Great video. I have yet to play in frozen conditions like this but it sure looked brutal. I think being alone on a day like this could have done you in, but having a mate to play with, laugh with, get angry with at mutually difficult conditions, makes it a fun day despite the scores. Think of the memories you'll now have on one of your worst scoring days thanks to your mate being out there. Cheers
Nice Video Luke. You doing the graphics on the side is really helpful for us to understand where your shots went. Keep up the "quacks" and good "dance music" in future videos. It really helps round out all the great content you give us. Looking forward to all your future content.
I only started playing a few months ago, and winter golf is hard but rewarding. I've played a few frozen courses and I forget the chip shots and just keep them low and let them chase across the bumps. Trying to chip onto a green the ball will always bounce wildly or skip across the green so I try to avoid that if I can. But fair for getting out there and keeping going, I'm sure it'll make summer golf a breeze when the good stuff returns
Really enjoyed that. Played my very first couple of years of golf at Oulton Hall when it was a Muni course around 2005 ish. Was always nice to turn up not knowing which 18 was in use out of the 27 apart from getting an early start as a 2 ball and getting to the “10th” and finding a couple of 4 balls had just tee’d off assuming it was the 1st
The joys of UK winter golf, greens like concrete and rough like a rainforest, fair play for going on. The mindset has to be one of "I'm out playing and don't care what I score". On the plus side the score can be entered for handicap so a good cushion for the spring medals!👍👍🤣🤣
Tough round of golf there Luke, those conditions were pretty challenging, you still played good and had solid ballstriking, can’t wait for winter to be over to get back to playing as well. Thanks once again for the awesome content Luke, cheers mate.
Played on frozen course Sunday, the greens were white. On one downhill hole, I putt the ball from 160 yards, it worked ha! But greens were like concrete, the ball was bouncing 20ft+ high, so it was good practise for hitting the low shots short of the green to run on. Like your round, it was tough, but fun.
Played in similar conditions to that the other day. The ground had been frozen and then it warmed up and rained for a few days. So when I went out the ground was partially frozen and extremely wet. It was also only a few degrees above freezing that day. I ended up carding a 99 which was my highest score in 15 rounds.
Good stuff off the tees and long fairway shots. I played in the winter league one year and I was practising in the ice and snow during the week. Standing on the tee on a Saturday and they cancelled the round. I was raging. lol You will notice a big difference to your game when the better weather comes in. Well done. 👍
I played today and the greens were like an ice rink. I hit some really good shots that just trampolined off the green into the trees. Another shot literally hit a frozen piece of dirt and bounced 90 degrees right. Glad it wasn't just me having a hard time :D
Another great video and so good to see you subscribers increasing. I am not a huge fan of winter golf and our course makes us use mats, but I would rather still be out there playing
Mud Island is currently Frozen Island. Defrosting back to mud in the next few days. 😂 Always good to see local courses. You've not played mine yet though!
I hope I heard that wrong, they paid you $30 to play that course and not the other way around. It was nice to see Woody again and sorry about that Chipper biting the dust. Great to see you guys out there having fun in not so favorable conditions.
Tough conditions in the UK for golf atm. Well done for getting out there! I’m looking at documenting my rounds too and was wondering how you create your scorecards? Videos are great!
I haven’t read previous comments, but I think you need to club 1 down on your irons and that will help you. You have a good swing. It’s winter golf. Night and day difference. You F around and have fun. Good practice. 👍
Played recently in similar conditions in the northeast part of the states, my round was so bad if it was a boxing match they would have had to stop it! Great video keep them coming. RIP Woody's chipper :)
This is my first year of winter golf, and mud and ice really do hinder my game (which isn’t good yet anyway!) - probably won’t play much winter golf in future haha. Great video as always
Yeah, it isn’t worth it in the ice but don’t underestimate winter golf. Wayward shots stop rather than bound into trouble allowing you to go after shots, wet greens hold balls well and lift, clean and place rules give you decent lies. There are good scores to be had!
@@UpDownGolf yeah i could notice the difference right away. You are hitting the ball alot more accurate with it m8. Its not alot of fun on days like you had. I was out had the same experience a few days ago thd balls ended up like snowballs on the green😂
Glad I live beside a links course. Those conditions look tough. You topped quite a few. I think you’re lifting off the ball too much with your head. Your weight goes to the right I think . You end up hitting the ball on the up. Keeping more over the ball with your chest and head will eradicate most of them. Try and hold the turn until later in the swing and shorten your backswing if you need to. And I’ve always found setting up with the ball back a bit from normal is a good emergency fix on the course. A half or full ball back depending on how bad you’re topping it.
Hope Woody left the Chipr shaft in the hole as a ‘flag’ for those behind you! You have to take winter golf here in the UK as just better than nothing….😂
Got a texas scramble Tournament 26rh of Feb in the northwest (Skem). Would you be up for entering a team.?. Its to make a noise over the closure of our municipal course..

Disgraceful condition for a £30 winter fee! Last time I played Oulton it was a jungle a couple of paces off the fairway too. Club seems in a bit of disarray to me. You should head to the coast and play some links this time of year. Similar prices with food usually and nicely drained courses.
How is it they let you play golf if the greens are frozen, in my area of Texas they shut down if it’s below freezing. Most of the nicer golf courses have tarps that they cover the greens with . I was told if you walk on frozen greens it will kill the grass.

Well played that drive of yours is beautiful now👍love your videos and i have respect for you playing in that type of weather well done👏

Well done for persevering Luke. The duffed chip in on 18 was well earned.

Great video, cracked me up. But don't think even my first round of golf I was 30 over par, but worst this winter (so far) was 14 over.
That's good going man
12:30 sneaky sneaky
Very sneaky

Broken Record Time: Pitching wedge!...count back on how many chips you left short.

Very entertaining round, we’ll done!
Thanks man!
instead of chipping and running when conditions are like this its best use the 60 deg wedge and flop it as near to the hole as you can
Or as my 60 deg likes to do... blade and run

Roll on spring, when you don’t need a torch and 4 layers if you’ve got the first tee time 😂
Haha too right Ross
Y have you changed to ur 60 for chipping.
I did this round to reduce the amount of roll on these terrible greens
I’m surprised you still play in this weather and conditions. The greens are literally like ice rinks and as hard as concrete
It wasn't this bad last winter, we must have got lucky
Should have banged the chipper shaft in as the pin. Then asked for a refund for the green fee to contribute towards the chipper replacement.
Hahaha brilliant idea James!

thankfully the 18th didn't have a massive tree branch instead of a pin XD
Ahh man, have you ever seen anything like it!
Not great golf in winter but better than nothing

Wait, why are we complaining about a winter/frozen course. Most courses wouldn’t even open since it can kill the grass you walk on.
I wish it had closed

Golf in our winter season SUCKS. May be moving to Florida for retirement. I must say, the greens on all the UK videos I want look un-kept.

@@UpDownGolf are they any good come summer? or wrecked from the abuse in winter
It’s very average in the summer. Probably because as you say they are wrecked from the winter
I would have asked for a partial refund, that’s awful with missing flags

The people running that course should be ashamed for charging golfers to play it. In America we call that kind of course a real goat ranch.
It's probably not good enough for the goats
All the gear no idea.
