If you have plenty of time to stress test each core separately (selecting both threads of a single core in Prime95), select "Per core" instead of "All cores" in Curve Optimizer. It was necessary for me because for example one of the cores is stable at -17, but another only at -4. Very good video!!
With PBO2, you want your two best cores (checkable in Ryzen master) of the main CCD have the least minus voltage applied, for the best single core performance. There's always a sweetspot (-6 and -8 for my 5900X for example), then do the rest of the first CCD cores with batches of two (like -10/-10 for 3rd and 4th best, -12/-12 for 5th and 6th, etc.). If you have a second CCD, you can do an equal curve there of -15 or -20 for all 6/8 cores. These have brought me the best results so far - increasing/decreasing the two best cores' voltage there will always drop performance.
hydra, ctr, and boostmaestro are an useful tool to see real cppc rating of cores, the pbo magnitude if will follow them. Most of ryzen 9 do all the way full -30 on second ccd. Keep in mind that increasing Fmax lowers pbo2 magnitude and adds clock stretching(difference from multiplier clocks and effective clocks). Pbo2 instabilites on multicore are from the worst cores, if they are instable you gonna crash on multicore. Pbo2 gives the best with working always on a per core tuning. LLC,C-states,Smt ecc. everything affect pbo2, the best is to leave everything stock and play with pbo2. Remember that bioses newer than 1.2.0.3 have a bug that cut max vcore to 1.425v. Most of R9 works best on Fmax +0 to +50, personally i prefer all the way just pbo2 on +0. Pbo2 stability is only on single core, SSE instructions gives less voltage at same frequency compared to AVX/SHA ecc, test only on SSE. You can also see the apicid of the core that crashed on Event Viewer and shift only his pbo2 magnitude.
PBO2 helped me to keep my 5800X air cooled under control during that super hot summer, using lower value of ppt tdc edc (120-80-110) i lose like 2-3% multicore performance, gain 2-3% single core performance and loverd my cpu temp a lot, i add a negative curve of -20 all core execpt best 2 core at -5 to the limit and lowered even the global power usage!

I looked through the video very briefly and I mostly agree with your recommended voltages, they seem reasonable enough. Although I wouldn't push the SoC voltage to 1.2V, or even past 1.15. Most memory controllers will see no benefit from this, unless we are talking about 4000g/5000g processors. In this case increasing the SoC voltage even up to 1.25V may prove beneficial for both integrated graphics and infinity fabric. My ryzen 3600 is paired with a 3600mhz kit (OC'ed to 3800), IF is set to 1900mhz, and the SoC voltage is around 1.1V. There is no point in pushing further because I know that the IMC can't handle frequencies above 1900mhz. My memory (patriot viper 2x8gb) and mobo (gigabyte x570s UD) are more than capable. Who knows, maybe it's time to switch to r7 5800x😅
1.13v is pretty standard and I did say that 1.15-1.18v is usually for Ryzen 5000 series at 4000Mhz RAM clocks. They won't have issues with those voltages as the substrate used is different from the Ryzen 3000 series so the SOC can take more voltage :D
@@benuten3907 The amount of RAM is not the issue. My cpu can't handle memory above 3800mhz, unless I switch to 1:2 mode, which is pointless. I also tested the 4x8gb mode, and the limit is 3600mhz, increasing the SoC voltage to 1.175v did nothing. I know for sure that I can push my memory to 4000mhz with a decent 5000 series cpu. But even now, 3800 is very good for any 3000 series cpu.
@@hardware_maniac depends on IMC..with my 5900x (have had 2 samples already) needs atleast 1.1875v on bios to get stable on 2x16GB 3800 CL14..on my 5600G 4400mhz cl16 is easy peasy with 1.22v SOC..
@@benuten3907 well, 4000 and 5000g processors have much better IMC's in comparison to their normal counterparts. I saw some 5700g benchmarks with a 4533mhz memory. They also don't suffer from low write speed, it's always on par with read and copy.

There is only thing that should be added. Typed in values are not always same as actual values. Software voltage readings and multi-meter reading at the back of the board can have high differences as well...
I found your previous video for 5600x which was good to orient myself in BIOS, the sad thing was curve optimizer all core caused boot failure, so I had to use -10 on the best 2 cores shown by Ryzen Master, but the others handle -30.

