  • Hi Everyone,
Link to purchase the touch screen panel :
    corolla, camry, rav4: www.ebay.com/itm/164087376898
    tacoma, 4runner, highlander: www.ebay.com/itm/164334808146
Here's a video I made on how to replace the touch screen panel on 2014 toyota corolla entune radio. It's a lengthy video so I break it into 5 parts as below :
    Part 1 : Introduction 0.00.00
    Part 2 : Removing dash panel 0.00.57
Part 3 : Removing radio unit from dash 0.02.29
Part 4 : Replacing touch screen on radio 0.03.05
Part 5 : Reinstalling radio to dash 0.12.02

    Some notes from my experience:
    - Make sure when installing the digitizer, that the pins on the ribbon are facing DOWN towards the circuit board. The digitizer I received had a ribbon with bends in it similar to the existing one, but the bends were oriented in the opposite direction, causing me to install the digitizer backwards initially.
    - Be careful not to get fingerprints on the inside of the digitzer screen, or to wipe them off before installing!
Installation went smoothly other than the above issues. Thank you for the great video!

I almost did the same for the exact same reasons! Also make sure you keep the little rubber piece that acts like a spacer from the touch pad to the screen.

Few notes from my successful repair using this video.
    1. 10MM socket for the bolts
    2. Need to push the metal tabs in to separate screen from main box. Then push them out again once you have completed the replacement and are ready to reassemble.
    3. Not all the ribbon locks/braces open the same way. Some swing up and some slide out. If pulling up isn't working then slide.
    4. Always good idea to take photos of how it looked before disassembly.
Overall it is a quick and easy fix. Worked like a charm. Thank you for the video and parts. Cheers

Performed the swap today on my 2015 Corolla S. You need a 10mm socket wrench to remove the bolts. Most difficult part was loosening the tabs all around the unit to remove the face. The four small screws around the display circuit board are very tight and I stripped them somewhat getting them out and back in. Otherwise this was very simple and took less than 45 minutes. I was surprised by how easy the dashboard snapped back on... I contemplated this fix for over a year and now I wish I did it sooner. Thank you so much for making this available!

I did the screen swap today. Took me 1 hr just because I didn't have the right screwdriver size and when reinstalling everything, I didn't tighten the 4x screws for the screen tight enough so I had to remove from call and redo. Very happy now that the touch screen is functioning

One tip is your gonna need the smaller screwdriver set to get the screws when you get to the actual radio itself. starting with the 3 in the bottom. the screen clips can be annoying but they will come off. @JervisTan - Thanks for posting this video. I just fixed the touch screen in my daughter's 2015 Corolla S following your instructions. The only thing I might add is to double check all the ribbon connections while you are reassembling the radio, just to make sure the ribbons are seated securely. Check everything twice, install once. Or something like that. Anyway, you have done the Toyota community a great service by posting this detailed video. Cheers

OK, so the digitizer arrived yesterday and I decided to install it last night. Your video allowed me to complete the job in about 40 minutes, thank you! So, one piece of advice to anyone attempting this repair....two of the ribbon cables have notches on either edge that must fit up and over the pin pad before the latching bail is closed. My head unit didn't work the first time I plugged it in and found the cause to be one ribbon cable not seated. Apart from that, extremely easy. If I had to do one again, it would take 15 minutes. BTW, the screen that I received off your link was excellent.

