Thank you for the ketchuup recipe. These are the condiments you miss when doing a low carb lifestyle. Can you take it to the next level and make three or four different barbecue sauce recipes with your ketchup as the base please. A few mayonnaise recipes would be lovely also please. For those that don't know. Swerve IS 100% erythritol. I don't like monkfruit. I think it tastes just as bitter as stevia. I'm going to try some allulose.

The recipe calls for 5 tablespoons of sweetener. I'd suggest starting out with 2 or 3 and adding more to taste. You can't un-add ingredients and keto people are extra sensitive to sweetness since we've largely cut it from our diets.

      Make your own mayo.
      Crushed garlic and fresh lemon.
You can then add some finely chopped celery and maybe a pinch of some sweetener.

Tomato paste is concentrated tomatoes of course. So the natural fructose in tomatoes is considered low enough to still be keto? I agree I like monk fruit best. You have to read the ingredients though. Some contain erythitol (alcohol sugar) and some don't digest it well.

I've recently decided I would make my own condiments for my low carb-no sugar diet since most condiments in the grocery are packed with the bad stuff and the healthier versions are expensive, Recycling old bottles and jar is good for the environment and for my pocket as well. Labelling the bottle with the date you make the product can also help you take track on how much longer you can use it.

    • @C4M3120N

I just stumbled upon this recipe just now. I know your question is almost a year old. No one has answered it and I would like to. For you or anyone else reading this.
Yes, you can absolutely omit, replace or substitute any ingredient. Not everyone has the same taste buds. However, the are barely any cloves in this recipe. The amount added is in no way intended to bring any sort of clove taste to the party. In this instance, it's added to compliment or enhance other flavors. Think movie theater popcorn. Just butter on the popcorn is okay or just salt on the popcorn is okay too. However when you combine both butter and salt, they enhance each other and create an overall better flavor.
Bottom line is. This recipe is incredibly cheap to experiment with. I would recommend trying one without cloves and one with cloves and see if you can even notice the cloves at all or how exactly even just a tiny bit of cloves enhances the overall flavor.

Tip- Open the can of paste on both ends. Remove one of the lids and use the other lid to push the paste thru.

Tried this recipe with the sukrin and added a tablespoon of tomato purée as our passata here across the pond is a bit runny.. Ketchup turned out A**MAZING!!!. Much better than the Heinz sugar free that sells for £2.60...Thank you THANK YOU Bobby 😊

Yes please on the condiments videos. I've had to stop eating chicken wings because my stomach can't tolerate all the bad fast food dipping sauces. BTW I prepared your shrimp recipe for Valentine's and my husband loved it. Thank you

I made this ketchup. Doubled the recipe because Ketchup is a food group of its own. The only divination I made was chipotle chili included with the smoked paprika. Almost BBQ in flavor. It made just short of a quart. And I used my 4qt slow cooker. That way I did t have to babysit it. Delicious!

I checked out so many ketchup recipes. You were the only one I saw cook it. So I tried yours and it taste like what my grandma made. I needed sugar free and I do use concentrated stevia. I love it!

Can't wait to make it!! I stopped eating regular ketchup a long time ago before I started keto. This was after I had some generic brand on French fries. It burned my throat all the way down. No idea what could have caused that.
The organic brand I use now, I don't have a problem with.

Made this today, came as close to the real thing as I think u can get. Great job! Thanks for this recipe! Simple easy just a little time in and it's done. I did use the monk fruit. I can see where I'll use this ketchup along in other recipes. And some salad dressing for sure. Really good! Thanks!

Canned tomatoes are cheap to buy and xanthan gum is good for make it sauce. A plastic bag is a good tool for bottling.

I have made catsup but long ago, a traditional recipe. I will try your recipe. Right now I am using Simple Nature Organic from Aldi. Ingrefients seem good. Would like to hear your review on this product. There is no Costco where I live. Walmart country. But they are planning to build one next town over. We do have a local natural food CO-OP which has been here since the seventies. Also Natural Grocers and Whole Foods. I am CO-OP member. I have been interested in natural foods since the seventies and love cooking and eating. We have an award winning farmer's market which I take full advantage of. Right up my street. I walk to it. Tried many different things over the years. Your info is great. Thank you.