Hi, i change my 3600 for a 5700x. You already help me a lot in commentary for the overclocking of my 3600🙏🏻. I do the curve optimizer for my new 5700X , more easy. I win 5° in idle for the same temperature in game (about 60°and 90W) with cooler master H212 ventirad. I put 100 for the "max cpu boost clock override " and 25 for "magnitude". I test 20 min in OCCT and it is OK . 30 for "magnitude " made restart my computer. I got 15134 points in cinebench R23 (maximum 76° in 10 min of test). I got 4750 Mhz with nearly 1,23 V in charge. I think the system is really stable, i have the same result as a 5800x stock. So for gaming, I win... 0 FPS!!!🤷🏻♂️ But it is normal because i play in 1440p🤣. I am just happy my CPU is optimized without more temperature! Thanks a lot!
I test your prime95 and 25 for magnitude is too high. 23 of magnitude look good after 20 min of prime95 (about 84° max). I am not loose in benchmark! I cannot use prime95 8 hours, I am more stressed than my CPU when is hot long time like this 😆

8:15 on my ASUS TRX40-E Gaming motherboard (for Zen 2 Threadrippers), lower Load Line Calibration level means less aggressive. It's best to first check the manual or on the internet before setting this because it can overvolt the CPU if the level is set too aggressive or conversely, undervolt it and you system will become unstable under load.
Have my Ryzen 5600G OC to 4.0Ghz with an RTX 3070. I followed the instructions of a video that Brian from Tech Yes City uploaded... Haven't tried curve optimizer or Precision Boost Over Drive... However, in gaming the performance gains are almost unnoticeable. I will try this anyways, thanks Fabio.
I really have to say I disagree with prime95, but when you say over half an hour, that kind of makes sense, but temperature doesn't do you any favours, obviously depending on your cooling. Hey hey Mark. Temps are higher because the load is absurd, that's why it is the "true" stressing software. If that passes, anything else will pass. I saw people with lots of "stable" overclocks that would pass CB runs for hours and in some particular games would cause stutters, guess why? Yeap, because they weren't 100% stable and they would crash in Prime95 in a matters of minutes...
Very true there, but I think that's more of a cooling issue, that's why I think prime95 is overkill, then again there are far worse stress testing programs, I'm just happy if my pc only crashes every 6 months or so, I can deal with that, I prefer overclocking without actually using stress testing (actual software especially for it), my ram is happy at 3800 cl14 (originally 3733 cl17) cjr, it ran for 2 hours in memtest, then had an error, that doesn't bother me one bit 🙂
@@Markknightexeter All stress tests should be way over any normal task, that's why they're stress tests, they're to eliminate any possibility of instability.
On my R5 1600 i used aida 64 as stres test and it showed all green as OC was good, but when i play games it crashed sometimes. Then i checked out with OCCT and it failed stres test. Since then i'm using OCCT. Although i didn't OC now my R7 5800x, couse my power supply didn't came with that extra 4 pin cable so i don't wanna damage anything wiht OC and my cooler probably isn't great for OCing this CPU.
@@RGMUFC1 Those extra 4 pins are for liquid cooling (to get 315w) and I doubt that you'll ever reach 235w (which is the power provided by the 8pin EPS12V) of power draw on that CPU even if you overclock it really hard
nice was having a bit of trouble with my oc had to go back a few versions on my bios for the better oc interface this vid helped a lot on the latest bios with the cut down ui my max oc i could get at 1.38v was 3.9ghz stable on my r7 2700 after going back to a bit earlier bios got my oc to 4ghz at 1.3v stable running at 65-70c under load got a 9975 in cinabench 23 soooo close to 10k lol cheers man keep up the good work
What works best for me so far to test stability (in other words what shows instability the fastest and most reliable): for memory OC: TestMem5 for infinity fabric: prime95 large FFT for CPU core OC or UV: prime95 small FFT So instead of running prime95 blend all and waiting for it to cycle to the tests that test the component that you OCed, it's faster if you run the specific test mentioned above to stress the component you OCed
Been running my 3600 at 4.32Ghz and 1.28v for awhile now. 3200mhz, and 1600 IF. Temps hit 72°C in Aida64 with a 240aio, mid 30s°C at idle, mid 50s°C when gaming
@@AncientGameplays Took your advice and started using Prime95 for stress testing. Turned it down to 4.2ghz and managed a stable 1.19v. Temps hit only 74C during Prime 95 testing =) Love your content, cant wait for the new vids when the new Ryzens come out
Thanks for the help. With your short video, it explains very well. With Prime95, I can only overclock my R5 3600X to 4.35 GHz. Above on that it fails my 5th core. Previously without Prime95 and using Cinebench 24 it can pushed to 4.45 GHz. Thanks again.

I'm leaving the 4790K 4.8GHz 1.38v to a 5700X, and had no idea what those -AMD- abbreviations meant and even less what they do, on top of that, there's Asus throwing random names to things that already have a name. So, founding someone explaining and not just saying to "Put Level 3/Go to Digi+/Don't mess with PPT/Use PBO..." is amazing. Again, I'm coming from Intel, have no clue about the names.
much needed and very informed video thanks bro! All 5000 series are differnt btw i can get curve to 28 no lower or it crashes. Cinebench is a good benchmark for the curve optimizer aswell i noticed it alway's crashes in cinebench if it's unstable.
Thanks man! Btw, Cinebench was and never will be a good stability test, it would be "okay" at least as 90% of tests that pass on CB will fail on Prime95. Also, is not just all 5000 series that are different, all CPUs, GPUs and RAM are, its due to binning

