Despite how ‘scary’ and ‘dark’ this movie was supposed to be, it was actually one of my favorite movies as a child. So to see once makes me really happy, and even happier to see that I’m not the only one who feels this way
Same! I first watched it when I was like 7yo. I was captivated. Couldn't take my eyes off of the screen the whole movie. Still my favorite movie. to. this. day.
I remember seeing a preview for this on the Coraline dvd years ago and thinking to myself “ I wanna watch that” it’s been like 8 years and I still haven’t seen it but I still wanna watch it
The older I've gotten, the more I realized how sad and depressing those movies truly are and that they aren't really that scary. N9ne was sad because it took place after the end of times for humans and a scientist puts his soul into 9 dolls (9 aspects of humanity.) For Coraline, it was sad because the mother manipulates children into thinking that their parents don't care about them and she traps their souls or something so that they can never leave.
9 and coralline are two of the best movies ever made , coraline is the better movie and Is creepier but 9s animation and story is better and I can’t describe how hyped I was when I saw 9s trailer for the first time when I heard welcome home as it showed them fighting the machines , literally covered in goosebumps best fucking trailer ever
As a kid, 9 really creeped me out and I was never tempted to watch it again. However, Coraline was always my favourite and I watched it over and over again. Until, my sister barfed in the car

9 was ahead of it's time This should have been a Netflix series if this released in the modern day the cult following for it would be massive. A horror adventure series based around the Apocolypse it's like something straight outta Warhammer 40K
I remember coming home from a family trip and we had a dvd player, we stopped in a Walmart on the drive home and found this in a dvd bin and bought it little did my parents know it was pg13 and I was like 8. But it was honestly one of the best movies I have ever watched. I recently just rewatched it (on the same dvd and dvd player). Still would recommend 10/10.
This movie is one of the greatest animated films I've ever. I watched it when it came out, and ive watched it ever since. It's got great action, drama, tension, horror, hope, loss and comfort. The animation is spectacular for 2009. Its soundtrack by Danny Elfman is nearly flawless. The actors they chose to voice them is perfect. I could not imagine it any other. 10 out of fucking 10. I would recommend this to anyone. And if you don't like it, I don't know what to tell you.
I'm so lucky to have been able to say that I got to experience this movie as a child when it was released. I remember the trailer coming on for other movies and it'd give me chills. The story, the characters, animation, style, fear, and music was a whole other experience.
I haven't watched this movie in years but oh my god I absolutely adored it as a kid. I still remember a lot from it because I watched it so often and it still holds a very special place in my heart today.
You don't see a lot of movies now that are so forthright about the evil nature of the human intellect, especially not in children's entertainment. Good that it made an impression on you. 9 seems like one of those movies that captivates you as a kid, but you don't really understand why until you're older, so you just chalk it up to the aesthetic.
I was scared of worst movies back when I was a kid. Unless you've seen shit like The Last King of Scotland, Blood Diamond or Trainspotting and actually understand the subject matter, then you have no idea what fear really is
Just finished watching this and I'm mind blown. This animated movie was a piece of art, an absolute masterpiece. I highly recommend it. Too bad it didn't get the credit it deserves.

