      I'm pretty sure that question (which is a good one by the way) is answered in the books, even though I don't remember about it, it's been a while.
      It's known about their grog, that some kind of "beer" they would make, but when it comes to feeding, i think they were really pragmatic and ate voraciously, wherever they were and whatever it may be (meat from hunt, maybe fish) and I would guess some sort of nasty soup, made from vegetables/livestock that minor villages/cities from the east would pay in tribute to Sauron, besides the pillaging.
      For the Uruk from Saruman, I would say the same.
      Now, for which one had the better grog,.. well, that's a debate for another day! xD

      Saruman is a leftist, which is just another confirmation of the bad right-wing implications behind LotR. He supports the working class, suppressed ethnicities and races, styles himself Saruman the Many-Colored (rainbow...he mad Gandalf rejected him, so he literally fell for Sauron, now you also know what the implied relationship between him and Grima is). He pursued knowledge (which is of the Devil), while Gandalf pursued fate (=predestination, the will of the creator).
      Atleast Tolkien was aware that he created a monster. The redemption lies in the meta construct of the story. The Lord of the Rings is a story about destroying it, and so you must do!

      Part of it may have been his realization that the longer he waited, the more likely Sauron would suspect he was double-crossing him. In that he was right, as Sauron fairly quickly found out through agents and circumstances that his vassal was not as subservient as he made it out to be. The fact that at the Black Gate it’s revealed that if Sauron got what he wanted, the Mouth of Sauron would be installed as an overlord instead of Saruman says a lot.

      @kithranen1542 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

      @@WorldWar2freak94 Well said. It's easy to overlook the history of Sauron and only focus on his presence in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. But he has a massive background spanning thousands of years prior, as shown in the Silmarillion. He was Morgoth's right-hand as a werewolf for a time, before he got his ass kicked by Huan (good dog!).
      Then he was bound and imprisoned by the Numenoreans, but managed to sweet-talk his way into an advisory position to the king. He was directly responsible for the downfall of the strongest presence of Man in Middle-Earth during the second age.
      Obviously, he would have suspected Saruman's loyalty. Even though Saruman is a Maiar, same as Gandalf, the balrogs, and Sauron himself (albeit he was a 'gifted' Maiar). Knowing his own capabilities would have given him insight to his contemporaries.

    Unlike most Sauron or his generals, Saruman seems to take great pride in the orcs and even treats them better than most of their masters. The Uruks being his most prized creations behaved like an actual professional army rather a horde. I also seemed to notice that despite being a Wizard, Saruman also possessed a sense of warrior pride, judging from how the Uruks bear the white hand, which is very tribalistic in nature and even seemed to despise civility itself. His recruitment from the wild men from Dunland also seems to showcase this.

And really, Saruman just created a vastly superior fighting force to Sauron's orcs. Smaller yes, but better equipped, better trained, better disciplined, and just superior on a purely biological level. I can't see him sitting there with his army of Uruks becoming Sauron's crony.

      In the book Saurmans forces are laughable compared to Mordos might. So if you have that knowledge before you watch the movies it's not that obvious. Sauron is aware of Saurmans own goals before Frodo leaves the Shire, but he just keeps Saurman doing his dirty work in Rohan because Saruman is never a threat to him. You can read about it in Unfinished Tales. Though I think Sauron gets a bit nervous after Pippin looks in the palantir, since he sends a Nazgul to Isengard to see if Pippin is the hobbit that has the ring. (Sauron thought Saruman was using the palantir as a form of torment for the hobbit, forcing him to look in to it.)

      It's such an effective way of denying the Orcs any sympathy. By showing them born from vile pits that seem almost like grotesque parodies of wombs, they make it seem as if the industrializing Saruman is manufacturing them just as surely as he is his dam and his weapons. Since the Orcs were corrupted Elves, (and some have Men in their bloodlines as well, I believe) the canon explanation for Orc reproduction has them reproduce naturally through sex, but I rather prefer this depiction because it's so appropriately inorganic and perverse a birth for these evil creatures.