Hey Fabio, awesome guide! It's one of the best I ever watched. Well, the only aspect I am having issues is related to the RAM OC. I set all carefully and step by step and then test them with the recommended tools. So, frequently they past all the tests pretty well (many hrs and no errors). It seems everything is okay and stable, but it does not 🤣 When I turn off the POWER Supply, the PC sometimes does not boot correctly and the BIOS returns to the factory values. I try many values, and one day works one, but later it doesn't. Change to another "stable one", but days/weeks later turns unisntable. This is very tricky for me 😂🤧

So for anyone that wants curve optimizer its way simpler to do it through ryzen master althought it takes a little loner but its literally 3 clicks and it does everything for you my cpu run cooler and made a small increase in performance i have a ryzen 5 5600x also i have a rtx 3060 and if you follow his 3060 overclock guide its really good and a good combo
Ryzen Master's Auto curve optimizer is not accurate. You still need to stress test yourself. For me it recommended -18 on one core but I needed to reduce it all the way down to -10 to get it stable, because prime95 small FFT crashed with the values that Ryzen Master found.
few things i don't agree on your overclock guide for ryzen 5000, 1-pbo2 set on motherboard, this is why boost 100-250 is matter. play with tdc edc ppt to get more all core clock. 2-voltage are always better with offset mode than static mode. 3-curve optimizer do less bsod if set per core and get better performance

That's far from an ideal way to use PBO2/CO. You want per core, not all cores handle the same voltage, the better cores needs an smaller magnitude, the others can use a higher magnitude. Also PBO limits "motherboard" is the worst option, mobo limits are something like 300,300,300 so just allowing the ramp up to whatever the CPU wants, setting to manual allows to fine tuning voltage, temps and power you want in your CPU.... Every other option seems well explained.
Thanks, at least my notherboard does its job very well, hence why I said "IF you have a good motherboard". Per core is an option like i presented, it just isn't as easy since you need to do a lot more testing to find your good cores or bad cores, or use some software for that
Nice video. I had a 2700 and just upgraded to 5600. My 2700 was on 3.8Ghz 1.275v and my 5600 is 4.5Ghz 1.25v. Im getting about 80fps more in Fortnite which is cpu intensive. I did my test overclocks with Ryzen master and R23, but dont really see the point in testing for hours with other programs to see if its stable because if a game crashes ill know to up the voltage a bit

Well, I have a Ryzen 5 5600, and I managed to get a -30 stable curve optimiser. In stock my CPU max power is 77 watts, and with -30, it is still the same 77 watts. Why? My power should decrease and get lower temps, but I get the same power and same temps.
My 2700x is still going, but I feel like it’s slowing down a bit. When it was new it was an editing machine but now It’s very sluggish. I’ve been running stock settings ever since I got it so maybe I should try a small OC.
It might be software you have installed over time that is slowing down Windows. I would try formatting the Windows drive and then reinstalling Windows from scratch to see if the performance improves. Of course, first back up all important information from your Windows drive before doing this!
But how much is it worth? Cuz when Ryzen became public it was all about Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) and Extended Frequency Range XFR to make overclocking unecessary.
@@AncientGameplays i have run over 16 hours of testmem5 anta extreme/1usmus combined and 2 hours OCCT mem test and 1 hour large data, cinebemchR23 3 runs and many hours of gaming but this only happens randomly while idle opening a program or app so now i have lowered to +150 and -8 CO It does sound like a Curve Optimizer curse right? btw thanks for replying

Hello from Los Angeles CA Just curious if you have any content on the R9 5900X ? I was able to upgrade on this Amazon Prime day for a very good price but the CPU is running alot hotter then my R5 5600X but I can't get curve optimizer stable at negative 20 I checked all the cores for errors on OCCT . Not sure what to do to get a stable clock and lower temps . I have a Small case Fractal Ridge and it's load temperature is 90c 91c so Yea. I did manage to get undervolt 1.2 and 4000frequency very stable but still don't get the lower temps Im looks for any advice ?
Well, usually any motherboard like a B450 and B550 and even more from MSI will do it. If you want you can select manually and introduce values like 110/80/110 or 120/90/120 for max perf. It just happens that since I had a good motherboard, putting these values or the motherboard option would lead to the same results :D
I have a Ryzen 5 5600 with Sapphire Pulse RX 6700 and 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz CL16 on an MSI B450M BAZOOKA PLUS running on a 1080p 144Hz monitor. Would you recommend overclocking CPU, GPU and RAM or not? Btw I recently upgraded to R5 5600 and RX 6700. Mobo and RAM are from my previous build with R5 2600 and RX 590 Nitro+ SE.
Fabio, I tried 2 options (5 5600x): 1) increasing CPU ratio, so freq. is permanent 4750 MHz always, even when idle. 2) Doing with curve optimizer - so freq. is up to 4750/4850 during work (depending on overclock values) and 3675 MHz while comp is idle. Which way is better and safer - stable permanent frequency 4750 or always jumping 3675-4850?
Both are better unless you're pushing crazy voltages. To push 4750 on all cores you must have a VERY good die or you're pushing too much voltage, OR it simply isn't stable
5900x Rig strix b550-f gaming Rm750x 750 gold psu 32 gb 3200 mhz Cl16 18 18 ripjaws v k2 gsk. The best cores of both ccds are at -19 while the rest are at -22 Max boost in single core is 4.940 to 50, using r23 getting 1622 single core. Multi core is at 90c getting 4.450 or 4.500 and getting 22668 score. Cooler is a noctua nh d15 black with 3 intake fans, 3 outake fans above and 1 outake fan at the back, all at max speed. Did i do good ?? 🤔
Fabio, I specifically want to add a CAP/ROOF for my R7 3700X. Kind of like how it can be made possible for my Rx 7600 right now. Cap/ROOF the voltage to a max amount and in loads, in idle, if the voltage needs to be low then it can be so, but max I want to set the voltage to 1.3v for my CPU and within that 1.3v voltage, however high clocks my CPU can reach, it will do so. Can you teach us how to do it?

