Yay mud baths!!! My lad loves rolling in the muddiest part of the field. One time he was clean and dry one side and the other side was plastered in wet mud. I've no udea how he got such a straight line down his back, but at least I only had to clean one side of him!! 🤣🤣🤣

That mud roll is the reason I'll never own a white or grey horse. It was always red chestnuts or flaxen maned liver sorrels for me.

My trainer and I gave a name to when ponies stand all by themselves. We call it standing pony hunter. My horse just stands there when I move jumps for my lesson. It is really funny because I could leave the arena and he wouldn’t care. My pony will literally stand in the same spot for hours if you ask him to. Love you Meg ❤ and great job at standing pony hunter Jammy!

The horse I'm hoping to show on this May also had colic just this past Friday. He's 25 and his owners also thought it was the end. Luckily, the champ that he is, he got back up and seems to be recovering alright.
Also, that pink top with the green trousers was *a look* and I loved it. Wish I was blond so I could pull off pink lol Still...might try to recreate that outfit...

Thanks for an interesting vlog. As a (slightly) older, ex-horsey lassie, I'm loving reliving my teenage dreams through your work - and grateful I never had to do them myself as jumping is scary as heck to me!! I wanted to say it's great to see a TH-camr who isn't pretentious and who is a great role model for young and old. I love the enthusiasm, sincerity and fun you give in your videos.
I know eventing is your main thing, but I'd love it if you did a series on different equestrian sports/activities - a bit like how your Iceland trip explored a different way of being with horses. I loved side saddle riding so much as a teenager, it would be great to see that featured. There's also western riding, endurance, driving... Maybe even teaming up with a Paralympic rider? Maybe Vlogmas 2024?!

Colic seems to be striking the UK pretty badly right now! Our poor Frankie got ill with it last Sunday, he was lying in the stable and the yard owner thought he was resting so took him a hack and he looked like he was about to fall so had to run him home and all he wanted to do was roll, it’s taken 3 horses in our area in the last few weeks and luckily the vet got out here within 25 minutes and he’s ok, so glad people were around the yard, it was some sort of red worm thing apparently, all the horses have been treated and Frankie was as right as rain within an hour or so, went out his first hack since on Friday

    • @Shannon-nl1dz

You are so beautiful and talented -- I hope more Equine Orgs realize this too and hire you to represent them. I'm a big fan of Lucy's channel too; and I have to say her outfit was stellar -- uber elegant. And all your fashion choices were fantastic too. You two are so fun together. I laughed when Dee took off up the canter track 😂 Reminds me of my boy Carlin (nearly 17 but still a monkey!). When you said “Oh no, she’s bucking!” I knew exactly how you felt, but isn’t it funny how we laugh when it’s happening? Carlin goes “boink, boink, boink” 🤣 I’m 60 this year and still loving life with the ponios, I must be mad! So happy Ace is on the mend, terrifying when they colic. Good luck with your presentations, you’ll smash it Meg. Oh, and finally, Pete coming to the yard to be with Ace…he’s fully immersed into the crazy world of horses now. Once you’re in, there’s no escape xx

Glad your Ace boy is fine. Kudos for not putting him through surgery if it ended that way. Some people are not actually being kind putting their older animals through surgeries. I'm not a fan of artificial aids. Too much quick fiixing that doesn't take into account natural way of going, conformation and lack of actual correct schooling which takes longer. But you are a thoughfull, caring owner so I know you won't abuse the system.

I’m so glad Ace is ok, colic is genuinely one of the scariest things a horse owner can experience, in the past few years I have had 2 of my horses be taken because of it 🕊 as well as a mild colic last week and it just makes me feel sick at the thought of colic claiming another innocent life, sorry that was a bit depressing but Acey is such a strong boy and I’m so glad to see him doing well. And I would just like to add that you are such an inspiration to me in so many ways, you have had such an impact on my life in the best way possible, as a younger kid I always thought I wanted to show horses forever and I was petrified of a x rail, but you have given me so much confidence jumping and made me so determined to event now, although I know I’m never being to be as amazing as you are I really hope that I can one day produce my own horses and event them 💗
Btw one of my horses is the same as Jam, he just stands there watching while I set up jumps 😂

A lack of fluids is also a big cause of colic in the winter as just like us we don't drink as much in the cold winter.
I give my two 2 buckets of water in the winter one of them is flavoured water! Done this for the past 2yrs and never had colic since, my mare luv's mint flavoured water where all I do is melt a packet of sugar free strong mints in a litre of boiling water then pour it into the bucket of normal water. The gelding luv's apple flavoured water and all I do is get a cartoon of fresh apple juice and pour it in his water.
There second bucket of water they have is just plain normal water so they have the choice.
I also dissolve a piece of salt lick into a bucket of water once a week to make sure there still getting enough salts, this also prevents the water from freezing when it's below 0'c out there.

only like 15 mins in, but wanted to say - I‘ve seen SOOOO MANY people advertising for Hello Fresh and it‘s made me actually order it. I‘ve been using Hello Fresh for about ~3 month now and it‘s AMAZING! Love the spices and the sauces they do, and they make me experiment a LOT more. Besides that - yes it‘s more expensive than just going to buy the stuff in Aldi, but usually, if I go to a grocery store, I buy lots of shit that ends up being kinda expensive - and I‘m not really creative with the meals then. I don’t really enjoy cooking but HF makes it super easy to have a tasty healthy meat.

I only have two horses and I keep them at home so no livery yard usual muck heap removal. My neighbour is a dairy farmer who comes over with his digger and digs a big hole and when its level full the soil that was dug out gets put back over the top so I basically bury it.
I let the local allotment owners come and get what they want as well as the local gardeners for free! I also split my 3acre paddock and cut off an acre at a time once a year and fertilize my own paddock by spreading it myself (or should I say my partner does it, his favourite job, lol). Doing all that means that I only have to have mine removed which costs me £200 around once every 6-8mths