The Christopher Lee narration over the the village being pillaged and then throwing in the emotional investment with the two kids. bevan rogan white From Thain's Book:
      "Brego's second son Aldor became King. He was known as Aldor the Old, and he had the longest reign of any King of Rohan - 75 years from 2570 to 2645. Aldor drove out the last of the Dunlendings, who came to hate the Rohirrim. During Aldor's reign, the population of Rohan increased and the Rohirrim settled in the valleys of the White Mountains including Harrowdale. Aldor's son Frea was old when he became King and he ruled only 14 years until 2659. Frea was followed by his son Freawine, who in turn was succeeded by his son Goldwine. Rohan was peaceful and prosperous during this time. Deor, son of Goldwine, became king in 2699. During his reign, the Dunlendings began to raid the Westfold to steal horses. Many came across the River Isen, but it soon became apparent some Dunlendings had made settlements in the northern part of the Westfold near Fangorn and Isengard. In 2710, Deor led a force to the northern Westfold and defeated an army of Dunlendings. Deor proceeded to Isengard and found that it was occupied by Dunlendings. The stronghold belonged to Gondor, but over time the Gondorian chieftains who guarded it had died out and had been succeeded by chieftains of mixed blood who were friendly to the Dunlendings. The few remaining guards had been killed, and the Dunlendings occupied the Ring of Isengard. Deor sent to Gondor for aid, but no help could be spared. The Rohirrim did not have the resources to retake Isengard, so Deor set up a guard of Riders to keep watch in the northern Westfold. Deor was succeeded by his son Gram in 2718.Helm, son of Gram, became King of Rohan in 2741. Rohan was invaded by the Dunlendings during his reign. A Man of Rohan named Freca, who had Dunlendish blood, began to expand his own domain on the border between Rohan and Dunland in defiance of the King's rule. At a council meeting in 2754, Freca sought a marriage between his son Wulf and King Helm's daughter. Helm refused, and when Freca became enraged and insulted the King, Helm slew him with one blow from his mighty fist. Thus he became known as Helm Hammerhand.Freca's son Wulf led the Dunlendings to invade Rohan four years later in 2758. The Dunlendings were aided by the Corsairs, who had launched a massive assault against Gondor at the same time. Rohan was also invaded by enemies from the East. The Dunlendings overran Rohan and captured Edoras. Helm's son Haleth died defending the doors of Meduseld, and Wulf sat on the throne in the Golden Hall. Helm was driven back from the Crossings of the Isen to the stronghold in the Deeping-coomb that became known as Helm's Deep. Many other Rohirrim took refuge there and in other valleys of the White Mountains, including Harrowdale where Helm's nephew Frealaf defended the stronghold of Dunharrow. The Long Winter began in November of 2758 and lasted five months until March of 2759. The Rohirrim were starving and desperate, besieged in their strongholds. Helm's son Hama died on a sortie from Helm's Deep, and Helm himself froze to death on Helm's Dike. When spring came, Frealaf led a force from Dunharrow and reclaimed Edoras. Frealaf slew Wulf and the Rohirrim drove the Dunlendings out of Rohan. The melting snow caused flooding around the Mouths of the Entwash, and the invaders from the East withdrew. Gondor was at last able to send aid to Rohan. That same year Beren, the Steward of Gondor, gave the stronghold of Isengard to Saruman, believing that the Wizard's presence would help protect Rohan against invasion in the future.Frealaf, son of Helm's sister Hild, was the first of the Second Line of Kings of Rohan. Saruman attended his coronation and brought many gifts. Rohan began to slowly recover from the effects of the war and the Long Winter."

      Markus Nashorn The Dunlendings are in the wrong for serving Saruman, but they have legitimate grievances with the Rohirrim.

    0:45-0:55 the transition between Mordors theme and Isengard theme is super epic. Howard Shore is an absolute masterclass

    Saruman's monologue at the beginning shows how he's being led astray by his own megalomania and delusionally thinking he and Sauron are equals who will rule together. He ignored Gandalf's warning in Fellowship of the Ring that Sauron doesn't share power.