after the bios of current 5000 cpu's pbo2.0 curve optimizer settings are done do you also run the ryzen master in the comptuer software or do not use the curve optimizer with the program in windows to get the speed to run and perform ??
Man your bios is completely different to mine. Makes it really hard to follow but I think I managed it. But I get 2 fps less in AC Valhalla with it on a 5800 comparing to manually overclock to 4500Mhz. Maybe the temps are better though.

I have gigabyte aorus b550 elite ax. My bios looks much different then I have seen on yours or any others really. Going to give the curve optimizer a shot. I’m hoping it will bring my cpu temps down to low 60s from 68-72. Are you running stock cooler on your 5600x? I see even stock you’re at about 47c. Way cooler than mine. Not sure if different game makes a difference.

My MSI B450 Mortar Max has horrible vdroop (around 0.06v) even at level 1 cpu llc, I have to set my Ryzen 2700 @ over 1.4v just to get decent overclocks. The one I'm comfortable using now is 3.925Ghz @ 1.3125v (1.250v under prime95 load). I'd like to push it more but I'm quite nervous pushing it to 1.4v lol.

I always get slightly concerned with LLC, especially without decent watercooling, mainly due to the differentiation with different motherboard manufacturers. Now I just stick with pbo, due to the cost in electricity now, sad times 😡😔
I'd actually be interested in what you think about 1usmus's software, I now think it's a bit rubbish, although it can give you an easy baseline, although I haven't used his newer software with zen 3, I'll give it a go in the future though.

@@Markknightexeter CTR has never, ever produced a stable OC for me. It'll pass basic Cinebench runs but anything remotely harder to run causes issues with stability. It's 100% not prime/OCCT/IBT stable.
Hello Fabio, I'm back, in my B550 Gigabyte and R3 3300X I have the settings: Core Clock=4.4Ghz, Core Voltage=1.25v, PBO=disabled, Core Perf Boost=Auto and Global C-states=Auto. And well, it has worked for me to maintain good performance and keep temperatures under control (65/69 degrees in games, 37/39 in idle). Would it be advisable to disable Core Perf Boost and Global C-states to round out these settings?? Thank you in advance and as always we are aware of your work, Greetings!!!
An interesting thing happened to me with RoG Strix B450F Gaming. For me its the opposite with PBO2, the options in AMD Overclocking dont work except CO option, the rest i need to do it from AI Tweaker. This happens on the latest BIOS with Ryzen 5700X. Nothing that i change in AMD Overclocking menu works.
I like manual OC my Ryzen 7 2700 daily driver since allcore is so low out of box, its easy to getting 15-20% more all core freq when needed by doing a quick bios load heh

If you have plenty of time to stress test each core separately (selecting both threads of a single core in Prime95), select "Per core" instead of "All cores" in Curve Optimizer. It was necessary for me because for example one of the cores is stable at -17, but another only at -4. Very good video!!

