That moment when you think you are somewhat proficient at what you do just to stumble upon this TH-cam channel.... Holy hells... this is awesome! I need to start working with my own source material.... Keep up the brilliant work Noah!
Your generosity in sound design knows almost no bounds. Super inspired watching you work and also how open and thoughtful that you present your work. This must have taken many hours to create and unfortunately all I can offer is a thank you in return, but it's a big one, you're helping to raise the bar (quite high!).
I think I've watched this a couple of times now and it's just so impressive and generous. So much to learn from! Thank you for sharing, I'm off to borrow all your tricks! :)
This is incredible, thanks so much for sharing! Your reaper layout is pretty much exactly what I'm working towards as well, would love to learn how you set that up with the real-time master eq and stereo monitor.
Thanks! I did a little video on that a while ago, but I kinda moved thru it quickly. Lemme know if there are any details you want more info on! th-cam.com/video/hEsVB6_kwW0/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=NoahSitrin
Hey man really great tutorial video - could you drop a link to your other videos where you explain the MVocoder band split trick you reference at 5:45 ? curious to look into that some more if you have more videos explaining it
I realized after the fact that I kinda glossed over that trick, I’ll make a more detailed vid on that one. It’s essentially how you can use plugins like vocoders or denoisers to split the signal into a bunch of different freq bands and then apply dynamics processing to the bands for for warbly liquid textures
Very helpful and detailed! Still I'm curious about the settings of mvocoder. I followed every exact step of the plugin but it didn't really work out. I wonder if i was missing some steps.
Oh make sure you have the sidechain hooked up to inputs 1+2 as well. If you’re using reaper, hit that “2/4 in 2 out” button in the upper right of the plugin window to open the routing matrix, then hook your main inputs (1+2) to the sidechain channels (3+4 I think)
Always love watching these videos of yours, I end up learning a lot. I wanted to know, since you are using both Gullfoss and Soothe, what is your current use for each one in terms of sound design process. Is one more for recovery or to tame some elements than the other? They seem pretty similar to each others to me but I wonder if they would see any specific use to improve sounds that would loose a lot of frequencies (like when doing voice design with pitch down elements)
Super amazing and full of rich detail, thank you! Quick question, at around 5:24 or so, you play the rubber rain coat audio with the Melda Ratio MB, but it sounds like there's some EQ happening alongside it, since the highs are noticeably muted. In following along with my own audio and plugins, I can't quite replicate the sound at that point lol! Am I missing something as far as what else I can tweak in Melda? Thanks!
No other eq going on there, that's just MRatioMB on the noise/tonal setting w/ the noise ratio knob turned up, working its magic. That removes the noisy parts of the signal, which in this case is a lot of high-freq content. Kinda makes it sound garbled + muted, really depends on the source recording and how loud it is being driven into MRatioMB
Hey Noah, Absolutely love your content and this of course sounds amazing! ❤ I was curious to know the reason why you started with the source recordings that you did? All the nylon/paper stuff sounds incredible through whoosh and wondered if that was the reason?
Yeah I use varispeed stretch (not preserving pitch) 90% of the time, it is artifact free. The other modes can be cool if I want that artifacty sound, but that’s not too often
Hey - does anyone know how he has plugins, like the stereo analyser in the bottom left as a pane? My Reaper only allows Reaper panes like Media Explorer etc. Is it an extension, if so pls link :) Thanks in advance!
Yeah it’s a Doppler, so it does amplitude+pitch modulation like Traveler or Waves Doppler. The cool thing about whoosh is it also takes your 4 input files, granulizes them, and then blends between them before applying the Doppler
I usually build the FX chains 1 step at a time. So I add what I feel it needs at each step. Pro-L would be to make it louder, add punch, or control the peak level depending how it’s set
@@noahsitrin9823 Yeah, I was more so curious why you couldn't do this at the end of an FX chain instead of having one after say 3 or 4 effects on one audio clip and then another one at the end. But I'm guessing it's more so for when you're looking for that extra punch, as you were saying. I'm not bashing or anything, I think it all sounded great! Was just legitimately curious.

Hey thanks Matthew, this made my day!
It’s criminal how few views this has. I’ve learnt more form this than dozens of sound design tutorials combined. Awesome stuff!
honestly I'm watching this video at least once a week. I love it.
BRAVO
Wait! Now i'm pretending a video to understand you crazy well Reaper UI look!!! The spectrum analyzer on the side, the oscilloscope on top, Amazing!!!

Still one of my favorite video on youtube.
Awesome video, really detailed explanation of these awesome sounds. Great job!
This video popped up randomly in my recs. Great content, looking forward for more!
I relate hard to the layer 7 process, lol. Love it. Thanks for the inspiring video!
hahaha that's honestly how it goes sometimes
Laughing so hard at that. Good editting too 😂
So cool, I think you nailed the reference. These definitely feel like they belong in demon souls!
Super inspiring, thank you!!
Amazing stuff, Thanks so much, Your videos are making my source material level up sooooo hard!! Respect
Sounds like Thor's thunder breaking.
Thanks for sharing this, so many useful insights!
This is some really cool stuff. Thanks for sharing!
Just starting the video, wow that final result!!

inspiration video, perfect as always. thank you Noah

so many gems in here bro, bravo!
Thanks Joe! I was inspired to start making these from seeing your sick D2 breakdown

I like to use Gullfoss as more broad stroke balancing. Then Soothe specifically for reducing spiky high resonances
MAN PLEASE COME BACK

dude...Those sounds 0-o
Hi ! what is the classic trick haha that you used with saturn for the impact layer 9 (the one to get more lower frequencies)
Hey Noah,
Absolutely love your content and this of course sounds amazing! ❤
I was curious to know the reason why you started with the source recordings that you did? All the nylon/paper stuff sounds incredible through whoosh and wondered if that was the reason?
Cop out answer: mostly because I’ve done this before with similar source and gotten good results. Just need something noisy + textural
@@noahsitrin9823 Haha nice! Not a cop out at all :D Looking forward to more juicy sound nuggets from you in the future dude!
i tried so many times but i cant get the MratioMB sound like yours in layer 2 😭
Are you just using the default stretch without preserving pitch in Reaper? If so, have you done any experimentation with the different algorithms?
Yeah I use varispeed stretch (not preserving pitch) 90% of the time, it is artifact free. The other modes can be cool if I want that artifacty sound, but that’s not too often
Just one question 🙃" How did you make the saturn make that tremolator sound" 💀
Docking the vst's without fx chain... wut? Please how?

For personal stuff, I have a zoom H5MS and mic booster em258 pair
@@noahsitrin9823 Legend, thank you. 🙏🏼 Great video !
What does that Whoosh plugin do? I'm guessing it's doing some clever envelope+reverb+eq on the source material but it sounds super cool
Yeah it’s a Doppler, so it does amplitude+pitch modulation like Traveler or Waves Doppler. The cool thing about whoosh is it also takes your 4 input files, granulizes them, and then blends between them before applying the Doppler
What's the reasoning behind using multiple limiters on one effect?
I usually build the FX chains 1 step at a time. So I add what I feel it needs at each step. Pro-L would be to make it louder, add punch, or control the peak level depending how it’s set

Hey, quick question. What custom UI you use for MeldaPlugin ?
FModern, it’s pretty slick:
