    Many thanks for the videos, just did my 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv. The oil looked disgusting red-black in color. Cannot speak for the Mazda 3 change interval, but my Corolla likes a change at 18.000 km. So much easier to change in Corolla 🙃 Thanks again !!

    • @dagrote1
      @dagrote1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've heard a lot of people say you shouldn't change your transmission oil if it's really, really old. Apparently, the thinking goes that your transmission will have already been worn down, and if you put new -- really slick -- fluid in, your transmission will slip, even to the point of not being able to run at all. What was your experience?

    • @yearlymandonothack
      @yearlymandonothack 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mazda says the transmission is "lifetime"
      Honestly I think you should be ok if you do it now, but I probably wouldn't wait to much longer.

    Good video the way I'm going to do it is before I even start draining the fluid I'm going to pull the dipstick out when the car is completely cold and then I will check the dipstick when the car is cold it will give me an idea of where the fluid should be when the vehicle is cold I feel if I do it this way I cannot go wrong after I add the 4 quarts of FZ transmission fluid take the car for a ride park it is let the car sit overnight and in the morning when the car is cold check the level on the dipstick I feel that will give me a pretty accurate reading

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, you can do it that way. You can also try checking the fluid while the engine is running to have more basis for inspection.
      About the job done to this vehicle, actually, we have already performed this several months ago. I just uploaded this video recently. I put 4 quarts/liters of FZ transmission and it runs good. No problem at all. Everything is good up until now. Been using the vehicle for several months.

      @@DraftProject have you had any problems at all since you changed your fluid I basically took out exactly three quarts and put exactly three quarts back in so far so good I was going to do more but they were all out of fluid at the mazda dealer only had three quarts man that FZ fluid is expensive 55 dollars for 3 qts

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dobermanguy9437 No problems at all. Everything is smooth and working properly.
      Basically, the rule is what or how many comes out, comes in. Just make sure you properly measured the fluid that comes out. If there is only 3 quarts in your drain pan, then put 3 quarts back in your transmission, no need to add more. If you want to be extra sure, just check the dipstick for assurance.
      Oh man that is really expensive. Here, it ranges around 30 dollars for three quarts.

  • @charleshines5700
    @charleshines5700 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If you have socketed bits (not expensive at all) you won't need the wrench and Allen key. Just make sure that the ratchet is set to loosen so that you don't accidentally strip it thinking it is too tight when you just got confused and did it the other way for some weird reason accidentally. I just know there is some horribly unlucky person who that has happened to somewhere.

    • @DraftProject

      We recommend doing it in this cycle:

      Change fluid and Filter at 50,000 Km

    • @big0bad0brad

      The transmission should survive to at least 200K MILES without a fluid change, 25K kilometers is a really low number and you're going to waste a lot of time and money. I don't really recommend going 200K miles but I did and it's still driving (2013 '3 2.0L skyactiv automatic).

    This is very educating. I have the 2017 mazda 3 Grand Touring. Has the 2.5l skyactive engine. I have 35k miles on it. When should I change the fluid? What type of fuel do you guys use? I use premium fuel octane gas but wonder if instead of premium if I can use regular gas.

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you have miles as unit, that would be probably around 56k kms. We recommend it to change the fluid as soon as possible to maintain the whole transmission. At this mileage, you might have been experiencing some jerky or rough shifting. Changing the fluid will eliminate it and make it smooth again.
      For the type of gasoline, it is best to follow what has been said in the service manual. In our vehicle, we only use regular gas as recommended by the manufacturer.

    • @yearlymandonothack
      @yearlymandonothack 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mazda says it is a "lifetime" transmission fluid. I still recommend changing the fluid though at around 60k to 100k miles American. Just be careful, as a rebuilt transmission is EXPENSIVE.

  • @adazeniou7823
    @adazeniou7823 ปีที่แล้ว

    You haved to replace the filter inside of the transmission and clean the gasket?
    An old mechanic says to me ''when you get a shower why you wear new clean underwear and you do not wear the same?''
    When you change oil you must change and filter too!
    I think is better!
    I am not a mechanic.
    Thanks for the video anyway!

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct. The replacement of filter is around 50k-60k Km. This job, which is only a drain and refill job, is done at 25k Km.
      The drain and refill is optional but I recommend it. I did not change the filter because it is too early and for that, the condition of the filter is not that dirty. I just changed the fluid to prolong the life of the filter before I change it by 50k Km.
      Of course, changing the filter is still the best and there is nothing wrong with it. The only issue is the cost could be doubled. You can change it if you want to.
      Hope this helps. Thank you very much too.

