The Independence Chevelle reminds me of Johnny Cash's Ragged Ol' Flag. "She's in good shape for the shape she's in!!" Our country needs this car and that song more than ever.

@@bosmerfromcanada3878 Maybe the women in your life are more car-savvy than mine. One of them considers anything with the littlest bit of rust to be "junk". But a lot of those types will spend a fortune on their cat, or handbags, or a closet full of shoes.
That car.. Man, it says a lot about this nation. Beat hell and back when you found her. Barely holding the body to the frame. Paint all worn, rusted and faded. Patch worked and abandoned she was still alive and waiting for someone to see her for what she was. What she could still be. And with a lot of love, know how and a hell of a lot of work; she's coming back stronger than ever before. That rust is still there. That paint might be faded and home made, but under that hood is a power unimaginable. She speaks freedom to the soul. Maybe some just see it as a project car. Maybe you do to. To me? That old worn Cheval is this great nation made manifest. Thanks for pouring what seems like all you have into her. You're an inspiration to everyone that sees the beauty and potential in all things rusted and forgotten.

Made me smile sounded like my 78 XC Ute first start way back in the 90s without the tech. My mate just like you but a lot quieter. Out in the bush in Australia. He built beautiful bikes, and Utes in his garage. I sprayed that Ute so I wouldn’t get pulled over for rust etc between VIC and AC, WA.☺️ A real bush Ute. Then when the engine died this dude turned up and that’s history. Nice work.

For the hood ,on the rear put like a spring shackle block under the stock mounting bolts this will raise the hood up a inch and as a plus will cool threw the rear of the hood
Just want to issue a sincere thank you from Me and the wifey (we are at 39 years together), and are from the midwest. My father retired from Ford Motor Company, but taught his kids to love anything that is American made! He told me that as long you take care of your stuff, it will take care of you!! Man when I saw how close the hood "almost fit"... I thought that they would bolt a spacer between the hinges and the hood, spacing up the entire back. Or the BFH for sure. Still looks great. Love the build.
I randomly just bought a cold case for my 67 impala as I had to replace the old one that was 78% mud. Didnt do any research on it first. Glad to hear that was the correct radjiator

Eugene's back yard repair tip for hood hole. Can take piece of 1/8 rubber line and split with razor blade. Makes awesome anti rub through molding on that hood hole. Fellow can even super glue ends together to make her one piece

When you came out with that tan paint I couldn't even imagine where you were going. But that "rust" thing was sheer artistic genius! I remember thinking what a fantastic, original idea to continue the theme you had going with the car. But those valve covers...man those valve covers!!!! I don't make a big deal about it, but I took the oath to 'protect and defend' the greatest founding document in the history of the earth, and when I saw the still shot of those valve covers I got goose bumps!!!! Thank you!!!

Love it! Had a idea about the hood hole. Cut out a half a cylinder shaped as a can, paint it blue with white lettering "Cold Snack" on it and weld it right over it to seal it up.

I had never had a set of Hooker headers. I have installed many sets in the past on alot of different cars and was always impressed. BUT when I got a set for my 1973 Z-28 they hit the frame in four places and same as yours right hand side pointed down and pointed to the out side. Then they didn't want to take them back. They were bought out by Holley POOR QUALITY. NEVER AGAIN. I think they still have the best carbs.
