the market is full of turbo Buicks that have been modified to look like Grand Nationals as well as base models that were ordered from the factory with various options that made it similar to a Grand National ( being that until the GNX it was basically a special order/trim. So you could see a Turbo engine in a non-black Regal or a T-Top version without the motor (say,a V8 instead), and so on, depending on how the packages aligned. Also, as cool as they were, the basic models had a rather mediocre 235HP, giving it a 0-60 time of around 6.6 seconds. Still nice, but not the GNX with 300 actual HP. (GM underrated it a bit) 22K is a decent price. As for 1920s/30s colors, the main ones for fancier cars were blue, beige, red, and gray. All two-tone with the top usually black. That black and red is actually likely how it came from the factory, just re-done with more modern paint at some time. It was Ford especially that was cheap and went with all black. Rolls Royce and Packard went with two tone and more expensive paint just because it WAS expensive and literally showing off what would be in today's money, a 20K paint job on a new car.
