Back in the 60's The British Army used to take on some automobile club over some serious cross country circuits which puts that course completely in the shade! Major Urquhart looks as though he may be of an age to remember it!
"When we look at eastern Europe, navigation skills are critical" Mate the Russians have been found to using 50 year old maps where most Ukrainian villages aren't even marked lmao As long as you aren't doing that I think we are cushdy.
maps are good for the report. however, on the 🗺️situation technology providing responsiveness within seconds, therefore is better to extinguish the fire or any sort of attack. printing and reading reports are invaluable for learning and developing after the mission. maps inefficiency: global timeline attacked @ infrastructures, where monopoly ☎️⛽🔚 damaged STEM communication, mismanaged identities overtook positions of report and delayed responses. About time they got rid of the antiquated landrover. Even farmers have started using more powerful and better 4 x 4's as work horses. The british army has some great vehicles at their command and would be better to use these to train off road exercises drivers. They even have drone off road vehicles to use to help soldiers get into places landrovers can't get so it's sad to watch our guys having to use those things.
Did the sas use kwakers or cagiva in desert storm? , ktm or huska's the way forward, or a prod here and there into the bellies of whitehall and make rise from the dead armstrong ccm's....like the phoenix from the ashes....
I loved doing this job..
Good training and good fun
I enjoyed these exercises. Great fun. Always good when us medics beat the RCT guys :)

And the hard bit is?....Sunday drive on a farm!
Yeah the offroad driving they showed is all very tame. With a Defender on mud tyres it's just not a challenge.
Great for the scout groups & ambulance exfil working in mud. How would a 72 ton M 1 tank 🤔 handle mud or sand?

Why didn't you profile the expert courses?
"reducing the reliance on technology to navigate has never been more important" ... meanwhile, the Royal Navy is getting rid of paper maps ... wtf ?!
their not? they are stored in our pouches as back up they are still there.

Plastics and fabrics are better for a marine environment. Ship's maps were parchment - leather.
