    The Triarii (plural)were really done dirty by Ermor. In Rome, the Triarrii *weren't* elderly, but they *were* the most experienced units of the entire army, held in reserve, and sent in if things were going to shit. They were *scary.*

      It's even worse when you play Conquest of Elysium and the Triarrii allow you to have 2 or 3 lines of attacks making you have a really awesome attack density.
      Though in Dom 5 they do have the job of sitting in the back with the commanders and doing nothing that they are 'famous' for in some historical writings.

    These guys and Ur are the front runners around turn 32 in a multiplayer game where I was saddled with R'lyeh. Ermor has leveraged blessed cavalry to carry them early, and now transitioned into legionaries blocking for increasingly growing evocation communions.
    All in all, I fear them a lot. Even with a research lead it's hard to think of how to leverage what I have into something that will effectively counter him on land.
    Glad you did one of these guide videos, they're excellent.

      lucky he didn't go for a buffed scale build, when you Buff up all ermors scales it becomes a unit production powerhouse, able to field over 300+ sized armies en mass, they can take losses all day and not worry.

    E/S path is extremely important, don't do a rainbow build without grabbing E2. And don't leave a rainbow with 10 pathcost with 25 unspent points even if you won't play it, that's just disgusting ;)
    If you don't grab a rainbow, you can try to brute force E2 and E/S through spectres, but that will cost you a lot of death gems.
    Spirit Sight/Elemental Resists/survivals are other potentially useful blesses which makes a decent sacred something you can add to your armies and makes shrouds interesting. Now, with the Lar you no longer need/want to grab N2 for thistle maces, but something could be said for grabbing moonvine bracelet. Another option is D4/5 (if it has hands or not) so you can make Wraith Lords and Liches without empowering first.

    very nice video on ermor. I always considered EA ermor unique in that they were IMO the "LA nation of the EA". YOu get decent quality standard troops you can spam reasonably well (haeustus are like tower guards with thier javliens standing in for xbow). Plus the fact you have a crap ton fo cheap communionable mages and another mage that is covering al ot of low but variety of paths just cements their LAisms. Hence I tend to look at EA ermor as benefiting well from a high scales and a few minor blesses while focusing mainly on a pretender to help set up their late game options. For all the glory of Ermor and their amazing paths they still lneed help breaking ingo High astral, high D, and High N which are all thinsg they shoudl consider. Fire is easy enough because you get D1F1 so I don't worrya bout that.
    Plus one other major thing unmentioned: Auger Elders with A1 random can cast wailing winds: the very very ery lovely morale breakign spell we all know and fear/love.
    I"m not sure about using gladiators as expansion parties though, how many troops are you losing per expansion? sinc ethey'll run aftetr one hit it just feels like you would amost half your party against a reasonably sized indie province.
    Finally I would say while awake is vaible in ermor, I woudl only take it if I greatly feared being rushed by another nation and didn't trust the gladiators to do the job.

    here is an idea I would have run with if I wanted to go max mini blesses along with designing End game paths useful to Ermor. the A4 for booster helmet and potential queen summon if very lucky. S7 for high astral/ringproduction/wish casting if feeling memy and plent yof useful smaller blesses. HIgh death for obvious reasons and because ermor can't easily reach that all pinnacle D5 unless very lucky on their augers and D6 will let the boi cast tatarian gate at the time. and B4 for blood surge because blood surge is always good.
    again it's a build all for that late game magic, Obviously this bone guy isn't coming out anytime soon, but ermor can reserach so efficentl and now that gladaitors are no longer dissapearing after just one battle (there were some really cheesy stuff in dom4 like sending in a scout first before storming an ermoring fort to disband any emergency gladiators: very cheap), I feel more comfortable taking a type of comfy build like this. Hell if you feel snaky you can run a cheeky Trinty build and still get some decent end game options while also unlocking a potential titan chassis for later fun times, like so:

      I've been experimenting with EA Ermor recently since I love their flexibility, and I agree with your analysis that scales seem the way to go. Your demilich build is pretty inspiring. I was struggling a bit with the bless for the Equite since I agree with GC that they're not really hell-bless worthy, but they deserve something as their such great units. I think Blood Surge in tandem with Swiftness is a great idea. It means they are basically guaranteed a powerful first strike with their lance.
      Where I think there may be room for improvement with the Demilich build is in dropping Astral and Death slightly. You can go with Dom6 A4, E5, S5, D5, B4. You still get Swiftness, Magic Weapons (important if Ubar or Therodos are present), Spirit Sight, Withering Weapons, Blood Surge, and then an earth blessing (I like F/S resist). The Divine Emperor is also a great chassis for the extra misc slots. You can use an Astral Cap and Coin to get to S7 and craft a Ring, then swap to a +Death Skull (or add a ring of Sorc) to summons Tarts. You also have access to high Earth, which is cool.
      I took Dom6, Order2, Prod2, Heat2, Mis2, and Magic0, and have 7 points left (28 for Demilich). The one area I could see room for improvement in is the Dominion. Since the Equite are so kickass, I'd like more than 6 a turn. Id consider dropping another scale to get more, but I'd have to think about where.
      Anyway, great post. Definitely inspired some theorycrafting.

      @@Onebasilisk3770 looking back now i ageee the low E hurts. whatever leverages your gold economy better. the high s was..designed for late game wishes but its still some thing still achievable. btw general reminder if you lean on the shrouds more to give that fire řešit or lean on astral spells like stellar or mind burn

    Lizards is awesome if you have heat scales and\or enemy with heat. Low morale easily negated with +2 from leader and +1 from few Standards. I like em, honestly.

      They also let you do Foul Vapors without killing your own troops. A Lar can cast it. And backed up by Lizards, Foul Vapors can deal with a lot of threats that otherwise Ermor would have problems with.