With PBO2, you want your two best cores (checkable in Ryzen master) of the main CCD have the least minus voltage applied, for the best single core performance. There's always a sweetspot (-6 and -8 for my 5900X for example), then do the rest of the first CCD cores with batches of two (like -10/-10 for 3rd and 4th best, -12/-12 for 5th and 6th, etc.). If you have a second CCD, you can do an equal curve there of -15 or -20 for all 6/8 cores. These have brought me the best results so far - increasing/decreasing the two best cores' voltage there will always drop performance.
That's also an option indeed.
the best overclocking of the 5th generation of ryzens - through PBO
hydra, ctr, and boostmaestro are an useful tool to see real cppc rating of cores, the pbo magnitude if will follow them. Most of ryzen 9 do all the way full -30 on second ccd. Keep in mind that increasing Fmax lowers pbo2 magnitude and adds clock stretching(difference from multiplier clocks and effective clocks). Pbo2 instabilites on multicore are from the worst cores, if they are instable you gonna crash on multicore. Pbo2 gives the best with working always on a per core tuning. LLC,C-states,Smt ecc. everything affect pbo2, the best is to leave everything stock and play with pbo2. Remember that bioses newer than 1.2.0.3 have a bug that cut max vcore to 1.425v. Most of R9 works best on Fmax +0 to +50, personally i prefer all the way just pbo2 on +0. Pbo2 stability is only on single core, SSE instructions gives less voltage at same frequency compared to AVX/SHA ecc, test only on SSE. You can also see the apicid of the core that crashed on Event Viewer and shift only his pbo2 magnitude.
I gave it a shot but i lost performance in single core by going from my minus 19 on my best cores to around minus 8 on my 5900x.

PBO2 helped me to keep my 5800X air cooled under control during that super hot summer, using lower value of ppt tdc edc (120-80-110) i lose like 2-3% multicore performance, gain 2-3% single core performance and loverd my cpu temp a lot, i add a negative curve of -20 all core execpt best 2 core at -5 to the limit and lowered even the global power usage!

I looked through the video very briefly and I mostly agree with your recommended voltages, they seem reasonable enough. Although I wouldn't push the SoC voltage to 1.2V, or even past 1.15. Most memory controllers will see no benefit from this, unless we are talking about 4000g/5000g processors. In this case increasing the SoC voltage even up to 1.25V may prove beneficial for both integrated graphics and infinity fabric. My ryzen 3600 is paired with a 3600mhz kit (OC'ed to 3800), IF is set to 1900mhz, and the SoC voltage is around 1.1V. There is no point in pushing further because I know that the IMC can't handle frequencies above 1900mhz. My memory (patriot viper 2x8gb) and mobo (gigabyte x570s UD) are more than capable. Who knows, maybe it's time to switch to r7 5800x😅
1.13v is pretty standard and I did say that 1.15-1.18v is usually for Ryzen 5000 series at 4000Mhz RAM clocks. They won't have issues with those voltages as the substrate used is different from the Ryzen 3000 series so the SOC can take more voltage :D
2x8gb is easy peasy for the IMC..if you are using a 2x16gb (dual rank) or a 4x8gb config that's were you might need to use a tad higher SOC voltage..
@@benuten3907 The amount of RAM is not the issue. My cpu can't handle memory above 3800mhz, unless I switch to 1:2 mode, which is pointless. I also tested the 4x8gb mode, and the limit is 3600mhz, increasing the SoC voltage to 1.175v did nothing. I know for sure that I can push my memory to 4000mhz with a decent 5000 series cpu. But even now, 3800 is very good for any 3000 series cpu.
@@hardware_maniac depends on IMC..with my 5900x (have had 2 samples already) needs atleast 1.1875v on bios to get stable on 2x16GB 3800 CL14..on my 5600G 4400mhz cl16 is easy peasy with 1.22v SOC..
@@benuten3907 well, 4000 and 5000g processors have much better IMC's in comparison to their normal counterparts. I saw some 5700g benchmarks with a 4533mhz memory. They also don't suffer from low write speed, it's always on par with read and copy.

I found your previous video for 5600x which was good to orient myself in BIOS, the sad thing was curve optimizer all core caused boot failure, so I had to use -10 on the best 2 cores shown by Ryzen Master, but the others handle -30.

Hi, i change my 3600 for a 5700x. You already help me a lot in commentary for the overclocking of my 3600🙏🏻. I do the curve optimizer for my new 5700X , more easy. I win 5° in idle for the same temperature in game (about 60°and 90W) with cooler master H212 ventirad.
I put 100 for the "max cpu boost clock override " and 25 for "magnitude".
I test 20 min in OCCT and it is OK . 30 for "magnitude " made restart my computer.
I got 15134 points in cinebench R23 (maximum 76° in 10 min of test). I got 4750 Mhz with nearly 1,23 V in charge.
I think the system is really stable, i have the same result as a 5800x stock.
So for gaming, I win... 0 FPS!!!🤷🏻♂️ But it is normal because i play in 1440p🤣. I am just happy my CPU is optimized without more temperature!

I test your prime95 and 25 for magnitude is too high. 23 of magnitude look good after 20 min of prime95 (about 84° max). I am not loose in benchmark! I cannot use prime95 8 hours, I am more stressed than my CPU when is hot long time like this 😆

8:15 on my ASUS TRX40-E Gaming motherboard (for Zen 2 Threadrippers), lower Load Line Calibration level means less aggressive. It's best to first check the manual or on the internet before setting this because it can overvolt the CPU if the level is set too aggressive or conversely, undervolt it and you system will become unstable under load.

