I have a nissan juke 1.5 went out today car was warm. Got in to start the car and wouldn't start 3rd time it started And left eml on dash. Went home and plugged a cheap code reader in and cam up with glow plug. I removed the eml and took it for a blast on the motorway and nothing came back on hopfully I won't have to end up changing these glowplugs but really useful video. Thanks
Really appreciate this video. I just picked up a NV200 combi, 2011. I'm no stranger to changing spark plugs on a vw beetle, but this is a great video for something I've never worked on before. Should save me a few quid, cheers!
Well that looks like a really fun one to do 😄 Nissan's 🙄 I suppose you European guy's work on alot of these smaller diesels huh? Wobbles are the best investment EVVVVVVEEEERRRRR! Loved how you showed the after checks on glow plug good resistance 👏 Thanks for this video, I am on a TH-cam binge tonight 😄 Learning and watching!
Top work mate... Unfortunately not long ago I had 1 out of 4 injector tip decided to stay in the engine and literally pray every time I need to replace them 😬😊👍👍👍 cheers
Great vid! Thought I had an issue with the glowplugs - no fault codes. They all measured 0.6 ohms. Put the relay back in and ever since has been much better. It's almost as if there was resistance in the relay contacts and removing einsertinf the relay wiped the contacts.
Fault code in February to state glow plug issue. Run through diagnostic as outlined in this video and found 1 glow plug open circuit. Not too much of an issue as we're now heading into warmer weather but I will need to sort before next winter.
Hi I wonder if you could help me I took my nv200 to a garage and the replace the relay and the glow plugs but after I took it out the garage the Red and orange engine light is on at the same time and stays on is any idea why this is happening ? The garage is going to check The van in two days but they say doesn’t have anything to do with the job they done 🤔
Hi great video. Do you kno in what order the injectors sit from the timing belt side so i can code them. I have been told a few different orders so 1342 4321 and 1234 any help would be great my van is same 1.5dci 86bhp euro4. Thanks
Hi, pretty sure number 4 cylinder is timing belt end and number 1 cylinder is gearbox end. The diag tool normally talks you through the order to do them.
Automotive Solutions hi thanks that has to be the fastest response i have had on youtube much appreciated. I will have a go at coding the injectors i will keep this post updated👍🏽
Very useful and Informative, I want to know the reason behind failure of Glow Plugs specially of Renault 1.5 DCI. And Glow Plug Light Glow on the Meter Console always for the same timing approx 3 seconds irrespective of outside temperarure. Is this normal or should it Glow according to outside temperature. How much time should I wait before try to start the car after Glow Plug Lights went off. Is multiple pre heat using they ignition key on off 2 3 times recommended or not?
The 1.5 DCI seems to have more glow plug failures than some other vehicles. The computer controls the glow plugs depending on temperature and will pre heat them longer if is very cold. The glow plugs stay on after engine starts for a couple of minutes on most common rail diesel vehicles to assist with combustion and reduce emissions.
Many thanx for this video. Only took me 4 hours! But am no mechanic and a LARGE{ish} partr of that was finding my tackle. Surely under an NV200 bonnet there's room to make this job easier?
I would do the same as I did and touch the connector with the relay removed. Don't force anything into the connector or you may damage it. The large white and large black wires are the main power and earth.
@@Automotive_Solutions Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah my question was where to earth the black wire? Is anywhere on the engine block alright to do that?? Bit new to all this, but just bought a 2015 NV200 yesterday and this morning had trouble starting it up, so thought I'd try this.
@@empbass Just use a test light to confirm which wire is live and which is earth. I can't remember exactly but thought black was earth so better check first. Put one end of test light on battery positive and other end to black wire. Should light up if it black is the earth wire. You could use a headlight bulb between the large white and black wires to test they can carry current. If it's dim then you've got a problem. If in doubt get someone who knows what they're doing so you don't damage something 😧.
hello sir...i have a 2007 ford smax 1.8tdci....i suspect that the glow plugs are not functioning correctly...can you please help me locate the glow plug relay location and can you help me how to check/remove the glow plug fuse?...thanks
One of them will be controlled by the ecu to switch the relay on and the other is possibly a feedback wire to the ecu for fault detection. I'm not 100% sure as all the ones I've seen have been the glow plugs at fault. I would probably use an oscilloscope to see what they are doing. Good luck.
@@Automotive_Solutions thank you. Is it correct that I should see 12v when I first turn the key from cold and the glow plug indicator light comes on. I have 12v going into the relay but not coming out. And relay is new. Maybe I will pull the old one apart to see how it works.
My nissan nv200 has new glow plugs, new alternator, new battery, new first injector, new starter motor, new diesel filter.....STILL NOT START.....any clue .???...may be exhaust or fuel supply ...

good diag and repair. I do ohm check them before I fit them got caught ounce before some new its not new if you get me. proper diag test don't guess well done

Learning from each other. TH-cam is a tool in itself if you can avoid all the rubbish out there. Just takes up all your time 😜

Might be a stupid question but where is the correct place to connect/touch the black wire when you're checking the relay?

Great vid,ive generated a code from delphi that say 0380 it doesnt have a p in front of this would it be the same issue ?

Hi 👋 on my nv200 the glow plugs doesn't receive any power i change the relay but the same situation what can be .thanks
Check out the fuse and wiring.

Cheers Steve, enjoying your live streaming lately. 😜
The problem starts when I forgot the key in the ignition on for 12hours something is burnt.
Oh dear. The relay should of shut the glow plugs off.
do you think the glow plug relay the same location on 2012 Nissan Navara >> thanks for the good diag
- I think it's either on the right inner wing or in the under bonnet fuse box.

Be the glow plug control unit 👍
But it was the glow plugs 👌, as the tests showed. Control unit is a common failure as well but not on this one.
