12 years ago one of my best friends committed suicide and I unfortunately I was the one who found him. This was one of our favorite groups to see together .. As I left the scene and began to drive home this was the song that randomly came on in my car on my CD player. It never had more meaning than at that moment. RIP Tim Silva
So sorry you lost your friend to suicide. I have been dealing with those demons now more than ever. Today, in fact. I needed to blast some of my YT tunes, & this song came on. I cried my eyes out. The shittiest feeling of loneliness a complete loser, and no one cares. Let the people you know, that you do care. It's so important for people to have that.
rcarrona If you feel that way about Steal This Album you are a true fan no question. I personally can’t listen to that album lol. I like every other project though.
Pickle Rick I understand...that was always the album they put out because it leaked...The material was a tad more haphazardly put together but the resonance of the material as well as an injection of a punk feel on some songs because they weren’t mixed as closely as others...each song had its own personality and that is what I enjoyed. That album is the soundtrack for sophomore year of college for me, sir or madame. And respect to your meta-name 😉 So...in short I guess I’m a true-blue-fan
That's the first time I've noticed the easter-egg of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here @1:19 The album art for "Wish" is two men in business suits, on the MGM back lot, shaking hands, and one of the men is on fire.
Hardly anyone does this one, I really appreciate someone reacting to it! When I was going through a very tough time I must of listened to this hundreds of times on repeat. To me this doesn't really fit with most of the SOAD catalog, but I love it regardless. Thank you!
I feel like this song is about death. Because death is the loneliest day of everybody's life. Its a day none of us will miss. Its a day you cant stand. glad for everyday you survive this inevitable doom that lingers all around you.
I’ve heard this song on the radio many times but I’ve never seen the video before. My first time seeing it I would say, The video shows ordinary people doing everyday things but no one notices that the world is on fire-like how no one notices how lonely and sad a person is when they go about their every day activities. Sometimes it feels like the whole world is on fire and nobody notices. That’s what the video feels like to me.
Love this, man! I've watched about 20 SOAD videos in the last two days, and I've not been disappointed yet! Every, single song is a beautiful piece of punk, rock, metal, Armenian/Middle-Eastern, poetic, meaningful art. Okay, that's a lot, but their musicianship is top-notch!!! Thank you for the reaction!
I’m gonna keep it real, I love seeing your musical journey. I’m a musician and I love seeing the love and appreciation for music outside of the top 40. Keep it real brother!
Thank you for taking the time to research what the band is trying to say thru this video. I subscribed because of this. System of a Down has always had very deep meaning within each song they write. You didn't let their stage presence sway you from digging deeper into their message. Not many will take the time to do that. I had the pleasure of seeing them in a rare concert performance a few years ago. The crowd was singing with our arms around each other, jumping around, laughing, and totally enjoying the experience. Go see them if you can. Life long fan.Rock on SOAD!!
If you want another great Ballad-esque one by SOaD, try out _Question!_ and _Soldier Side_ (the full song); They are super underrated and favorites of mine. And yes, your theory on _Lonely Day_ is right - it isn't about the "brother", but generally about us all as a whole, as you put it.
This is not just a song. It's a creative masterpiece with a message. This song is about a loved one passing away, feeling like no one is there for you even when you're in a room full of people, feeling like the world is burning down around you.
Bro have you ever be so sad and depressed that seems like the world is not even there it’s just like noise in the background I think that’s what they trying to say Because I know that’s how I feel when I was down in the hole😪🤘🏽💪🏽👏🏼🇲🇽
In general, "Lonely Day" is a simple song that does not have a lot of background behind it. The lyrics are simple and somewhat direct with little or no hidden meaning. It is about loneliness and how it takes a toll on you.
if youve never heard it, cliffs of dover by eric johnson is one of the happiest guitar songs in the world! extremely complex and melodic too. would love to see what you think!
You should do Faith No More: Falling to pieces, Epic, the gentle art of making enemies, midlife crisis, really anything from them. They influenced Tool, SOAD, etc. Love your videos my man
What if everyone we saw walking past fire were people feeling deeply lonely and depressed, as dangerous and obvious as fire, but no one is helping them fight or even noticing the fire at all? AND, you just said that very thing! Whoops. Love your channel!
Every time I watch you reaction videos it’s like watching me react to it like the first time I heard it... I think you would like Forest give it a try.
Ok ok loving it . see when I get to see your videos there are some songs I had forgotten or never heard . So keep doing what you doing Jamel. Next tine look for Last resort by papa roach
The video is talking about social isolation, and people being sufficiently tyrannised by the clock and depressed by overwork and whatnot, that they can't respond to each other, such that people could be ignoring fires in the street, and in a way, actually we do.
Wow, thank you, i never looked at the video of this song like that. All the fires meant something, of ones struggle & pain associated with mental health. but was just passed by, like it didn't really matter. This band is amazing, considered political at times. But they make you think about things going on around the world.
Jamal... when i was on the street wondering why for 14 years i had saw 100s of bomb squads, and fires and people who didnt even care to dial 9-11 coming through buying gas. Well at that time a guy sat next to me whom was a stranger to me. We talked a little. He said he was suicidal and couldnt stop drinking. I asked him why he hAD to stop and if he got vioent or drove when he drank. (I dont drink). I said i wasnt suicidal in fact i feel like i have a terminal illness anyway. He said he was going to rest a moment and head over to OPCC in S.M. for a meal after that. Moments later he fell asleep like he said, but then fell dead off thr bus bench. Paramedics revived him shortly but he went under again and they left taking him with and then a girl i never saw before or after suspiciously kicked over his beer can while trying to keep my attention off of his can by making eye contact with me. I immediately said Oh wow this is a system of a down song... i suddenly feel LONELY. I usually am alone but suddently felt truly LONELY. I was thinking about him today years later. Still feel like its cancer. Now im back at my family home. Still alone but not again no lonely. God bless..
You should check out the video "These Empty Walls" by Serj Tankian. He's the lead singer of S.O.A.D. It's a great song, and the video moved me to tears knowing what it's about. I think you'll appreciate it!
Love your work Jamal, it's very cool that a dude brought up im only assuming on RnB and Hip Hop and you listen to some of the music I was brought up on man it's a cool refreshing perspective and has me revisiting these tunes... If you're into lyrics and musical composition then TOOL is a band that many that aren't fans either become one or are left with more questions than answers 😂. I recommend the lyrical videos so you can I guess get an understanding of their music... Recommendations Schism, Parabol/Parabola, Aenema, 46 and 2, Eulogy...
It sounds familiar cause it was on the movie disturbing with shia labeouf where he is in house arrest and his neighbor is a killer also darron set them fires with his guitar shredding
Liked and subscribed I love this song first heard it in the movie disturbia lol at 3:07 just wondering if you could react to limp bizkit chocolate starfish and the hotdog flavour water
My favourite part is that you’re listening to SOAD and your TH-cam algorithm says hey “check out this song from Frozen 2”. Either you have kids or you’re e going to have to do a segment on what you usually listen to.

Daron Malakian the guitarist actually does the majority of the vocals on the last two albums Mezmerize/Hypnotize.
He also wrote most of the songs too so...
He's also wrote a bunch of songs that he's tried to get Serj to sing but so far no luck.
He also played the drums, bass and guitar in the recording.
He also has his own band and i freaking love it! Scars on Broadway if you have never heard it.
Mostly on hypnotize but not mesmerize
For my taste SOAD has never released a bad song...some better than others but I will never skip a system song.
