    Great video. I replaced the digitizer today. The key things are: 10mm for the 4 bolts, you don't need to take the side brackets off, but it is easier, careful with the clips that hold the cables to the circuit board, the little doors swing open, then the ribbon comes out. Reverse slide the ribbon in, and then the little door closes snug and holds the ribbon in. Make sure you have a micro screw driver set, the screws damage easily. Take your time and take pictures of how it's set up, etc. So you can put it back together. BTW, Toyota quoted me $1000 to repair or $3000 to replace the unit. The trickiest part for me was the little ribbon doors. They break easily. I had to repair one, wasn't easy.

    Your breakdown was more than enough for me to do it myself. $20 on Amazon for the part and 30 minutes to do it. Size 0 and 00 screwdrivers helped avoid stripped screws.

    Some notes from my experience: - Make sure when installing the digitizer, that the pins on the ribbon are facing DOWN towards the circuit board. The digitizer I received had a ribbon with bends in it similar to the existing one, but the bends were oriented in the opposite direction, causing me to install the digitizer backwards initially. - Be careful not to get fingerprints on the inside of the digitzer screen, or to wipe them off before installing! Installation went smoothly other than the above issues. Thank you for the great video!

      I almost did the same for the exact same reasons! Also make sure you keep the little rubber piece that acts like a spacer from the touch pad to the screen.

    I did the screen swap today. Took me 1 hr just because I didn't have the right screwdriver size and when reinstalling everything, I didn't tighten the 4x screws for the screen tight enough so I had to remove from call and redo. Very happy now that the touch screen is functioning

    • @wiseman868
      @wiseman868 ปีที่แล้ว

      After tampering with it for a while I fixed it. The big ribbon attached to the screen, although it seems like it was in it wasn't and was very difficult to get all the way in (covering the first and almost second white line) maybe you don't have to disconnect that ribbon in the first place, probably the other people with blacked out screens had the same issue, thanks for the video

    Did this today, got the part off of Amazon $25. When I first put it back in it didn’t turn on at all. Took it back apart, stripped one of the screws, but I didn’t put one ribbon back in correctly. Put it back in and worked perfectly! No more dead bottom half!

I LOLED. I am so glad I found this video last night. Ordering the part today. Really hope this works or else I’m getting a new car lol

    Great video solved all my problems with a $25 screen from amazon. One tip is your gonna need the smaller screwdriver set to get the screws when you get to the actual radio itself. starting with the 3 in the bottom. the screen clips can be annoying but they will come off. THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO SAVED ME SOO MUCH $$$$ I DONT HAVE.

    Great video. On my 2014 Corolla LE equipped with gps navigation and XM radio, things were a bit different. On it, there is a module (xm/gps module?) mounted to the bottom of the radio that has three short jumper cables from itself to the main radio body. If you remove it, you will discover the access cover for the front panel connection does not exist. So, don’t bother removing it and read on. You can leave the jumper cables in place as well. This radio’s marked with Toyota PN 86100-02100. To remove the front panel assembly, find 4 small phillips screws in a row along the panel bottom. Remove them. At that point, the front panel assembly is held on by just the black plastic latches. Starting at one end, lift them up while pushing the panel forward until you release the panel. As you free the panel you will find a short flat cable that connects from the panel assembly to a connector in the main radio chassis. Flip up the latch on the main radio connector to free the cable. Now, the front panel repair is same as in the video. My panel off eBay seller tom_autoparts is working perfectly.

      Never mind! I'm a doofus lol I put a foam padding between the sensor and the screen. All fixed now! And working perfectly! Thank you so much for this! I don't have $1,000 to spend on a fix like this. The screen cost me $90! So definitely can't thank you enough!!!

      Did your volume button work when you had an issue with touch screen? I am driving 2016 Corolla S and having the similar issue. The up/down buttons on steering wheel are also not working. Just wonder if I replace the touch screen and all issues are gone.

    My Corolla 2016 runs into the similar problem today, but not only the touch is not working but also the volume button as well. Is it also related to the touch screen panel or do I need to replace other part?

  • @troublemaker3

    I followed the video, except my radio has the satellite radio module mounted under it. It turns out that I don’t have a small access port on the bottom of my radio. So I popped the front off and just manipulated the radio with the main cable still attached. $17 for the digitizer and now my radio works like when it was new. Thanks.