Have my Ryzen 5600G OC to 4.0Ghz with an RTX 3070. I followed the instructions of a video that Brian from Tech Yes City uploaded... Haven't tried curve optimizer or Precision Boost Over Drive... However, in gaming the performance gains are almost unnoticeable. I will try this anyways, thanks Fabio.

I really have to say I disagree with prime95, but when you say over half an hour, that kind of makes sense, but temperature doesn't do you any favours, obviously depending on your cooling. Hey hey Mark. Temps are higher because the load is absurd, that's why it is the "true" stressing software. If that passes, anything else will pass. I saw people with lots of "stable" overclocks that would pass CB runs for hours and in some particular games would cause stutters, guess why? Yeap, because they weren't 100% stable and they would crash in Prime95 in a matters of minutes...
Very true there, but I think that's more of a cooling issue, that's why I think prime95 is overkill, then again there are far worse stress testing programs, I'm just happy if my pc only crashes every 6 months or so, I can deal with that, I prefer overclocking without actually using stress testing (actual software especially for it), my ram is happy at 3800 cl14 (originally 3733 cl17) cjr, it ran for 2 hours in memtest, then had an error, that doesn't bother me one bit 🙂

On my R5 1600 i used aida 64 as stres test and it showed all green as OC was good, but when i play games it crashed sometimes. Then i checked out with OCCT and it failed stres test. Since then i'm using OCCT. Although i didn't OC now my R7 5800x, couse my power supply didn't came with that extra 4 pin cable so i don't wanna damage anything wiht OC and my cooler probably isn't great for OCing this CPU.
@@RGMUFC1 Those extra 4 pins are for liquid cooling (to get 315w) and I doubt that you'll ever reach 235w (which is the power provided by the 8pin EPS12V) of power draw on that CPU even if you overclock it really hard
nice was having a bit of trouble with my oc had to go back a few versions on my bios for the better oc interface this vid helped a lot on the latest bios with the cut down ui my max oc i could get at 1.38v was 3.9ghz stable on my r7 2700 after going back to a bit earlier bios got my oc to 4ghz at 1.3v stable running at 65-70c under load got a 9975 in cinabench 23 soooo close to 10k lol cheers man keep up the good work

What works best for me so far to test stability (in other words what shows instability the fastest and most reliable):
for memory OC: TestMem5
for infinity fabric: prime95 large FFT
for CPU core OC or UV: prime95 small FFT
So instead of running prime95 blend all and waiting for it to cycle to the tests that test the component that you OCed, it's faster if you run the specific test mentioned above to stress the component you OCed

Been running my 3600 at 4.32Ghz and 1.28v for awhile now.
3200mhz, and 1600 IF.
Temps hit 72°C in Aida64 with a 240aio, mid 30s°C at idle, mid 50s°C when gaming
That's nice, but AIDA 64 is good for many thing, but stress testing isn't one of them
@@AncientGameplays Took your advice and started using Prime95 for stress testing. Turned it down to 4.2ghz and managed a stable 1.19v. Temps hit only 74C during Prime 95 testing =) Love your content, cant wait for the new vids when the new Ryzens come out
Thanks for the help. With your short video, it explains very well. With Prime95, I can only overclock my R5 3600X to 4.35 GHz. Above on that it fails my 5th core. Previously without Prime95 and using Cinebench 24 it can pushed to 4.45 GHz. Thanks again.

I'm leaving the 4790K 4.8GHz 1.38v to a 5700X, and had no idea what those -AMD- abbreviations meant and even less what they do, on top of that, there's Asus throwing random names to things that already have a name. So, founding someone explaining and not just saying to "Put Level 3/Go to Digi+/Don't mess with PPT/Use PBO..." is amazing. Again, I'm coming from Intel, have no clue about the names.

much needed and very informed video thanks bro! All 5000 series are differnt btw i can get curve to 28 no lower or it crashes. Cinebench is a good benchmark for the curve optimizer aswell i noticed it alway's crashes in cinebench if it's unstable.

Also, is not just all 5000 series that are different, all CPUs, GPUs and RAM are, its due to binning

Well, the only aspect I am having issues is related to the RAM OC.
I set all carefully and step by step and then test them with the recommended tools. So, frequently they past all the tests pretty well (many hrs and no errors). It seems everything is okay and stable, but it does not 🤣
When I turn off the POWER Supply, the PC sometimes does not boot correctly and the BIOS returns to the factory values.
I try many values, and one day works one, but later it doesn't. Change to another "stable one", but days/weeks later turns unisntable.
This is very tricky for me 😂🤧

