For Q18, not a good approach to Area. You should separate 100cm*100cm by 100*100 and cm*cm = 10,000 cm^2. If you wanna transform them, then 100cm = 1m therefore 1m^2 (equal to 10,000cm^2)

My numerical test is basic math. Do you know what math problems I should focus on for the exam?

  • @sund5
    @sund5 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    To find a percentage I find it easier/quicker to just: 500*0,45 = 225
    Add 50% = 500*1,5
    One calulation instead of two.
But as most math teachers say, often there is more than one way to Rome. Just find the one you can get comfortable with, and understand, and can remember.

Thank you very much about the video, it is great. Just want to clarify Q18 without being critic.
    about q18.
we have square with side of 1 cm . What is the square surface of the square:
    answer 1cm*1cm=1cm2
We have rectangular with side 1cm and 2cm. What is the square surface of the rectangular.
    answer 1cm*2cm=2cm2
Following this logic the answers of the shapes are as following:
    100cm*100cm=10000cm2
    500cm*200cm =100000cm2
    Anyways
thank you for the effort it is very helpful.

    Q6 - B
    Q7 - C
    Q9 - D (155-127 = 28)
Q14 - B (14/36 = 2.571... but in reality it is less than 1. This is why the Powerball and Mega Millions roll over twice a week, as not all possible numbers are selected even if more than the possible tickets are sold. Also, more than 2 winners can occur through happenstance.)
    Q16 - 11 (11*7 - 6 = 71... or work backwards, {71+6} / 7 = 11)
    Q19 - 440,000 m2 (500-200 = 300 and 1200-800 = 400... so 800*300 = 240,000m & 500*400=200,000m... add the two totals to get meters squared.)
Q21 - I don't like this question, because it doesn't lay out the rules as 19 (B) and 20 (C) are both correct. For instance, if I said, how many times does the #1 show up in the sequence 0-11, it would be 3 or 4 (1, 10, 11 [first digit], 11 [second digit]), unless it said you couldn't repeat a number, which would make it 3 (1, 10, 11).
So, I would say B (19), but since we don't have any extra rules, the answer would be C (20), which in my opinion is why accounting can be easy or super hard depending on parameters.

    • @32459
      @32459 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Regarding Q21, in my understanding it is as simple as that: if the numbers from 1-100 were written down next to each other, how many fours would appear there, which is 19. I guess these test are not meant to require that much thought. :D

on question 20 could you not look at the amount of places after the first number, and realize a number can either be in that position or not, so every number has 2 possibilities and there's three positions so 2 X 3 = 6 then times that by the total amount of numbers. so if it was 549123 you would do 5 X 2 to get ten then 10 X 6 to get 60? If this doesn't make sense I can try to explain further.

you calculated the number of people finished under half an hour, which is 1/3 of 80 equals 40. But the question is how many people finished in half an hour or more time. So in simple way just subtract 40 from 120, which becomes 80, and that's the answer.

I have done differently, I did not even need to write it down. Just by looking was possible to solve the problem.
    4 9 3 1
    4 - can move right thrice = 3 + 3
    9 - can move left once and right twice = 3 +3
    3 - can move left twice and right once = 3 +3
    1 - can move left thrice = 3 +3
While you are moving one number sideways three times, you are also moving the other 3 numbers, so it is +3.
    6+6+6+6 = 24.
in a test you do not even need to multiply. I would just think:
Ok, 4 numbers that can move three times sideways from their existing position, every time I move one number
there are other 3 numbers, so it is +3.
    3+3 = 6
    3+3 = ' '
    3+3 = ' '
    3+3 = ' '
    24

    64+64= 128
128+128= 256, you just need to add the number to itself to get the next number in sequence.
Q9. Answer is D. Marketing total number of employees is 127 and the Sales total number of employees is 155. The difference between the two total number is 28.
Q.14 Answer is B. I just divided the 36 by 14. Tbh, I am not sure about it.
    Q16. The answer is 11. (11)x7=77
    77-6=71
    Q21. The answer is 20. Count all 4s from 1-10= 1
    11-20= 1

    31-40= 2
    41-50=10

in the 1st sequence we got only 1 = 4
      in the 2nd sequence we got 2 = 14 and 24
      there is 8 sequences more

He got the answer for 18 wrong but what we did was take the area for shape one i.e. the left hand side of shape one is 100cm and we know the base of it is 100 as well because 500 - 400 = 100
however 100 x 100 does not equal 100 it equals 10,000 we know tat shape 2 has an area of 100,000 as we've already used the 100 above for shape one and we have a base for 500 leaving us with 500 x 200 which equals 100,000 if we add these together we get 110,000

    Dear Richard,
    Q1.
a relatively simple question BUT unless you know how to work out percentages ... (ratios, areas, etc).
I am sitting my UCAT test in the middle of September 2024 but in the meantime I am trying to brush up my numberical reasoning skills after being graduated some time ago.
Thank you for your useful videos.
You suggested contacting the particular testing centre to find out the level of mathematics being involved (basic, intermediate or advanced).
Do you think is it appropriate to do so?
Have a good day whatever you do 😃😃👍👍
    All best wishes,
    Roman