This movie is amazing. Original, I love it so much. It was utterly terrifying as a kid and it still is. I’m turning 18 soon in a month, and this came out when I was 6? I believe. I will never get over this movie. Better than coralline that I watched millions of times. I remember seeing this trailer on the pre dvd ads before it started I believe. This actually got me secretly into metal too LOL. The end was so bitter sweet. The way the characters have to defeat this thing while learning to work together. The realistic fear of this happening in real life. The plot. The designs. I could go on for hours I love this movie so much I wish this movie would get back in the eyes of everyone
This movie has always felt like a fever dream for me as a kid I was terrified watching this but I loved it even though I was scared of it but it didn’t stopped me from watching it over and over again that’s basically my childhood but it’s underrated and that makes me really sad
I was so little when this movie came out and it scared the hell out of me at first, but I loved it. 11 years later, and this movie is still one of my all time favorites.
One of my favourite movies of all time. Doesn't matter if it's animated, it still brings the best feeling a movie could ever do. Its 80 minutes might seem short and not enough, but the movie and story itself is so incredibly well made, you'll be caught in front of the screen for 80 minutes. If anyone hasnt seen this yet, I highly recommend it. I watched it for the 2nd or 3rd time yesterday, and I still enjoyed it as much as the 1st time.
+21gCSGO My outlook on the story was - the 9 pieces of his soul were created to be merged in the machine "Brain" as the machine had the scientist's intellect, but lacked a human soul. The military wouldn't allow the scientist to transfer his soul, so he created the 9 ragdolls and then in a twisted misunderstanding, they destroy the machine (which they were supposed to merge with). If the machine absorbed all 9 parts, it'd have a human soul.
Gaurang Pednekar Do you mean the machine would then be harmless to all humans once it got the human soul? If so that was a quite smart move from the scientist. That, to me seems to be some alternative that most viewers didn't think of. The most common thought would be the scientist creating the 9 rag dolls to destroy the machine, and then "inhabit" the world once again once all threats were eliminated.
21gCSGO I meant that without the human soul, the machine is just a machine. It'll follow orders. With a soul, it'll follow it's own path. Maybe it'll be good, maybe it'll be evil. but that will be the path of machine itself, unlike now where it's path is the order given to it.
I find it funny how while there are untouched, preserved machine parts and war devices being spilt out of conveyor belts around it, the main machine just decides to pick through the rubble and to make machines out of dolls and fans and balloons and those things you blow fires with and animal skeletons.
Even though its been almost 5 years since its release, I still love this movie. all too often people look at the cover of the movie and say that its a stupid kids movie, when, yes, kids can watch it, but it gets extremely dark in some areas, and has more death and darkness in it than most major adult movies. Not to mention the music...OMG THE MUSIC
Tim burton has announced he's making a movie called "deep" which all we know right now, Is something that's supposed to be like 9 so it could be a sequel!
Here it is, the 10th anniversary. Shane Acker, if you can somehow read this, I want to wholeheartedly thank you for making this. It’s dreary, gothic world and mechanical monsters have been the epicenter of my mind since I was a kid. No other work of fiction has defined my life in the ways this has. Thank you. Sincerely, C
I remember seeing this trailer when I was a freshman in high school and I wanted to see this film so badly Now after seeing it a bunch of times, I can say this movie is way too underrated Also thanks to this trailer, I fully got into Coheed and Cambria
+krystal the flying wolf YEST THE FUCK I AM!! and let me tell you that i saw the trailer like once, then the song has popped in and out of my head for the past 6 fucking years, I am so happy to have finally stumbled back on this movie
I was 11 when this movie came out. I saw a movie with my family in the theatres with this trailer before it started, and fell in love. I begged my parents to take me to see it but they had no interest in it lol. Ended up forgetting about it after a long time. Now as an adult who actively loves and appreciates macabre/dark stuff, I think I need to finally give this movie a watch.
from Burton's scary and strange imagination come this perhaps underrated jewel, a dark story but with a great message to tell, that show that even the most devastated and hollow background, can exist a spark of hope to preserve the miracle of life.
Maybe not the whole song but in my opinion I think a clip would have been perfect when the factory has been destroyed and the big machine was walking towards the puppets out of the smoke.
That's because the trailer is way more focused on the action and dread of the world, the actual movie is creepy and more silent for a contrast, but still it is a great song and makes for an amazing trailer
I actually saw this film for the first time today. 9.9.19. Exactly ten years after its release. lol It's a sad movie, but the message is really beautiful. Incredibly well-made and underrated.
God this trailer brings back such nostalgia. I loved the inclusion of Welcome Home in this, i became with the band instantly. The film itself was awesome, like a dark dystopian steam punk. I remember it was out around the time of Coraline too and I fell in love with both
We need more animated films/shows for older audiences that take themselves seriously that aren't strictly anime. I don't know why Western adult cartoons have to all be trippy, crude, offensive comedies.
THE mighty KING there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s just that anime movies are allowed to take on adult themes, and be serious while still being for kids. Whereas western kids movies have fart jokes, flossing and are generally silly.
I remember watching this as a little kid. My parents got it because of it's usage of the Coheed and Cambria song. This is definitely one of my favorite movies now that I'm older and can understand it better.
I remember feeling uncomfortable watching this film as a kid. Years later, in 2014, I did a show and tell about why I love this movie (getting info about one of my classmates, Alessandra, being terrified of this film) and, as I look back at it, I find this film is a pretty underrated gem... despite me and my familly thinking it ended a bit too dark with the number of deaths happening.
I watched this film for the first time ever tonight. 11 years after it's release. It's incredibly unique, and was very good. Definitely ahead of it's time in a lot of ways. Definitely should watch.

