Just started painting my Honda s2000 2 days ago in a crazy environment but I’m getting it done thanks to you’re videos it got me confident to do it and you’re right it’s just paint it’s not rocket science lol
The fact is you don't need a paint booth to get good results... I just painted a black railroad locomotive from head to toe outside in a salt air, seashore environment and it turned out very well. Nice smooth sides... it's all about technique and good judgement. And I gotta admit, I learned a lot of the technique from watching this channel.
Another great video Brian! You are so right! Influencer is such a dirty word, appropriately attached to some really scummy people. You ARE a teacher and a great one at that! I've learned so much watching your channel. I recently replaced the front passenger door on my mom's 09 Camry and fixed a bunch of side swipe damage and resprayed the entire passenger side with the knowledge I've learned from you. My background is in the custom cabinetry and furniture so I have years of spraying experience but painting this in my cabinet shop presented some challenges with dust. I had to do a bit of wet sanding for several dust nibs but the end product came out looking better than the rest of the car. Thanks again for these videos brother!
Thanks for another great vid Brian. I’ve watched a lot of different people with paint instructional vids and you actually seem to care about helping us DIYers to achieve good results. Please keep them coming!
How's it going Brian? Funny thing, just a couple of days ago I was researching corded and cordless DA sanders. And then your video popped up. I checked Milwaukee's website and it looks like these units aren't available for sale just yet. I saw you and couple of other TH-camrs get some early pre-released units. Quick question: Did you have to reach out to Milwaukee to inquire about these DAs? Or did they reach out to you with an offer to try out these new models and get them showcased on your channel?
I like to know if you tape up your dinner plates instead of washing them. I've been painting for a long long time, and I'm going to ask the same question that nobody wants to answer. What do you do about bugs?
I have made a handful of videos and I get it on how much longer it takes a job. I also appreciate the voice over because everytime I talk while I work I screw something up lol
One of those little tricks I've done for years with black solvent (or anything dark really) . You can even sand it by hand (it does take a little longer) . I use a soft block with a 6in 800g sanding disk 👍
@PaintSociety At what time do you usually start working? Here in Malta EU, paint shops usually open at 7am till 4pm. I can see that it is still dark from the intro.
This is an awesome tip! I was wondering if this could be done with metallic bases? I'm always worried about messing up the metallic so I generally leave any nibs and deal with it when cut and buffing.
I hated it at first because of how long it takes but after learning how to use the Rupes polishing system I love it except it won’t get out the pigtails from sanding with a DA but if you get a clean 2000 nib using the DA and wet 3000 with the DA and a interface pad (both grits) and use the Rupes polishing system all 3 steps and some bead maker will produce a nice black finish with no swirls. I do a lot of 0:15 Teslas and they want them perfect . I only use the Rotary and wool for pigtails
Hey Brian I’m getting confused with all the different ways to spray! I’m look at taking on a metallic silver at the end of the year. Can you do a sort of visual on a whiteboard of the different layers and what they are for and if you can sand them?
nice video what brand 800 grit paper are you using i did not see it in the eagle kovax line set up and thank you for turning me on to the kovax soft pad with paper that stuff seams sharper than what it says do you use 1000 grit in place of 800 on silver base coat or do you trust the 800 with solvent base thanks
Brian why is there such a big cloud of paint when spraying Clear? Is it strictly due to higher pressure? Or because there is no pigments so the overall material is lighter? Thanks for all your great advice.
I havent painted since school like a year ago and i always had a problem with sanding after the paint dried, the paint on the edges and corners would always come off and i never got a straightforward answer as to why. I assume there either wasnt enough paint there or it didnt actually dry as much as it needed. So when i see you using a the da sander on low across the car it got me in my head thinking maybe im just applying too much pressure even though i am like consciously making an effort to go as light as i can over it.
So Brian, When you say you spray at 20 psi is that with the needle open or closed? Getting too much orange peel on my jobs and trying different psi settings but @ 20 PSI my gun drop to like 8 psi when pulling the trigger.
I feel like this is a very silly question, but: did you sand that door enough to remove clear coat everywhere before blending? It seems like I’ve seen people blending base and then partially doing clear coat. Which would seem like you’d have newly added base coat on top of clear coat at the edges and then clear on top of that. Is that right?
Do you still recommend a slow clear if you have to Paint in the cold let say 30 degrees I will be painting my car this winter and I have to do it in the cold I might be able to get a heat lamp to bake it if that would help
What throw on da 3/16 or 3/32? What psi u spray ur clear at with the series 2? Tried 29, backed it down to 26psi. Seems lil better. Spraying Spies 8180 clear
What is the temp inside the booth again? I know you have mentioned in previous vids. Just can't remember which one. 🤔 Also, If I could add my take on the intro. I come to learn. Plenty of options for entertainment. But I am entertained by the confidence and knowledge I have learned from this channel. Every paint job I have done in a DIY setting has blown away all previous projects throughout the years. Of course I'd be lying if I didn't mention a good portion of those regrettable jobs were due to overthinking the way the paint layed down and doing more than I should when I overcorrected a mistake. What released me from that is the understanding and care taken into preparing the surface(s) and getting the steps down while following the do's and donts that have been addressed throughout these videos. So thanks for saving me not just time and effort but also stress. 💯
@PaintSociety Ty. Was a little worried about slow reducers as I do live in Central Wisconsin. Often dealing with humid days like I hear Florida has as well. Luckily, it is dry in my garage with the help of my dehumidifier, which I bring our on paint related jobs. Wanted to make sure I had an appropriate temp. Garage painting has been a breeze since I've stepped up on buying 16' automotive plastic rolls to make sure what needs to be covered is. LoL My rims I painted with what some hate silver still look as good as they were when they 1st cured. Even aided in getting me 3rd place in my class at Milwaukee's VolksFest Car Show in 2023. 👍
Hey ps I have a question. I'm just about to to paint my box truck. I'm painting it all white. The box is aluminum and I'm also painting the cab. My question is what type of paint should I use for the box and for the cab.
How about metallics. Sanding could disturb the orientation or pearl cause them to flip by sanding. Also I have the entec and ls400. Still haven’t spray with them yet. I’m kinda stuck to my old sprayers the tekna copper and sagola 4500. I do have to say no Shrinking cause ur prob using quality stuff. Any no brand clear shrinks and die back is common along with sand paper spot. But it turned out perfect. Well good tools good product decent booth and excellent prep. U did great. Nice work
@@PaintSociety I don’t crit your work. You’re meticulous and well ordered. Me I’m the opposite well used to be. I’m the king of die back and shrinking. Cheap out king using kirker yellow tinged clears for 30 a gallon. Sound familiar ? It’s never on a good car so
I need your help. Idk how else to contact you. I need advice on fixing a problem with striping. I’m using a iwata lph 400 gun and striping a solid light blue color. Can you give me pressures or distance or lapping advice? Just don’t know what’s going on. Please help. Thank you
Crazy how the prices in those cars has gone way up. I remember my coworker hydrolocked his back in like 2011 and i almost bought the car for like $2500. I have regrets.
Can you do a video on painting galvanized steel?.red oxide self etch primer etc .I think many people will want to know how to paint galvanized steel even us land rover people .
Im interested in the mat on the floor. looks like it would be just the ticket for my home paint booth. I thought you called it Pig Mat in another video.
Ohhhh nooooo you broke my heart with painting over the grille and them SEM trim black over it. Ugh. It's raw from the factory, if someone spent money on a brand new bumper, the last thing they want to see is paint where it shouldn't be
Thats just primered black plastic. They come out best like this. Much cleaner and projected rather then black primered plastic. Plus the bumper was repainted before and the grille area is all messed up with overspray on the black