    Ermor gets a boatload of Astral gem income (capitol plus site searching). An Earth-random Flamen can then be empowered to E1S1 and forge Crystal Matrices themselves. As you can super-use cheap communions, you can then hand Crystal Matrices to your Flamens or Lars and cast any of the high-level battle spells you want. That lets you easily cast Frost Fend, Army of (Lead/Gold), Syllable of Sleep etc. Lars are expensive yet fragile in terms of Nature gems and you might not find many N sites. So I like to build enough Flamens to make sure I have backup units for all the paths, in case my Lars die.
    So really there's very little reason to not have Crystal Matrices for Ermor. You can even use a pretender if you balk at the cost of empowering a Flamen, but having *full access* to all schools of battle magic except blood is basically unheard of.
    Also Lars and Flamens are sacred so you can toss a Mage bless for them if you want.

      Ermor is spoiled for pretender choices. GC wasn't big on a death pretender, but you could easily go demilich with stygian flesh + fire/shock resist and 1 point of astral. S random Augur elder forges skullcap, and demilich can then make the matrix items (and crystal coin to get to S3 for teleport strats or give to elders to hit S4 for mind hunts). Also gives access to something Ermor usually lacks - thugs of their own. D5 demilich can easily summon wraith lords/liches or use skullface to hit D6 for well of misery, but this path setup would also allow you to spend those astral pearls on golems, who can magic phase attack with either readily available astral booster. You could also skip fire/shock resist since most mages don't benefit, but I like having some counterplay if someone shows up with early tbolt/tstrike spam or abysia etc.
      Stygian flesh is less impressive after early game but vs indies and in some early wars it makes the sacreds pretty beefy if you keep them away from barbs (just throw javelins at those).
      Maybe full scales is the best though, even if not the most exciting. Fast expansion is still very doable, the 22 damage trident can handle elites, and having money for infra/fast research is attractive. Harder to boost far up death but you can still spend those gems on useful things, and as you say one empower gets you some versatility.

      One more thing to add, the Lizard Auxiliares are actually super useful because they come with poison resistance, and Lars can cast foul vapors. Why spend nature gems poison resisting your entire troop force every time you want to cast it, when Lizard Auxilaries do it for free?

    the Virtue is NOT a good expander, the moment any sort of mage gets randomed in the virtue is done, I have tested it and it does not preform nearly as well as a Drakon or any of the normal expanders. Its ok, but, not great by any means.

      She is still a good SC chassis, just needs some late game equipment and works best on a nation with good sacreds (like MA marignon), take a nice bless and then dormant or imprisoned. But yeah not a good early expander

    I was playing EA Ulm, random map against the AI, and i had a quiet border with Ermor. Untill one day, without any kind of warning, they decided to attack. One province was taken with a single ungeared assassin doing some ludicrous shit. Basic human in a leather cuirass just walked in and slaughtered entire, admitedly small, province defence. The fuck?

    Two things I would disagree with though:
    Slingers can have a use in early age, especially since you get ease access to Flaming Arrows and a low popularity of hats. Massed slingers can do some work.
    Another thing is, I would really not go with a bless on the Equites. If Augurs were sacred, sure maybe. But with not sacred battle mages and no means of massing sacreds bless is a waste in my opinion. The only thing could be like a 1v1 game when you wanna rush curveball your opponent

      Equite are definitely strong enough to hold a bless; they're multi-attack sacreds with extremely high defense scores and pretty decent protection, especially considering the era. Yes, they're capital-only, and I wouldn't invest in a truly exceptional bless for them, but if you take an awake expander - which is obviously very viable - then you'll have a bless of some kind anyway, and even something cheap like +Strength or Blood Surge can make Equite of the Sacred Shroud pretty effective expanders.

      I guess. If Augurs were sacred to get this bit of reinvigoration from Blood Surge, or some prot from earth bless, sure. Like with Ys, yeah you get only cap only sacreds but you triple dip the bless on mages and thugs, then sure. But I mean if you take something for the expander or incidentally with a rainbow that could be helpful

      If you run a rainbow bless you can forge shrouds to give Elders stuff like spirit sight/resists/blood surge/reinvig - you can even toss in finesse.

      Sure but that costs pearls... All the point I'm making is that it is already kinda not much for your buck, if you add pearl cost and mage turn sunk into shrouds it's not looking better

      EA Ermor is an astral/death nation so you will probably end up spending pearls on pen items _anyway_ - consider something like a dormant demilich with E4S5D6N3B3. You get your hammers, crystal gear, high lvl S/D spells and forging plus enough N to get that going and an option to make blood items. Then you get a bless with something like Reinvig2 Arcane Finesse Spirit Sight Stygian Flesh 15 poison resist and either 3xHP or 3Str. Now you have some pretty good utility sacreds with heavy armor that mostly ignore foul vapors, are immune to darkness and somewhat resistant to rigor mortis. If you make a shroud instead of a spell focus you also give that to your mage, plus any Flamen you want to add to your armies has it automatically and since you forge crystal matrices you probably want to add some Flamen.
      Scales are still ok, Dom5 T1P1H3G3U2M3 according to the bless calculator. Awake expander or fullscales might be better overall but if you're going to not do those then something like this could work. Point is to have both high paths that you want/need for spells/items on your god that also gives you bless options that buff your Equite as well as giving your shrouds utility you can't easily forge otherwise.

      Just in case, you still need the information, first it's commander points. If the old guy needs, let's say 4 points, and you have 2, you will need 2 turns to recruit him. The manual says the commander points increase with fort upgrades. Have a look at it

      You can twiceborn them and have them die. The wight mages that come back all have the full paths you selected at creation.