Both my cpu and gpu temperatures run at around 55+ never go past 65
Ryzen Master's Auto curve optimizer is not accurate.
You still need to stress test yourself. For me it recommended -18 on one core but I needed to reduce it all the way down to -10 to get it stable, because prime95 small FFT crashed with the values that Ryzen Master found.
Be sure to disable C-State it helps with CO.
C states is good with CO as it decreases frequency and voltage when not needed

few things i don't agree on your overclock guide for ryzen 5000, 1-pbo2 set on motherboard, this is why boost 100-250 is matter. play with tdc edc ppt to get more all core clock. 2-voltage are always better with offset mode than static mode. 3-curve optimizer do less bsod if set per core and get better performance

On motherbored bios on the path amd CBS /NBIO it is on there for both soc voltage and GFX voltage for vega igpu
That's far from an ideal way to use PBO2/CO.
You want per core, not all cores handle the same voltage, the better cores needs an smaller magnitude, the others can use a higher magnitude.
Also PBO limits "motherboard" is the worst option, mobo limits are something like 300,300,300 so just allowing the ramp up to whatever the CPU wants, setting to manual allows to fine tuning voltage, temps and power you want in your CPU.... Every other option seems well explained.
Thanks, at least my notherboard does its job very well, hence why I said "IF you have a good motherboard". Per core is an option like i presented, it just isn't as easy since you need to do a lot more testing to find your good cores or bad cores, or use some software for that

Nice video. I had a 2700 and just upgraded to 5600. My 2700 was on 3.8Ghz 1.275v and my 5600 is 4.5Ghz 1.25v. Im getting about 80fps more in Fortnite which is cpu intensive. I did my test overclocks with Ryzen master and R23, but dont really see the point in testing for hours with other programs to see if its stable because if a game crashes ill know to up the voltage a bit

Well, I would try 4.5GHz or 4.6GHz at around 1.22v. With a golden sample it would be possible and temps would still be pretty low :D

Well, I have a Ryzen 5 5600, and I managed to get a -30 stable curve optimiser. In stock my CPU max power is 77 watts, and with -30, it is still the same 77 watts. Why?
My power should decrease and get lower temps, but I get the same power and same temps.
If you apply CO it will use lower voltages for the same clocks, in your case the clocks are higher for sure

My 2700x is still going, but I feel like it’s slowing down a bit. When it was new it was an editing machine but now It’s very sluggish. I’ve been running stock settings ever since I got it so maybe I should try a small OC.
That CPU would indeed benefit from a manual OC
It might be software you have installed over time that is slowing down Windows. I would try formatting the Windows drive and then reinstalling Windows from scratch to see if the performance improves. Of course, first back up all important information from your Windows drive before doing this!
Run it on cinebench 23 and compare your multi core score to others with same speed. It'll give you an idea if your cpu is genuinely failing

But how much is it worth? Cuz when Ryzen became public it was all about Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) and Extended Frequency Range XFR to make overclocking unecessary.
XFR was for the First generation only. Also, I do explain that in the video
7700x with PBO +200 CO -10 and medium boostit seems to sometimes (pretty rare) restart the pc when i open a program or something.
What do you suggest?
I suggest you tweak numbers are you're obviously very unstable if that happens
@@AncientGameplays i have run over 16 hours of testmem5 anta extreme/1usmus combined and 2 hours OCCT mem test and 1 hour large data, cinebemchR23 3 runs and many hours of gaming but this only happens randomly while idle opening a program or app so now i have lowered to +150 and -8 CO

@@GoldenEagle0007 hey, cb23 and memtest5 are useless for pbo testing. Use p95 for cpu testing, the thing wjth Curve is that idle is usually what fails, not under load

Hello from Los Angeles CA Just curious if you have any content on the R9 5900X ? I was able to upgrade on this Amazon Prime day for a very good price but the CPU is running alot hotter then my R5 5600X but I can't get curve optimizer stable at negative 20 I checked all the cores for errors on OCCT . Not sure what to do to get a stable clock and lower temps . I have a Small case Fractal Ridge and it's load temperature is 90c 91c so Yea. I did manage to get undervolt 1.2 and 4000frequency very stable but still don't get the lower temps Im looks for any advice ?
So, how do you know if your motherboard is "good enough," to use the motherboard option in curve optimizer?
Well, usually any motherboard like a B450 and B550 and even more from MSI will do it. If you want you can select manually and introduce values like 110/80/110 or 120/90/120 for max perf.
It just happens that since I had a good motherboard, putting these values or the motherboard option would lead to the same results :D
I have a Ryzen 5 5600 with Sapphire Pulse RX 6700 and 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz CL16 on an MSI B450M BAZOOKA PLUS running on a 1080p 144Hz monitor. Would you recommend overclocking CPU, GPU and RAM or not? Btw I recently upgraded to R5 5600 and RX 6700. Mobo and RAM are from my previous build with R5 2600 and RX 590 Nitro+ SE.
No need at all, your cpu is more that enough, that ram though can be tweaked

Fabio, I tried 2 options (5 5600x): 1) increasing CPU ratio, so freq. is permanent 4750 MHz always, even when idle. 2) Doing with curve optimizer - so freq. is up to 4750/4850 during work (depending on overclock values) and 3675 MHz while comp is idle. Which way is better and safer - stable permanent frequency 4750 or always jumping 3675-4850?
Both are better unless you're pushing crazy voltages. To push 4750 on all cores you must have a VERY good die or you're pushing too much voltage, OR it simply isn't stable

The best cores of both ccds are at -19 while the rest are at -22
Max boost in single core is 4.940 to 50, using r23 getting 1622 single core.
Multi core is at 90c getting 4.450 or 4.500 and getting 22668 score.
Cooler is a noctua nh d15 black with 3 intake fans, 3 outake fans above and 1 outake fan at the back, all at max speed.

