I watched a live stream of a youtuber who was in Thiruvanthapuram earlier this year and when he was in the city there was a traditional Kerala festival on and it seemed the whole city got involved so maybe Kochi is one of cities in Kerala that isn't holding on to its tradition while the other cities are. That's my guess anyway but Kerala has always been one of the few states in india that has had a large Christian population. The reason behind this is that St Thomas (Jesus's disciple) apparently arrived in Kerala and spread the religion there. My guess is that Kerala would have been on the world map back then because of all the spice trading that took place between the middle east and India.
If you come to north east someday, you'll see the same thing. Indian influence is slowly decreasing here. Assam still has a lot of it, but other parts like Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland etc are primarily Christian and Hindus are a minority now.

Often comparing and feeling prices today as high with respect to those in the past isn't an apples to apples comparison. The human mind might not take into consideration all factors and can be biased towards an earlier event when seen in retrospect. Maybe you are missing the point of these vlogs? These are supposed to be informative and we are giving our honest feedback from our years of experience. Also, we don't share your anxiety about whether we are biased towards earlier events. We speak freely and don't share those fears. We are free of those types of anxieties that spiritual people create for themselves in their own mind. If you have fallen for that then you have fallen for the "good" or "bad" illusion, the this or that. That is where the teaching of rambling at ease from Zhuangzi can help if you still have those anxieties. The undifferentiated consciousness doesn't dissect the world up into good or bad. When you progress on the spiritual path you go on living your ordinary life but with a deeper realization. The old Zen parable, "before enlightenment chopping wood carrying water, after enlightenment chopping wood carrying water." All in all, we are just giving honest feedback about our experience. It is not about satsang. We would just hope you found the video informative and didn't feel the need to turn a casual video into a spiritual teaching. Something you may have not considered is we are all rooted in the Atman, even though many are ignorant of that. We are all That and Jason's audience understands that well. His channel is for that. This channel is a travel channel sharing our ordinary life. My friendly advice is to not chop everything up into "right" and "wrong" according to your subjective view. Stick to the undifferentiated and life is grand, even speaking at ease about things that aren't that important.