What do you do about bugs?
Mix some mosquito repellent in your paint 👌🏻
Love the new intros!
this is exactly what i'm looking for! i'm doing a restoration on a vw beetle. ill most likely be doing it at home.have you done classic beetle?

I can go in whenever. I have the key. Usually there at 6:30-7am

Hi Brian. Love the Videos. Can you do the 800DA trick on single stage?
Im afraid not. Good question
Amazing job as always 😎

I enjoy the vidz of the older 2000s cars, like the s2000 and the integra.

Hey I have a quick question is there a shelf life on paint and reducer once it has been opened
Have you ever made a video on the right way to paint brake calipers?
I need to paint my black 98 k2500 long bed soon. I was considering single stage, but I am not sure after watching this video.
Thank you for your advice😊

30 degrees use fast. Thats the exception to the rule

Awesome comment. Glad you are applying the knowledge and impressive folks! Temp was around 83

What is the model number of the milwaukee DA sander? Thanks for the great videos.
wow great job
Did you flow coat the paint?
Hey ps
I have a question. I'm just about to to paint my box truck. I'm painting it all white. The box is aluminum and I'm also painting the cab. My question is what type of paint should I use for the box and for the cab.
Face coat and clearcoat will work, Nason matrix all budget lines
Question is ebony black by autoboan or high tech ..a true black in color ..?
Looks great😍
what would it look like if you just cleared over that black sealer (if you where doing a hole car)

Hi. I talked about this in the video. Use 1000 and then one coat after that

Beautiful sir ❤🎉
I did this yesterday on black second steering stations. I was fighting the dirt. lol
Brian thanks again for the great video and training. When is Milwaukee releasing those 6’ da sanders?
I hear january

Like 90 pig mat
Veries great for me.
Hi Brian. Thanks for the DA sander trick. Milwaukee M12 and M18 battery tools are the best. Very innovative company. Enjoy your weekend brother.
Wait until you try one! Ty again Jim
You influence us to learn how to be a better painter! :D
I’m painting my berlina black s2000 but the paint is a a bit more brown how you said in the video 🤦🏽
Brian ❤️👍🙏
Hell of a paint job. SUPERB!!
Maybe you've explained this, but how does this work being a content creator and working at a dealer?
I always do that 😂
Ohhhh nooooo you broke my heart with painting over the grille and them SEM trim black over it. Ugh. It's raw from the factory, if someone spent money on a brand new bumper, the last thing they want to see is paint where it shouldn't be

I’d rather color sand and polish black than white. The reflection of the lights make me snow blind and can’t see lol
I would like to say instructor
Those fumes in the eyes ain’t good for you
Ive done this multiple times. But i always did 2 coats of base then 1 coat of clear base, followed by one more color after sanding