Fabio, I specifically want to add a CAP/ROOF for my R7 3700X. Kind of like how it can be made possible for my Rx 7600 right now. Cap/ROOF the voltage to a max amount and in loads, in idle, if the voltage needs to be low then it can be so, but max I want to set the voltage to 1.3v for my CPU and within that 1.3v voltage, however high clocks my CPU can reach, it will do so. Can you teach us how to do it?
I don't know if we can do that exactly, but I do use static OC in most of my 7000 series CPUs

Mainly what caught my eye for the Zen 2 OC is a far cry 4 game play with rx 6600xt and some zen 2 cpu. After static OC on the clock, the frame rates were so much more stable! Just increase tbe mbps of the stream. The big difference in between streaming image is usually on lower mbps values, just increase them

after the bios of current 5000 cpu's pbo2.0 curve optimizer settings are done do you also run the ryzen master in the comptuer software or do not use the curve optimizer with the program in windows to get the speed to run and perform ??
Man your bios is completely different to mine. Makes it really hard to follow but I think I managed it. But I get 2 fps less in AC Valhalla with it on a 5800 comparing to manually overclock to 4500Mhz. Maybe the temps are better though.
2 fps is inside the margin of error, but temps and power draw are also important :D
in some game you may have more perf, like CS:GO and some others
good thing abt efficient proc is that they have large oc headroom to play with (so as psu, therefore)

@Ancient Gameplays so if I just want to undervolt, and play with the voltages, I would use prime 95 to test stability, but if it crashes I can just put the voltage back up a little or would I need to put all the setting back?
I have gigabyte aorus b550 elite ax. My bios looks much different then I have seen on yours or any others really. Going to give the curve optimizer a shot. I’m hoping it will bring my cpu temps down to low 60s from 68-72.
Are you running stock cooler on your 5600x? I see even stock you’re at about 47c. Way cooler than mine. Not sure if different game makes a difference.

My MSI B450 Mortar Max has horrible vdroop (around 0.06v) even at level 1 cpu llc, I have to set my Ryzen 2700 @ over 1.4v just to get decent overclocks. The one I'm comfortable using now is 3.925Ghz @ 1.3125v (1.250v under prime95 load). I'd like to push it more but I'm quite nervous pushing it to 1.4v lol.
1.25v under load is nothing for a 2700

Quick question do you think having a manual Oc fixed at 4.5Hhz on 5600x better than leting it Auto oc ? Because my Auto fluctuate between 3.7Ghz and 4.7ghz with temps reaching 75° and wondering if i should fix it to 4.5Ghz or let it as it is.
I would try 4.6GHz all cores, starting with 1.22v to see how it goes. Still, at stock the 5600X should be pretty okay
I always get slightly concerned with LLC, especially without decent watercooling, mainly due to the differentiation with different motherboard manufacturers. Now I just stick with pbo, due to the cost in electricity now, sad times 😡😔
I'd actually be interested in what you think about 1usmus's software, I now think it's a bit rubbish, although it can give you an easy baseline, although I haven't used his newer software with zen 3, I'll give it a go in the future though.

@@Markknightexeter CTR has never, ever produced a stable OC for me. It'll pass basic Cinebench runs but anything remotely harder to run causes issues with stability. It's 100% not prime/OCCT/IBT stable.
Hello Fabio, I'm back, in my B550 Gigabyte and R3 3300X I have the settings:
Core Clock=4.4Ghz,
Core Voltage=1.25v,
PBO=disabled,
Core Perf Boost=Auto
and Global C-states=Auto.
And well, it has worked for me to maintain good performance and keep temperatures under control (65/69 degrees in games, 37/39 in idle). Would it be advisable to disable Core Perf Boost and Global C-states to round out these settings?? Thank you in advance and as always we are aware of your work, Greetings!!!

An interesting thing happened to me with RoG Strix B450F Gaming. For me its the opposite with PBO2, the options in AMD Overclocking dont work except CO option, the rest i need to do it from AI Tweaker. This happens on the latest BIOS with Ryzen 5700X. Nothing that i change in AMD Overclocking menu works.
I like manual OC my Ryzen 7 2700 daily driver since allcore is so low out of box, its easy to getting 15-20% more all core freq when needed by doing a quick bios load heh
