Even if this is a metal oriented video, i must say that you're right, i just hate how modern guitar mixing sounds, it has too much mids, so i usually prefer the older style of mixing, particularly, the 60's one and i also prefer a mid scooped amp like a "blackface" or "silverface" Fender or a vintage style Mesa Boogie over the typical options (Marshall, Blackstar, Orange and so on), because i love how a humbucker guitar could sound very crystalline and in your face in those amps, and also, they were the choice of most of my favourite guitar players (mostly psychedelic rock ones).
scooped mid give more Omfff punchy palmuty vibe it melt and mix and mingle with drum and bass more, it become more support than "in your face" i use more mid now and i kinda miss old scooped! agree agree mid lead no place if mid rytmn take all place, (same with too bassy guitar that take bassdrum and drum space!) and then vocal -_-.. its hell lol... screetching growl "hey i only got some high pitch treble left?)
"The guitar is a midrange instrument" is probably one of the dumbest guitar misconceptions you read on the internet. Midrange honk/quack is the biggest enemy of Metal tone. 500 Hz and 1.2 Khz are the main culprits. You absolutely do have to scoop mids. I have no idea how that got mixed up into its opposite.
Always thought this way but everyone said wtf bro guitar is all mid freqs don’t scoop. I’m like but all the best tones I like are scooped(fear factory, older Metallica, pantera, cannibal corpse etc.) but whatevs do like hodge twins say do whatever the fuck you wanna do lol
Yeah dude, like 95% of how-to vids (for anything music) are 99.9% useless. And most when they A/B their mixes to show how much better their spew is they sound exactly the same.
Bless you, sir!!! I thought I was f%$king crazy!!!
I scoop the mids on my hands. Like this🤘🤘
art lol
Preach!
Have you used Olas ir the one? I think it sounds awesome I put it on bass and guitar

Scooping away or scooping a bunch on top? I honestly had no idea until I paused the video and googled it.
