      What is the best SSD you can recommend?

    • @ACILearning
      @ACILearning  3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Hi Mary, Wes recommends this SSD for performance optimization www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/970evo/

    • @lbsiuk
      @lbsiuk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ACILearning The 970 Pro was until recently the world's fastest SSD. It has recently been superseded by the new 980 Pro, which will do some ridiculous 7 GB/s. It's unnecessary for most people though. Also the 970/980 are only available in M.2 form factors, which most older PCs with HDDs don't take.

    my best tip?
    upgrade to windows 10 PRO and turn off automatic updates by configuring a setting in group policy editor. say goodbye to restarts/updates at the worst possible moments. also, disable a bunch of tasks in task scheduler and set a bunch of services to manual in services. great for laptops to extend battery life and also to prevent random wakes so you dont find your laptop dead when you open it in class or find it extremely hot in your bag.

    • @ACILearning
      @ACILearning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you found the video helpful! If you have an SSD it is advisable to disable optimization as it will degrade the lifespan of the SSD or to put it another way, the optimizer will cause unnecessary writes to the SSD. SSD optimization should be done with vendor specific tools. Use the optimizer on HDDs only!

    • @ACILearning

      This usually means you have a trial copy of Windows and the evaluation period has expired. For lab machines and demos I usually do not bother with activation, however with any production Windows 10 or Window Server machine I will make sure that is licensed and activated according to the EULA and SKU. Here is additional information on how to properly activate Windows: support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/activate-windows-10-11305dbc-ef5d-1c08-3ba7-4c7a2cb8f404#:~:text=To%20activate%20Windows%2010%2C%20you,10%20should%20be%20activated%20automatically

      You should see a reduction of the amount of RAM being used if you are disabling unnecessary startup applications, even if it is a small amount. The GPU should only be it hard if you have an application that is graphics intensive.