This is a great video, thank you very much - helped me repair my touchscreen! However, you skipped over a couple of the most difficult/confusing parts - putting it back together!
Some things to watch out for when re-installing the screen:
The screen I ordered had glue on one side, and the black piece that goes around the edges doesn't exactly align. Also, after removing it from the original screen (which did not seem to have glue, for some reason) the black foam piece separated right away before I could note the exact way it was attached, and it was hard to remember which way the black piece went back on, as the 12-pin cable is not exactly in the center and for some reason the black thing has protrusions that overlap the edge of the screen. So I wasn't exactly sure how to line it up or which side of the screen was supposed to face front (the first time, I installed it backwards based on the way the cable was naturally bent, which for some reason was bent in the opposite direction of the original screen).
Luckily I realized before re-assembling the whole thing, based on the fact that the 12-pin ribbon cable is just slightly off center (a little to the left) so by putting the wrong side forward, the ribbon cable was slightly askew to the place where it plugged in on the circuit board. I then had to pop out the screen from the plastic frame and reverse it, then the cable lined up better, so I assumed that was the side that should face "out". But I did spend an extra 20 minutes or removing/reversing it based on the pin layouts and cable placements, carefully studying the screen and cable up close, trying to determine which was the right way to insert it into the plastic frame.
I also ended up getting the black foam a little crooked, and once it was affixed it couldn't be removed to be straightened (I would have had to buy another screen), but it worked anyway and didn't appear to be visible once installed. I don't know what that black foam piece does, but I assume it's important.... Would be helpful to see the right way to exactly line it up and affix it to the screen...and know what all the little cutouts are supposed to line up with.
Lastly, watch out as the screen scratches very easily - just holding up the old screen to compare, somehow I managed to put a small scratch in it with the corner of the other screen. Seems very sensitive to scratches so be extra careful!

I installed the screen, started putting it back together and the ribbon that actually hooks up the touch screen didn't want to go in all the way.. then I noticed it wasn't perfectly lined up and I thought I had read something about that in the comments. Came back, read your comment, pulled the screen, flipped it, and reinstalled it. Probably wasted like 10 minutes, instead of 40 lol. Thank you!

Great video. On my 2014 Corolla LE equipped with gps navigation and XM radio, things were a bit different.
On it, there is a module (xm/gps module?) mounted to the bottom of the radio that has three short jumper cables from itself to the main radio body. If you remove it, you will discover the access cover for the front panel connection does not exist. So, don’t bother removing it and read on. You can leave the jumper cables in place as well. This radio’s marked with Toyota PN 86100-02100.
To remove the front panel assembly, find 4 small phillips screws in a row along the panel bottom. Remove them. At that point, the front panel assembly is held on by just the black plastic latches. Starting at one end, lift them up while pushing the panel forward until you release the panel.
As you free the panel you will find a short flat cable that connects from the panel assembly to a connector in the main radio chassis. Flip up the latch on the main radio connector to free the cable.
Now, the front panel repair is same as in the video. My panel off eBay seller tom_autoparts is working perfectly.

Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately I’m not familiar with the Bluetooth problem. If I come across any video related to it. I’ll share it here.

I think it would be helpful to show how to release the ribbon around 7:30. It goes off camera and it was the only one i had trouble with.

good step by step instructions.... however, if my 2014 Corolla touchscreen is constantly rebooting would a screen replacement fix it?
If not what is the fix for the constant rebooting of my touchscreen radio?

i have not come across this constant rebooting problem before so i really cant say if replacing the touchscreen would help.
a constant rebooting could mean a hardware failure or a corrupted software that is hindering the radio to startup. i would suggest to start the troubleshooting with software and then move to hardware.

Jervis Tan ..... I took apart the touchscreen radio today this morning looking for any evidence of a burnt transistor, IC chip or capacitor. Measured the each capacity with my ESR meter and everything checked out ok.
I believe you maybe correct in the “corrupt software” issue creating the reboot issue.
There is a slot for a Micro Sd card, which is the map card that also maybe causing the reboot issue. Some people with the reboot issue have ordered a newly updated Micro Sd map card from EBay or Amazon and they claim this fixed the reboot issue.

Anyone know where to find replacement screws for the four holding the screen in? Like others, mine are mostly stripped now.

Well its more than a year later, is the screen you replaced working ok still? I would love to replace mine but i dont want to spend money only to have the new screen go bad. Thank you for the video as it will be very helpful to those of us needing to fix the problem.

Hey, great video. My head unit keeps rebooting. Do you know what would be causing that or how to fix it?

hi. similar to a pc, it could be a software or hardware problem. i would suggest to try a hard reset first. and if it doesn't work, try to take the radio unit out (unplug all the cables connecting to the radio) and plug it in back in after 1-2mins. see how it goes.

I noticed that the part says it will not work for navigation. Do you have a touch screen for the 86100-02101 radio with the screen plate No. 100150 ?
