    The best thing about Hotone is the way they’ve really nailed a natural distortion sound. So many others fall down on this (Line 6, for example!)

    This is a GOOD 1! The amp sims sound really authentic, esp the OD sounds! They don't sound harsh and synthetic like a lot of these things do. They sound LIKE real amps, which is GREAT! Many of these kinds of units do EFFECTS well, and clean amp sounds well, but soon as you get into the od sounds they sound so processed. This, otoh does not!
    Good stuff Shano! \m/

    A couple notes: A cool feature is that it runs at 9 v which means you can use a normal pedal power supply. Second, is that the expression pedal can be both a volume pedal and then control another parameter (like wah) by using the pressure sensor on the pedal.
    Sweet video!

  • @tonefish3825
    @tonefish3825 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I am digging my original Ampero. I would miss the extra footswitch and the parameter knobs. I really like that I can configure the parameter knobs to be whatever I want in each patch.

    I finally pulled the trigger and bought this. I LOVE it. I'm not a blues guy (I'm mostly about shoegaze, post-punk, and new wave). For the music I make, many of the stock presets are pretty phenomenal right out of the gate. Most of the stock dirty presets need some fine tuning to make them work, but what do you really expect for a ~$300 modeller? I'm still learning the ins and outs of this guy, but it's really cool. Love the Stoned Psycho preset, as well as the Narrowed Vision, Galaxy Rover, and Panned Horror presets.
    EDIT: also LOVE that Les Paul, Shane!

    Enjoyed the video Shane, one of best one's on this unit IMO. One disappointment for me, and all the other reviewers miss it as well; there's a bunch of acoustic simulations in that unit as well. I've been dying to hear what they sound like. I'm considering a hybrid guitar to get some half-way decent acoustic sounds. But if I can get by without buying a new guitar... Just saying (well, asking) 😁

    • @kenmar4009
      @kenmar4009 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dialed one in and my girlfriend came into the room and wondered how I was playing my acoustic since it was still in the bedroom. That said it's not going to sound or feel like a vintage Martin..

    • @LucianoClassicalGuitar
      @LucianoClassicalGuitar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do an amazing job at simulating acoustic guitar. When I tried it I had to look twice to my guitar to convince myself it was electric.

    • @stuarthoopfer963
      @stuarthoopfer963 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually gig with an acoustic but after getting this pedal I may use it with my electric instead of bringing my acoustic. The dreadnaught and jumbo acoustic presets are great. They sound more like a mic/piezo pickup sound. There are some new fender acoustisonic ones that are okay but not great. It is bang on to mic’s up acoustics or piezo acoustics for the corresponding presets. Hope this helps!

    Nice Vid Shane! In my opinion there’s not enough switches, I like to use them more like Stomp Boxes instead of Programming Presets. Too many variables to have to play with Live. Looks like it would work well though for Astudio work. Please keep up the Good Work! Stay Safe and Healthy! Cheers from Ohio, US!!

      Jon D'oh When you start making your sole living as a musician please let me know! I’ve done so probably since you were in diapers. But thanks for the Reply.....Genius!!! The Unit would probably work ok for Studio Work but I use a Line 6 HX Unit if I need it in a Studio. Although I guess since I’m such a Genius I really don’t need much programmable units in a Studio since all Studios I’ve worked in Allow me the option to use what ever rig I choose. Have a Great Day man.

    I would easily recommend Hotone products. I have 3 of the Legacy series. They hold there value too, which was tricky to find the trinity (tweed, vox, plexi) on the used market. Their customer service ain’t bad either.
    This system sounds incredible! I like the looks of the interface. Very well done. The device itself is simple and seems to have a great layout. Thanks for showing it off @intheblues. It was a really enjoyable review!

    Great video Shane.I was looking into getting either the Ampero One or the 4 button Ampero.I'm really an ole school player and I got the feeling you didn't care for the Ampero straight into your amp.I would be using it this way and not into a computer,though I also do own the FRFR Headrush 108 as an option.Your thoughts on running it straight to a clean amp? Thx Shane!

