AI won't kill off artists but it will change the field, I think that the big thing that will be a determine who will and won't make it is composition, AI (of all kinds) struggles with coherency, it can understand what a supposed structure should be, but it struggles with creating their own, this in turn limits greatly what AI is capable of doing in terms of composition. A similar trend can be seen in art, AI has not killed commissioned art but instead it has transformed, requests are more specific, which means artists are charging more thus achieving an equivalence in profit. The reason for this is that because of the structural issues mentioned previously getting AI to produce a specific image is almost impossible, even with a multitude of revisions to the prompt, prompting over a generated result etc, because of this the demand for specific images has remained more or less unchanged, most artists have the transition from generalistic "here's the mood and themes, draw me something" to specific commissions. Composition is to music what specificity is to art, the one underlying aspect that requires understanding humans on an emotional level to be able to achieve good results.

A serious topic for sure. At this point I am annoyed by AI-generated pictures. It had its hype for a year or two and I assume it will be similar with AI-generated music.

I know this is serious because AI can really fuck with creators because of income as you said. Every view that an AI music video gets is one less view that a real musician gets, or one less purchase of an album. That part absolutely sucks. But I think that the best way to push back against this mess is to keep at it, keep making things, because, as someone who is inspired by music (and has used some of your music in the past during my livestreams) I'm not inspired by any kind of music. Most of the stuff out there is pretty boring and uninteresting. That's everything that AI can do, make more uninteresting shlop to add to the pile. I don't know what will happen, maybe art will lose value as a medium and it becomes only noise for the ears and eyes to consume. Or maybe instead the real artists will become more valuable by the communities because "in spite of being able to use AI" they choose not to because they love the medium and want to work hard for it. I don't know. But things are definitely not going to be the same. As an artist myself I feel your struggle deeply and I think what we have to do is to support each-other and to not give up.

I think showing us a few of those ai generated videos would be nice. Like breaking it down to show where all of the human disconnects are. Thanks and have a great day !

I linked a couple of them in the description. Might make a video breaking them down, good idea!

I write code for a job and often use AI for help with unfamiliar APIs. The APIs are basically glue to well solved functionality which would be a waste of my time to remake.
Copying is a hallmark of coding however and is part of the culture.
In music, as a layman or non musician, I can get more immediate entertainment out of prompting a music AI than I would making months of noise on real instruments.
That said, if I needed music for something that counted, I couldn't trust a robot to set the mood right and to keep in mind the rest of the soundtrack. I would know the robot didn't and couldn't feel anything even though I need a lot of emotion in a piece for a videogame final battle.

Well yeah, this stuff really is depressing. AI is slowly ruining everything for artists in general. We are just at the start of the downfall Im afraid.