    • @DraftProject

      Oxidation causes the transmission fluid to change color. When used and vehicle operates, the fluid absorbs pressure and release bubbles, creating a chemical reaction that leads to change of color and properties.

    Where can I find the check procedure for my 2016 CX-5. Owners manual doesn’t specify any procedure or trans fluid level check. Where did you get the “wait 5 minutes after temp light goes out” procedure?

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mostly you can find it on service manual. Owner's manual only provides basic stuff and knowledge while service manual gives you every details, procedures, and technical points. Unfortunately, we don't have a service manual for our vehicle.
      The 5 minutes procedure was actually our experiment. First, we check the fluid at cold engine which has high reading on the dipstick. Then, we turn on the engine and the fluid level started to decrease. After five minutes or when the temp light goes out, the fluid stays on a certain level only. It won't decrease anymore even though you let the engine run for a few more minutes or even hours. That indicates an accurate fluid reading. That's where we concluded the five minutes procedure.

      This is actually from Mazda 2.
      Since Mazda 2 and 3 shares the same 1.5L engine, transmission are also near identical, except the gearing ratios. Just kindly confirm this part number in your nearest Mazda dealer for your vehicles compatibility.

If you did a few drain and refill throughout the life of your transmission it should be good and clean. don't overdue it though. 26000 km in this video is a bit overkill. I would have waited till at last 75k km

    If I'm unable to find genuine atf FZ what other fluid can I use?

    • @DraftProject

      For this vehicle, I don't recommend any other transmission fluid than the ATF FZ since Mazda transmission is pretty sensitive. There is one which is the Valvoline MaxLife MV which some says that it works and compatible with FZ transmissions. Although, I'm not really sure about it. Sorry about that.

      I live in Australia and Mazda FZ is very expensive here. First I used Valvoline maxlife for drain and fill, however, the transmission made noisy and was not so good. I needed to drain the fluid again and used the Penrite LV ATF. Now the transmission was back to normal.

    Hi, may I know which brand of ATF is best for mazda cx5 2.2 diesel? I just reach 110k and 5 years. how about motul ATF?

      @DraftProject  ปีที่แล้ว

      I highly recommend using original Mazda ATF only for assurance, just like what I've used in the video. You can use other fluid too but, I don't recommend it because these transmissions are sensitive and can have issues due to slight incompatibility with other fluids.

    Yo what size of sealant washer does the bolt uses?

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  ปีที่แล้ว

      The size of the washer gasket fits into a 17mm drain bolt.

    That is not a safe jack point.

      You can jack it directly into the rails too, But expect that the metal could bend or warp.

    Hello. I have a 2015 Mazda 3 and in the operations manual it says that takes 7.8 lts (8.2 qts) but you added just 4 qts, can you clarify this please? I want to change it and want to be clear on how much I have to add

      I am about to change mine soon and from what I've learnt some fluid is actually stuck in torque converter - which is not accessible if you only remove drain plug + bottom of the fluid pan. HTH.

    • @Jcvasquez93
      @Jcvasquez93 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rikki146ohh I see..thank you! Finally I was able to change it and it took the 4 qts to replace the old one. It must be like you explain that the whole 8 qts are needed

      @DraftProject  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry I wasn't able to respond. Yes, rikki146 is right. In some cars I believe, has an accessible drain plug for the torque converter. Other used a machine like a dialysis to completely change the fluid in the whole transmission. Don't worry about it, the main focus for this job is to only return what has been drained with a fresh fluid.

      @@DraftProject excellent. Thank you very much. Another question, I found that there is a filter that can be replaced, but it would be needed to open and remove the cover to replace. Do you think this is necessary or if there is any risk by doing it? I didn’t know it could it could be replaced until after.

    • @DraftProject
      @DraftProject  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if you are referring to the automatic transmission filter, it should be replaced whenever you change your transmission fluid. Just prepare for extra ATF and gasket for the oil pan. That job would require cleaning of the oil pan too, so aerosol cleaners would help.

    You have not changed the transmission fluid, 90 % is in the torque converter.

    Hello, my friend, how do I get the original filter for the transmission, and I want some spare tools? Do you know a shop or program that sells tools at reasonable competitive prices (e-marketing or stores that have delivery?) Thank you, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

      Hi! One of the first choice is that you can go to your nearest dealership for the original parts. Second is try searching in an online shopping site like Amazon, Ebay and more. Also, the parts for the Mazda is a bit difficult depending on the country. You could also try asking at your nearest auto stores for parts too.
