Made me smile in that first spot, he said "Across Stream and Up stream" and you were still casting down stream. Glad to see you got rid of that Hawser you were using as a leader.
I came on here to say just that. Any stream/river that you're in and you can't see the bottom or don't know well, a wading staff is a must. Helps.you keep balancing when traversing across too. Cool location though and nice to see the trout.
River fishing again ... Loving this NEW you mate? river fishing suits you mate as does Sea fishing. The problem with summer sea fishing from beach is that the summer brings "OUT" more people, More people more stupid dog walkers walking into your line etc etc or asking if you got anything ? while, their dogs pissing up your gear or trying to eat you bait. As the case in Yorkshire like Whitby or sands end or down in Saltburn .....More drugged up surfers thinking the own the sea and that's why I no longer go sea fishing anymore after spending £1000 just on fishing gear alone for the beach for that practice in mind . Hang in there mate , you got this hands down , it does become second nature after a while this river fishing as does any fishing?
@@theawfulangler When I was a kid I bought a book called the Awful Angler. It was a ‘how to’ on fishing for different species and the main character always getting it wrong was Albert.
Across and down , few reels off and on to give it some life. Well done you're getting there!
Lovely looking river . . . .

Well done Alex, you're getting there. Is that the Derwent you're on?
Waw I miss the river
You should come visit some time, mate.
Rod... LMAB .... LA MUSTIQUE ... best bang for buck. Spin version 😊
First new purchase must be a bloody wading staff not a new rod! 🤔

Easy answer, fish in the dark! Generally you catch more as well, or don't fish the tourist traps or surf breaks.
Wasn’t the Awful Anglers name Albert?
You might have to explain that one to me