It is welcome home!
Nah, that's literally the reason I looked this trailer up.
Im sure this was on netflix right??
@@Biokill yeah, it still is
@@engieworld3664 not for me
I can not believe this movie is over a decade old now. I remember watching this SO LONG AGO and I still watch it sometimes today. Probably one of the most underrated movies ever, fantastic movie!
One of the most underrated movies
I remember this being one of the previews in Coraline, holy shit this bring back memories
Oh my god, yes!
Oh yeah, it was. Yes it does.
I loved this movie as a child. I never had an nightmares about it, Same as coraline.
Both are dear to me.
I watched coraline when I was five and was fine with it lol
I was a hardcore kid
I watch it when I was 8=fine I watch it now as a 14 year old=toss and turn all week what happened to me bravery xD
I loved those movies too (-:
Kiara SaysHi Neither Coraline nor 9 scared me as a kid, but it sure did to my brother!
I could go on for hours I love this movie so much
I wish this movie would get back in the eyes of everyone
Never "got" Coraline. Always thought it was quite overrated. This, on the other hand, is a genuinely underappreciated gem.
This movie has always felt like a fever dream for me as a kid I was terrified watching this but I loved it even though I was scared of it but it didn’t stopped me from watching it over and over again that’s basically my childhood but it’s underrated and that makes me really sad
One of my favorite animated movies. Far too underrated.
Ikr
Yes!
I recall watching this as I child and it's so confusing how I remembered this all of a sudden
Omg same but I cant find it on netflix anymore😭
dang it's like... the whole movie popped into my head like it was blocked in my memories idk
many ppl here have the same "issue" lol
yes i never understood what this was about i just remember seeing those characters

I was so little when this movie came out and it scared the hell out of me at first, but I loved it. 11 years later, and this movie is still one of my all time favorites.
This movie made me so sad as a kid...so much hardship they went through
One of my favourite movies of all time.
It Looks Like A Piece Of Freakin' Art!
+21gCSGO My outlook on the story was -
the 9 pieces of his soul were created to be merged in the machine "Brain" as the machine had the scientist's intellect, but lacked a human soul.

This movie scared the fuck out of me as a child. But it will be in my heart..
By far one of the darkest things they showed us as kids, I love it
One of the best post apocalyptic movies ever. Best thing about it - the design for the robots/monsters

What movie is it?
Daniel Douglass its called 9
Yep
Tim burton has announced he's making a movie called "deep" which all we know right now, Is something that's supposed to be like 9 so it could be a sequel!

Too bad it's very underrated though. :/
It was alright.

Thank you.

Now after seeing it a bunch of times, I can say this movie is way too underrated
Also thanks to this trailer, I fully got into Coheed and Cambria

I was a freshman too watching this in the theater.
Same bro, also a freshman in Highschool when it came out. Lead me to discover my favorite band of all time!
This trailer also made me into a full-fledged C&C fan.

+xMechTechx the song is Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria. incase you still dont know the name
This movie and Coraline still give me the thrills whenever I watch them!
It reminds me of a trilogy about humans after the apocalipse and how the ones that survived were fusioned with the objects that werw touching.
It has been 9 years since the movie 9 was released September 9 2009

Yup Me too ❤️
I was 11 when this movie came out.
Still disappointed "Welcome Home" is NOWHERE in the movie
Corey Dusel I don’t think it would have fit in with the overall feel of the movie.

God this trailer brings back such nostalgia. I loved the inclusion of Welcome Home in this, i became with the band instantly. The film itself was awesome, like a dark dystopian steam punk. I remember it was out around the time of Coraline too and I fell in love with both
I just came here to see how Coheed and Cambria made this trailer better!

We need more animated films/shows for older audiences that take themselves seriously that aren't strictly anime. I don't know why Western adult cartoons have to all be trippy, crude, offensive comedies.
whats wrong with anime
@@MOcica-iy3we it's for borderline pedophiles that's what's wrong with it
@@GrimmReaper53320 Yea Grave of the fireflies really has that pedo feel to it.
This is the darkest movie I've ever saw and this is supposed to be pg 13...
Yeah but the darkness had a message behind it, a good message. And since there was no blood, foul language, or sex it only got pg-13.
Well it is Tim burton after all
