I'm a 6 year diesel mechanic, I've learned so much from just watching you videos Warren. Makes me want to get out of the shop into a service truck full time someday. You have taught me to actually diagnose and figure out the root problem and not throw parts at it until it works. Thanks for making videos!

    G'day Warren,,,
I knew you'd find the cause of the start issue pretty fast . So now you've repaired everything that others couldn't.
    Well done Warren ,,
you have every reason to be proud of the machine.
Moreover,, your son should be proud of his part in the rebuild too.
I really felt for you when you mentioned the holiday was a no go ,, you n the family sure deserve a break after all your hard work .
You could always get in there n cook up a possum ...!!!
    Great job Warren .
    Much Respect

There's just something about a inline 6 diesel that just get a guy right in the feels. From Cummins to cat and yes even john deer they just have at tone to them that can make a guy sleep good and have sweet dreams. 😁 great work Warren and Blake for another successful engine overhaul. Hopefully the rest of the grader works well and no more surprises

Many of the fuel solenoids used on the inline fuel pumps on the 3.9, 5.9, 8.3 were 3 wire solenoids. 1 ground, 1 intermitten power hold, 1 constant 12 volts hold. On start up the intermitten hold would draw in the solenoid allow the engine to start, then the constant hold would be used to continue to hold the solenoid in to allow running. Simple Murphy type wiring here. Allowing engine starting until the monitor system took control of the fuel delivery. Many times extended cranks were a system of a failed intermediate coil on the solenoid. Not saying this is the issue as you seem to have it running well but something to consider if the issue persists.

Check that o-ring behind the lock ring on that left front drive to see if its pitted or has rust around it
Those 24" motor grader rings aint expensive of it the oring make sure its the small 24"oring there is a big and s small ive changed a butt load of them things ...they can be changed without pulling the wheel its right behind the lock ring.
If its bad it wont hold air and can be a bitch to seat they love tire grease or mounting compound. Although you can use wheel bearing grease but its not recommended....just a former otr tire tech passing along a little info to help .....
