It’s difficult to determine how much the current stock price reflects past expectations, with the company just catching up to the price, versus how much the current price needs to catch up to the company. Investors hardly ever address this difference explicitly.
For sure. Consolidation could be years longer, or as functionality of Optimus rises, Open Sesame.
At this point, the same can be said for FSD. Both of these, FSD & Optimus, are predicated on compute,
and that relationship, AGI:compute power, is a bit similar (in terms of dependency) to how the success of EVs
was predicated on charging station infrastructure.
So there are almost annual catalysts in the auto business, a great energy business trajectory, FSD, Optimus, and
critical infrastructure keeping pace to enable these businesses, i.e., charging stations & Dojo (compute).

Great discussion. I like the 'lines' process at 19 minutes. I did this when I first invested in Apple. I drew a line for +25% and +30% and was immediately embarrassed. What if someone were to see this? They'd think me a fool. I erased them. Then Apple did better.

Buying and holding is hard on the stomach. It takes a lot of strength to realize that owning a growing company and ignoring the crazy behavior of gamblers in the market is really hard.
Holding something for 10-20 years without selling takes a lot out of you.
When this consolidation period is over and the next huge pop in the market price, you will feel like you have "earned" every penny of profit because of the stress that you lived with.
Maybe if you remember that "cash is trash", and the bond funds are explained correctly in the book "liar's poker", where will you store your money?

Nah, it's really more than it was too pumped a few years ago, and it is taking time for the next big thing to be producing profits (e.g. FSD, bots).
First big jump was when it was obvious they weren't going bankrupt. Next big jump is probably when something AI related is producing profits.
X and Tesla are completely different things unless you're a "rocket man bad" NPC, and those people don't move markets.

Hey Herbert - Can you start looking at $NIO as well? After studying the company, I think it has all the right ingredients of becoming a TSLA equivalent in next 5-7 years.
Are we going have to wait until Tesla is making 5 million vehicles before the market wakes up? It is us the individual investors that are keeping the stock price up. Any time the stock price is below $200 is a demand buy for anyone thinking more than 90 days ahead.

With Tesla stock floundering for over 2 years now, how long, and what is it going to take to impress Wall Street? I´ve so far only modeled the Car and Energy business and for 2030 I see revenue of $500bn, possibly EPS of $22 so a possible share price of $1,100. FSD V12 looks very promising though due to Cruise approval could be slow. Optimus has the movement and dexterity, I hope to see some useful work later this year.
If it is anything like the Model 3+, we'll probably see covered up test Juniper Model Ys driving around for seemingly forever before they release it.
What are your thoughts on German Tesla Factory pollution problem? They are exceeding Phosphorus and nitrogen waste 6x and facing regulatory issues at this point of time.

According to Tesla, they have their own waste treatment facility for the factory. The only thing going into the "county" waste treatment is the normal kitchen, bathroom type effluent. Obviously someone is playing fast and loose with the facts.

Yeah the only thing I don't like about my MY and have had passengers comment on is the harsh ride over bumps. If they improve the Y like the 3, it would be perfect. With Tesla opening up the SC network to other makers, Tesla will need to do this to keep ahead.

Lack of batteries. 4680 are not ramping up as fast because of the dry anode chemistry delays.
@@petemiller519 That's one reason. Another is that the Semi was a new area for Tesla so they were using Pepsico as a test bed. They've had a year now and will be doing the modifications that were found to be needed, then start a full ramp with the newer factory there in Nevada.
Because it was in pilot production. Low volume. Limited cell supply. And need no nor fix a host of issues with that weight and load and new platform

The Nevada building is going up so should start to see more later. Along with they need they megapack and chargers along with they need the buildout of charger stations. This will take a decade to roll out and come to fruition

It seems to take years of outstanding(against the norms) performance to move the price up, but only one -ve fud comment to bring it crashing down. I know that's subjective but it does seem to be a stock that is more tainted by negativity than most.
I took my almost new model 3 for alignment and tire balance? when I went to pick it up I was told that I have to pay $406.00 before I can take my car out! I asked for a print out on the alignment? they told me that their alignment machine did not saved the information? I asked them that how would I know that they did the alignment? there respond was, you have to trust the tesla?? I used my AMX to pay and I told them if you can't provide me with a print out for my service I will dispute the charges! I did and my credit card gave me the credit back. Three weeks later with the appointment I took the same car to the service department because windows were not closing all the way up? they are telling me that I have to pay for the alignment that I dispute before they can look at my car? I told them this is a highway robbery! they just said they are sorry? I love my tesla I love Elon Musk for the things that they have done for human race, But I don't think this is fare practice!? We don't any other choice except taking our Tesla to tesla service center and this is how they treat you?!

For FSD Tesla decides/knows when the value gets realized. Value gets realized when Tesla successfully gets L4 for a regulatory area, likely California and that all Tesla owners can use (pay for usage) of FSD.
Until now Elon have just said this year, which have always been unrealistic to achieve what is required.
So, the true question is does Tesla believe they can achieve L4 with V12 and how will they enable all Tesla owners to use it (insurance per use), like pay per trip.
4:15 you can't count Optimus as something that affects stock price, yet. It's not a profitable asset, yet.
Every stock is valued at future earnings… or that is the standard .. “the potential futures earnings of the life of the company”

It seems to me the discussion should be about profit, not revenue.
We've been seeing BOMBSHELL announcements for over two years now; yet, Wall Street is still not impressed. That said, I remain skeptical that anything Tesla does anymore is going move the stock. We have two years now of a very consistent pattern; however, if I see Tesla stock move like Nvidia stock, I have money saved to invest. I may not get in on the ground floor, but there will be plenty of time to witness an upward trend. To Tesla and its investors, I say, "Good luck!"