  • @steveliberty
    @steveliberty 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I guess this is the little brother of the Ampero? At $499 US, the Ampero has some stiff competition in the new Line 6 POD GO ($449 US). I think The POD GO might be a better choice for many buyers. But the Ampero One, at $299 US has a place in the market. And typically, the presets in devices like this suck. But the few you demo'd sounded good - which will appeal to buyers who don't want to tweak all day.

    • @davidbergewaytogo

      Yes, as a matter of fact, I assign FS1 to turn on FX2, FS2 to FX3, and CTRL to do whatever I want. Then FX1 is free for a wah to be activated by the toe switch. The limitation in firmware v2.0 is that FS1 and 2 assigments to FX[123] are GLOBAL settings. CTRL assignment is per patch. I think they don't remove this frankly silly limitation to make space for the original ampero. Since FXs can be moved in the chain, that still leaves you plenty of options.

  • @cyberdidi

      This is about the same in terms of usability and overall sound. They are all somewhat similar in their design but this is one of the few with a touchscreen. It all comes down to how many effects you want to chain together. The bigger the board usually, the more effects you can add. :)

    Sorry, but I don't like this review at all. Most of the reviews of these pedals on youtube channels are like commercial advertisements. None of the review covers the problems - or limitations - this pedal has. Almost the entire space of the review is focused on amps and how good they are; very little time spent talking about the effects and their quality. The effects appear to be the weak point of this "pedal", as well as the management of their number and order in the signal chain.

    I got one for Christmas
    It’s definitely got lots of mids to high mids
    Distortion in the Ampero are harsh almost brittle sounding
    I think this pedal is more suited for low tuning Like drop c Ext. …..definitely cuts through and sounds way better the low tuning brings the smooth bass sound that you can’t get no matter how much you play with eq or mic global eq etc ……..
    But just regular tunings fore me at least no it lacks that smooth warmth

Am I wrong with this observation?

I like combining signals even running all 4 at the same time different pedals and so on. That would be good to see. I have all 4 going to a radial shotgun then hook to a headphone amplifier so I can use one set of headphones. Also redid pedal board with a temple audio board.

    Most of the presets that you tried sounded pretty good, except for that awful fuzz. But I suppose you maybe could dial it in a bit better. It's definitely a set and forget style of pedal - be a nightmare to try and change anything on the fly playing live. I do like the touch screen option, just not enough controls to grab a hold of to tweak.

      there is a -6db difference between the 2 because the ampero one uses less power so less db

      Did you perhaps find a solution for this?

      @@Marc_Dehning I did. It can be done on the unit. However I sold it as I found the software to be terrible. For instance to upgrade to a new version you have to down load and install every version of the software until you get to the latest version. So buying it new means a lot of down loading. Other aspects of the unit I did not like as well. But to each his own.

    Hi, I would have liked to hear it in stereo.I noticed that you plugged into the mono output which is meant to go to your amp. And then you miked the amp, and that's what we're hearing. That's fine. But if I want to go directly into the desk, then I would of course use both outputs for an amzing stereo sound. Then the Ampero really shines. But anyway, thank's for the lesson. (Maybe you can do another one in stereo...?)

    The name Ho Tone fits perfectly - cheap and exhilarating.

    I believe @Nick in the States summed it up perfectly in the live chat: Excellent video, great pedal, I don’t really need it buy I want one!!😆😆🤣 The crazy thing is it was that synth preset that I really felt could be used to layer unique tones and vibes to a track. Crazy how something outside the norm can really open up creativity! I do remember enjoying the previous Ampero model and I feel like Hotone makes a great alternative to the Headrush or the Line 6 Helix as far as price. Great video Shane! Cheers!🎸🎸🎸🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

    Can the unit work as a stomp box mode? I mean, can you assign effects to each switch and turn them on and off individually while you're running the amp simulation? Great video btw.

      Yes but don't try it on a long press setting use momentary or you'll briefly switch patches too...