@@ssing7113 Unfortunately you missed my point. Maybe I can explain my point better for you. Let’s take your point about how wealthy Ron Baron is, but also consider his age. He is a very wealthy man, who also happens not to be a young man. Now, what do you think his most valuable asset has to be? I will answer that question for you if you are unsure, it is time. As a very wealthy person who is not young, how could spending so much time in interviews and on TV pounding the table on Tesla stock be a good use of his time? If Tesla was such a sure winner investment as Ron spends so much of his precious time explaining, he would surely want to spend that time in other pursuits.
As far as my opinion on Tesla the stock (the first time I have expressed an opinion in this thread), currently I don’t have a position. I have made a lot of money in Tesla on the long side and the short side. I personally think Tesla is an excellent company run by one of the greatest entrepreneurs of all time. Unfortunately, Tesla is in one of the lousiest most competitive industries one could pick, so it will always be a trade, not a buy and hold forever stock. There is a reason a far more successful investor than Ron Baron has said Berkshire will never own the stock.
Tesla has great market share in Europe and North America. Will the Chinese be able to make inroads to these markets? That is the major unknown in my opinion. One thing in Tesla's favor is the market percentage of EVs is still low. 7 percent? Much easier to grow when ICE sales slow which is inevitable. Better software and FSD are the only things Tesla has over the Chinese competition. There is no doubt in my mind China has been helped by Tesla in all aspects of building EVs.

It's not exactly the same as earlier periods. The business is actually not groving now! We are between growth phases for at least one more year.
That's why Wall Street is so uninterested, I think. They disregard the next growth phase until we are at it. They want to see Giga Mexico.
"The business is actually not growing now" is false. Whether groving or growing Tesla's vehicle deliveries were up 38% last year. How can you say no growth? Growth may have been less than in previous periods, but Tesla is still growing at a very fast pace all things considered. Revenues in 2023 were up over 18%. That is growth!
Two things. One, FSD hasn’t lived up to the hype. …Yet. When it does in 3, 5, 10 years the high PE ratios might be justified. But until then the company is growing into the price. It’s still in the high 40s which is too high for a car company. And yes, Tesla is a car company.
Two, they need the 25k car and to keep growing market share. The boom in 2019 and 2020 was based on future expectations. After the 3/Y growth there doesn’t seem like much will be happening for a while. The cybertruck and semi don’t really impact earnings that much .
They need the Mexico factory.
Also people are getting nervous about China. Could the bad economic conditions in China somehow affect Shanghai? If Tesla could rely less on Shanghai and more on other plants that would help.
And a CEO that isn’t viewed negatively by the very people he should be selling cars to might help.
Kramer is just trying to make his ford stock rise. I’ll start to worry when Kramer loves Tsla

@@kjk11719 not the whole planet, because some other company or country will show up eventually, but there has to be a whole infrastructure of rules and commerce set up before Mars's resources have any value on Mars itself. Transporting Martian resources back to Earth is not cost effective.
Tesla needs to focus on Megapacks and powerwalls where margins are high. By 2030 Tesla will get 20% of its revenue from cars
Power walls aren’t a large chuck coupled with the fact of falling retail pricing and competition heating up for home energy storage.
Megapack also has competitors when people see a 25% margin when you install a chunk of others people’s batteries in a metal box .. also Chinese have been doing this longer then Tesla and they actually have the cell supply
But yea I will agree Tesla should be ramping more factories. They’ve obviously done the analysis though and don’t see it fit for this moment to add another factory for whatever reason unknown to us

Sure would be helpful if Buffet took a stake in TSLA, like he did with BYD. He bought into the visionary. And Tesla and TSLA’s mkt cap are plenty big for an investment to make a difference to Berkshire Hathaway. They’re a whale who needs whale opportunities. Well, one’s staring them right in the face, right here at home, their favorite locale.

Why would they purchase a stake? Unless you buy into the FSD/Optimus hype (which they clearly don't), Tesla is way overvalued.

Tesla don’t have a dividend and Tesla is not a model he can understand along with him thinking it’s too overvalued.

Hans is false on Model Y Refresh, Tesla have to Update the Model Y ASAP. Without subsidies the Model Y demand crash. You see it in Europe... Tesla gives huge discounts on leasing to keep up the demand. I bought a Model 3 SR Highland - comming from Model Y LR....Guys the Model Y is rreeally old, refresh is a huge step.

Just wants to list this , 1 new factory for megapack, 1 new factory for the Semi truck, fast scaling of cybertruck, Fantastic reviews of new model 3, expansion of Giga Texas, 4 days to starting building giga Mexico, lithium refinery almost done, scaling of 4860 batteries, fast progress on optimus robot, big improvements in FSD 12 , Everyone accepting superchargers (which is growing every day), 30 Billion in cash, record sales so far this year in China and Europe , model 2 lines being build, Roadster gen 2 comming this year AND stockprice the same as in 2021. The explosion will be huge !!!

Tesla had no money to do bigger steps 10 years ago now Tesla must not care about destroying everything to do big steps so when you evolve so quick then you see that it is not reasonable to come out early you always see that wait another 3 months and then you are getting bigger leap. When you come out early your produxtion lines are outdated too early. so compact car line will last like 10 years not 5. Roi of that line that does 10 years is 5x or more and you waited 3 months
If Elon would stop his casual tweeting about Nazis and antisemitism and transgender issues, I think that Tesla would be doing better. I think these careless public statements, undermine his image as a smart, businessman and engineer, and make him look somewhat unbalanced, and perhaps a riskier Investment in spite of of his impressive track record.
One thing I can see by listening to what people in general think about Tesla's stock potential is that we are surrounded by biaised morons, Jim Cramer being their Master. Elon is a genuine genius.
